00:01From the river to the sea!
00:04These chants, known all too well at rallies across the country.
00:08But in Queensland, that's about to change.
00:11Those slogans, those symbols, they're not about liberation.
00:14New laws introduced to Queensland Parliament this week
00:17will look to stamp out anti-Semitism in the wake of the Bondi terror attack.
00:22The last two and a half years as Queensland Jews, we felt demonised.
00:26We felt hated.
00:29And these laws clearly show people that hate has no place.
00:33The proposed laws will increase penalties for assaulting or threatening a person
00:38officiating a religious ceremony.
00:40That will go up from two years to five years in prison.
00:44Those displaying terrorist symbols will now face a maximum of two years imprisonment.
00:49But perhaps one of the most controversial changes is the banning of phrases,
00:53including globalise the Intifada and from the river to the sea,
00:57which Jewish communities have described as anti-Semitic.
01:01The phrases will inflict a maximum penalty of two years in prison.
01:05It's there to incite hate. It's there to offend. It's there to menace.
01:10And it's for those reasons that we will lead the way in relation to them.
01:16In a statement, the opposition says they look forward to seeing the proposed legislation
01:21and a number of key multicultural organisations also afforded the opportunity for consultation.
01:27They can ban slogans. They can do whatever they want.
01:29Nothing is going to stop us from advocating for Palestinian rights and human rights.
01:35The government will reveal its proposed gun control laws tomorrow.
01:39We will be taking action on guns against terrorists and criminals.
01:43And if you're asking me how many guns I believe a person
01:47who would deliberately target someone based on their faith,
01:50you're asking me how many guns they should have, the answer is zero.
01:53It was one of many questions to still be answered when Parliament resumes this week.
