00:00It took World Services more than a year to be able to get to the second and final phase
00:05of the search for the remains of missing RIG 110 worker, 47-year-old Pete Phillip.
00:10That operation commenced on January 13th, after the collapse of the RIG on December 22nd, 2024,
00:18which injured one worker and left Phillip unaccounted for.
00:22This was the thread of hope that his family, inclusive of his wife Candacy Phillip,
00:26and their children held on to, a hope that they could at least be able to say a last goodbye.
00:33In November of 2025, Phillip's expectation of finding skeletal remains was waning.
00:39She was at that time at least wishing that the clothes her husband was wearing in his final moments
00:44could have been recovered. But any closure for her and her family will have to come without it.
00:50In a statement to the media, World Services says, quote,
00:53Despite the best efforts and the dedication demonstrated by all personnel involved,
00:58carried out under these grueling conditions,
01:01it is with profound sadness that we confirm Mr. Phillip's remains have not been recovered.
01:06With nowhere else to search and having exhausted all avenues,
01:10a decision has been made to abandon any further attempt to locate Mr. Phillip's remains.
01:15End quote.
01:16According to World Services, his family has been informed of the unfortunate outcome
01:21of the finality of the search, which the company notes involved comprehensive technical assessments
01:26and systematic search activities that were carried out under challenging operational conditions.
01:33The company states, quote,
01:34This outcome is deeply distressing for all parties concerned,
01:39and our thoughts remain firmly with Mr. Phillip's family during this incredibly difficult time.
01:44The organization acknowledges the immense emotional toll this situation continues to place on Mr. Phillip's loved ones.
01:53We extend our sincere condolences to his family.
01:56End quote.
01:58World Services underscores that a different outcome was hoped for,
02:01and it is pledging ongoing support and assistance for Phillip's immediate family
02:06through what it notes is their period of grief.
02:09The company says this will be done through continued access to appropriate assistance and resources
02:15and ongoing engagement grounded in compassion, transparency and respect.
