00:00he is our odyssey nfl insider ross tucker insider calls brought to you by nationwide for your
00:05insurance and financial needs nationwide is on your side give it to us man it's just like oh
00:11oh oh i mean okay we invite rosta we introduce now ross tucker onto the show ross the question is
00:20do you remember the context and with whom you made those noises in an interview on radio row
00:30ross are you there yeah i'm here okay oh i wasn't i wasn't punched up i am here okay okay um can you
00:40hear me now yeah did you did you hear the noise that we had you making right there yeah but can i
00:46hear it again sure sure sure ben play it one more time just like oh oh oh i mean okay you remember
00:55what interview that was because we we were talking about it ross and you do so many you especially
00:59you're doing all your normal shows plus you're doing a boatload of interviews that you kind of
01:03forget a lot of what you said during radio row uh and i felt like this was an iconic moment for you
01:09do you have any memory at all of like what you were talking about there if i had to guess
01:16it was my interview with dalton schultz for the ross tucker football podcast and i was talking about
01:25will anderson going speed to power over and over again like oh oh all right let's let's let's find
01:34out will anderson's a freak dude and i say this as a compliment is an idiot he he does speed to power
01:42like 30 times a game it's just like oh oh oh i mean i and i mean that as a compliment relentless
01:51relentless like yeah there it is ross tucker good job ross man i feel so the first time i heard it
02:01i had no idea but then when i heard it the second time um i figured it out so and and um somebody had
02:10posted somewhere i think uh my guy houston stressin yeah he had posted dalton schultz talking about
02:18how um basically that will anderson is like the prototype for what demiko ryan's once you know on
02:27his team um which i thought was cool and so yeah i'm very happy that i got that correct i also thought
02:36just that one little that one little fist pounding part would be awesome to use in one of your hymns
02:41advertisements for uh for malperformance or whatever uh but it was um it was it was nice i was glad you
02:48pointed it out because there's one thing that i'll always tell sean you got careful when you're watching
02:53college kids who just bull rush all day long because it's hard to do that in the nfl where you
02:59go speed to power or bull rush over and over again because very few guys have the endurance to do that
03:04and yet will anderson is uh is such a physical freak that he's he's capable of giving that kind
03:10of effort for an entire football game yeah i thought it was really telling what dalton said
03:16i mean first of all i didn't know dalton was such a cool dude like i liked dalton a lot i never talked
03:22to him before um but i liked a lot of what he had to say about about cj um you know on some level i guess
03:31what's he gonna say about his starting quarterback but um he still gave a an impassioned defense
03:37and then uh you know he's about will anderson what a compliment you know that this guy embodies
03:45everything that damiko ryan is looking for in a player on and off the field i just thought that was
03:51really really cool and it's funny i was actually thinking about you guys this morning knowing i was
03:57going to come on with you you know the seahawks aren't really that different than the texans
04:05like i think if you're a texans fan you can very much sit here i don't know if this makes you feel
04:11better or worse but feel like you're not that far away and it very realistically could have been you
04:21that's where that's where uh you know partly i believe that but partly also i'm looking at that
04:30scenario it's playing the seahawks and also thinking all right here's a team that in the
04:37patriots it's having a really good defensive performance to start off the game but not getting
04:43anything from their offense and i'm trying to figure out whether cj stroud in that offense that
04:48texans offense would have been able to do anything against that that seahawks defense and i that's
04:53where i started to get a little pessimistic about it so i'm glad you brought up your conversation with
04:58dalton regarding cj stroud because you you were talking to dalton and you said hey troy aikman in
05:04that game um in that last game said that cj stroud hasn't really made a lot of progress the last couple
05:09years dalton pushed back and said that he thought cj had in a lot of ways that and i agree with that
05:16it's some of the things that don't necessarily show up in the highlights but in terms of operating
05:21like a veteran quarterback i thought he did a good job this year of you know taking the easy
05:26receptions on first down not putting the ball in harm's way when you have a lead all those things
05:31it was just startling to see a lot of that fly out the window in the playoffs and that's where i'm just
05:38i'm right now just trying to figure out just okay what is cj stroud as a quarterback and can i i like
05:45is there any way that i can just ignore that playoff performance is there
05:49no because it was two you know what i mean like i feel like if it was one of the two games
05:58i think you can make a an argument in that regard but since it was both games in the playoffs
06:06that's where i struggle and it wasn't that he turned the ball over it was that the turnovers
06:15were generally horrendous you know i feel like not all turnovers are created equal and there are
06:23like you're going to throw some picks and you might get strip sacked but it was like the decision making
06:30on some of the turnovers was so um so bad that it's kind of hard to get that out of your head
06:41i mean it it was like what is he doing it wasn't like oh hey that's a bad throw or you know it was
06:48like what what is going through his head with some of these decisions right now yeah ross tucker's our
06:55odyssey nfl insider joining us uh insider calls brought to you by nationwide insurance and financial
06:59needs nationwide is on your side hey ross just shifting gears for a second but sort of the same
07:05thing quarterback talk um drake may by and large had a really bad postseason i know his team got to
07:12the super bowl and he was the quarterback for that team and i know he threw for 295 yards in that game
07:17but while it mattered he was under 100 yards for most of that game where are we on drake may right now
07:22especially considering the fact that the patriots schedule is a massive step up in weight class next year
07:29i think it's a fair question uh i i am very bullish i would say i think he had an unbelievable season
07:39and i saw a lot of really positive signs from him last year you know his rookie year when he had nobody
07:48around him i think all of the following can be true i think they played the last four games
07:58every team they played was a top five defense so the chargers the texans the broncos the seahawks
08:08they literally played four of the top five defenses so that needs to be taken into account
08:15their offensive line and in particular will campbell the left tackle really really struggled
08:23and he had a shoulder injury that was so bad it had to get shot up so
08:31the biggest issue i would have with drake was just the the fumbles you know the ball security has got to
08:40be much better than it was and and he didn't play great but you go back to even the texans game
08:47you know the throw on fourth down at the mario douglas when i can't remember who was covering him
08:54but they were right there it was yeah it was pinpoint and then you know booty made a terrific
09:01catch but it still was a good throw and then even um you know the digs one was a contested catch but
09:09that was i mean he needed to make some big time throws but then the four points against the texans
09:16and he did what are you going to do when you do your first power rankings of the 2026 offseason i
09:24don't know when you start back up with your power rankings um where where do you put the patriots
09:29going into next year before free agency before the draft all of that but that football team when
09:34they're going to be placing facing a a first a first place schedule they're not going to have
09:39the ridiculously easy schedule from this past season where do you think they end up
09:43uh that's a great question um and especially if you're you know i don't do it to be honest with you
09:52before before the free agency in the draft although that would actually be an interesting way to do it
09:58you might have just helped me out there seth where i could do a pre-free agency and post-free agency
10:03power ranking on the raw sucker podcast as well as a pre-draft post-draft just to see you know did it
10:11change how much it changed because interestingly i think it would probably change more free agency than
10:18it would the draft you know because unless you're trading a quarterback or whatever none of us really know
10:26which of these draft choice are going to end up really playing at a high level and which ones
10:32aren't um so it's hard to move them around that much but i would think that they would be
10:38probably in the four to seven range maybe five to eight range certainly off the top of my head i think
10:48i'd have seattle and the rams ahead of them for sure um probably the broncos
10:56you know maybe the maybe the bills you know i'd have to kind of go through it um but i mean look
11:03they have a really good team they had a terrific season i don't think one performance against a
11:10really good seahawks team you know the niners were pretty good too and they lost 41 to 6
11:15to the seahawks i mean the seahawks might just be that good that's ross tucker our odyssey nfl insider
