00:00a little bit by bit every week see what he's capable of here but here's a surprise
00:06Jorge Prado the supercross learning curve unbelievable now fastest qualifier today
00:14yeah he's answered all the critics and you know I was I wouldn't say that I was one of them but I
00:21definitely was interested in looking forward to see how he was going to do because I mean he
00:26pretty much said it he gets back on that KTM it's going to be better and he has certainly
00:31risen to the occasion it's been a lot of fun to watch that I have really been impressed
00:36yeah fast qualifier just incredible about a dozen supercross and he looks great at the
00:42whoops also I mean wouldn't wouldn't think that here's the monster energy upcoming schedule for
00:47monster energy supercross going to Seattle next weekend I'll talk more about that in a little
00:52bit the Super Bowl will have an impact on how early they can get into the building to build
00:56the track if they have to have a parade there for the Seahawks or not and then Arlington and
01:01then Daytona after that rolling all the way to Salt Lake City in May when champions are crowned
01:06fly racing 30 second card is up Prado not just fast and qualifying he is great off the start
01:12so let's see if he can match his Red Bull KTM teammate Tomac who had the great start in heat
01:18one and keep an eye on Sexton on the four rocks under the 94 bunch of title contenders here
01:24there's Kenny here we go heat two 450s
01:29it's freezing a good jump gonna lead them in
01:38oh man and he's got it but there's Prado to the inside no surprise with Prado right there I mean
01:45you take a take a look at what he looked like last year on that Kawasaki and listen he didn't have
01:52a lot of time on that machine so it's really not a fair comparison but he looks like a completely
01:57different guy he looks comfortable he looks confident I mean when we were watching qualifying
02:02practice earlier today right before he was sitting at fastest time Jason I mean he was smoking through
02:08the whoops I looked like he had been doing this for 10 years unbelievable again about a dozen supercross
02:13races to his career the multi-time MXGP champion out of Spain Freezy dealing with Savace and then it's
02:22Verandas and Anderson let's go to Will just want to go back here to Jorge Prado and those works that you
02:27guys were talking about Savace makes the move there into second well Jorge shouldn't be doing
02:32that well in the work should he given the limited amount of racing this I believe is race 11 for
02:36him in supercross but here's the stats at Anaheim 2 Prado set the fastest segment time in the works in
02:43three of the six qualifying sessions run and of course that includes the first one from earlier on
02:48today in Houston he set the fastest work time in the main races there two out of three of them
02:54how he's doing this well we'll take a look at the technique Vicky but it's incredibly impressive
02:59yeah his bike looked really good to me even in that first lap when we were watching it just looks
03:05like it's plush where it needs to be but also is stiff enough it doesn't go all the way to the bottom
03:11and it looks like it's very forgiving as well you can notice how straight it tracks doesn't catch an
03:18edge and go to the side very often and again his technique is spot on as well
03:22freezy got a train behind now he's got Anderson Ferrandez rocks it and sexted Anderson goes to the
03:31outside not an auto room there no he makes it happen though and Kenny's able to get by Ferrandez
03:38and let's see if they can he can work freezy as well now a little kind of contact between Ferrandez and
03:45Sexton wow Kenny almost ran out of room there trying to get by freezy to see if he can slingshot
03:54pass him on the outside and he does freezy their privateer in the international supercross race team
04:01Kawasaki managed to know by Bubba Pauly who was a racer for that team for a long time still running that
04:08operation and freezy known for the good starts but he's been shuffled back by the Suzuki boys
04:12Anderson and Roxson
04:14Sexton
04:16he's still got work to do let's go back to the start
04:19and show you Prado
04:21out of the gate
04:23there he is
04:25perfect execution
04:27quick shifting
04:28moving back and forth on the bike
04:30freezy tries to go up the inside he gets in a little deeper but Prado holds that inside line
04:39JT
04:40just watching that start there you know that's that's Jorge Prado's calling part he gets the start and he tries to run away and hide he's been doing that for the better part of a decade and he's finally found the confidence and the technique in supercross to be able to wield that sword and it's really been remarkable to watch Ricky I cannot remember a time where I've seen a rider improve the
05:00improve this much in one year span he looks the mark you told me he wins a race this year a year ago I would have said you are out of your mind now I wouldn't even bat an eye
05:09I'll tell you what's crazy I talked to him after qualifying and he said I still feel like there's so much more to learn I still don't have the experience he thinks he can still continue to get a lot better as you would think considering how new he is to this as for Savace back here broke his big toe last week in Houston and he said he can still continue to get a lot better as you would think
05:19considering how new he is to this as for Savace back here broke his big toe last week in Houston and he said every time he has to upshift and gets his boot under that shift lever it hurts
05:36he had the fastest lap earlier today and it's great to see Joey building on this momentum on that quad lock Honda team and you know this is a guy that fought hard for 250 divisional championships for several years against guys like Cooper Webb came down to the last corner in Vegas one year and the guy knows how to ride so it's good to see him riding to his potential and really not a surprise
06:04really not a surprise I'll say he's on showing his potential right now the seven of Aaron Plessinger was nowhere off the start he is rolling through now making the move on Ferrandez and catching Chase Sexton
06:15boy he's been right there behind Sexton the whole time Sexton makes a move yeah AP makes a move great to see AP riding well here early on in this heat race and he was pretty quick in qualifying which he is not known for I talked to him along with Prado
06:32uh Pessinger said 11th is usually about where he expects to be in qualifying and for a moment he was at the top of the board early this morning
06:39early this morning and yes he's definitely keeping Sexton honest here
06:45yeah it's tough you know with these longer lanes we talked about you know it gives you an opportunity to pull up next to a guy and maybe make a pass but at the same time as I say that
06:55sometimes it's difficult because it's so spread out you just get going it's like a long straightaway and these guys are so good with their precision and timing that when it's stretched out like that there's just not an opportunity for them to make a mistake
07:13and that's what Roxanne's dealing with here all over Anderson who's on the twisted T Suzuki Roxanne on the progressive Suzuki
07:20another thing about not only these long straightaways but there's a lot of 90 degree corners in this in this track as well which makes it more difficult so to make a pass I mean you're going to have to be right on the guy's tire and if they slip boom you got to take advantage of that very similar to how Cooper Webb made the move in his heat race
07:38well here's one of those long straights right here that's right you're going to see Kenny and if that door opens up he's going to attack
07:45he's going to go inside outside here
07:49not enough bottom box is freezy holding on for a transfer Roxanne and Anderson wheel to wheel
07:57Anderson defended that position that was great
08:01it's
08:04it's
08:05McElrath that's the teammate of Savace looking for that transfer spot and he goes down
08:09he goes to the inside McElrath that I thought he was going to jump to the outside like Hunter Lawrence did to try to make the move on Christian Craig but then just buries the front end and tips over
08:20and then Roxanne goes back to work on Anderson who's very quick in the whoops there
08:27and Anderson but a solid start to the year for him
08:31it has led some laps showing he can get starts jumping back on the Suzuki
08:37or was it Anaheim too he led for a bit he was under the weather there I believe wasn't feeling too good or maybe that was San Diego
08:47I think leading into that yes
08:49what a ride by this guy
08:50unbelievable Savace keeping him honest here though but checkered flag in sight and yet another heat race win for Jorge Prado
08:58fourth of his career third of the year and Anderson will hold Roxanne at bay all the way to the checkers
09:07so it's going to be Anderson third Roxanne fourth Sexton fifth Plessinger sixth
09:11Malcolm Stewart some late moves for seventh but unbelievable the rise of Jorge Prado in Supercross continues
09:23that's incredible great job
