00:21Well, in the triple crown format, everybody's allowed to have a second teched bike, which means it's gone through technical inspection there. And that's just for triple crowns because of the pace of racing. If something happens to the bike, they need to have another one ready. Now, this is Eli Tomac's bike. That is the bike from that second race, which got damaged. They have fixed it, but that's now his backup bike. The team have decided to go with the teched bike, which is what Eli is going to race on for safety reasons.
00:50They said that way, if there's any damage that they didn't know about, that's the safer choice.
00:56Good report there. That's one of the first times we've seen that. That's wild. Look at those to the inside here on the start, too. This is it. It's so tight in points. 01:10Look at Hunter, though. From an overall standpoint, he is the guy right there. That's right. He's two points back of Webb and Roxen coming into this one, but they're pretty far back. He's the second.

01:32Hunter's going to have to do a really good job to defend his position over Jason Anderson. If he isn't able to do that, it is going to allow Eli to absolutely take off.

01:50Great job by Anderson. He gets a good drive out of that corner, has faster straightaway speed.
01:56And Lawrence still cannot get him. And that's going to benefit Webb possibly as well. No, wait. Webb is all the way back to ninth. What happened?

02:13Cooper Webb tried to make a move in the corner before the finish, got offline and actually jumped off the track and short on the finish line.

03:16I did check in with the Red Bull KTM team to see if there was any injuries on Eli after that, and I got told by two of the team members that he's perfectly fine.
03:26It looks that way because he's right back up on the 96.
03:31And Hunter Lawrence able to hold him off. The battle is on now.
03:34What a way to defend the position by Hunter Lawrence.
03:37It is so hard not to get scared or spooked a little bit and get off line.
03:42It didn't even faze him. He still triple triples that section.
03:46Eli wasn't able to do that.
03:49Hunter pulls a little breathing room in between the two of them, but Hunter isn't able to do the rhythm lane.
03:55Tobac gets him back.
03:59Great racing. Now, Tobac's not in it for the overall race win,
04:02but Hunter Lawrence certainly is, and that's costly because now Roxxon's up to fourth.
04:10I believe this puts Roxxon into the overall win, and he is closing.

04:15Right now, as they run, Roxxon would win by one point over Hunter Lawrence.
04:23Webb is still buried in seventh. Sext in the bat, start at sixth.
04:27But Webb is right there also.
04:28If you look at the pylon on your left right there, five seconds back of the leader.

04:35They're all right there in the screen.

04:42Now, Tomac begins to go to work again on Anderson for the lead.

04:49Maybe a little reset from that last race.
04:52And we knew coming into the triple crown that the likes of Anderson, we saw Prado the previous two,
05:00they would be tough in the shorter races.

05:05Tomac's got the lead.
05:07Weiju asked me about that when we were on the track of qualifying practice today.
05:10Specifically, going into that double, are some guys going to break too hard?
05:15Is the bike going to get upset?
05:16And I said, man, you can make a lot of time up right there coming into that double.
05:21As simple of a section as it found.
05:23And that was a perfect example of that.
05:26Eli Tomac with a great pass.
05:28And it's all salvaging positions for Tomac.
05:32He can't win the race with the 13th in race two.
05:35But he's climbing back up the order, salvaging points.
05:38Hunter Lawrence and Ken Roxen, they are fighting for the race win.
05:43Man, what a pass by Eli.
05:44He just goes in there with a ton of speed, loads the motorcycle up.
05:49Lawrence has got a line on Anderson.
05:52Same thing.
05:53What's happening is, I believe, right to the right-hand side of that double.
05:57It's a little bit smoother so they can drive through the face of that double,
06:01stay lower, scrub speed.
06:03And with that pass, Hunter now has the overall lead.
06:06Roxen needs to respond.
06:07And he is.

06:10Anderson being tough with it on his teammate again.
06:13With the twisted T-Suzuki and the progressive Suzuki.
06:16But that's the same operation.
06:19And Chase Sexton has caught the groove.

06:31Side-by-side with Sexton in the whoops.
06:34And Sexton completes the pass.

06:41And Webb's going to get him.
06:43And this all works to the advantage of Hunter Lawrence for the overall.

06:56Oh, here comes Sexton after Anderson.
06:59So costly from this turn all the way around.

07:05And, by the way, not only is Hunter Lawrence in position to win his first ever 450 Supercross,

08:40And with that, Cooper Webb in position for the race win overall.

09:09He showed us a little bit last week of the improvements that he had made.
09:12Now he's made even more coming in here to Houston.
09:16We talked about at the top of the show how he can make these big point gaps in one race.
09:22He could go from 24 points back to only 17 points back in one weekend.
09:28Yes, because Tomac had the bad second race.
09:30That helps Sexton having his problems tonight.
09:33A couple of mistakes.
09:35Sexton is sixth, working on Anderson.
09:37Now Roxen, if he could get Webb, would take the overall.

09:43Yeah, not sure what happened here because how fast Sexton was going the beginning of this race.
09:48And then all of a sudden it just, he made that one bobble in that rhythm section coming up
09:54and then really hasn't been able to recover since then.
09:59Roxen is going after Webb and it is for the overall win.
10:06If he passes him, they'd be tied.
10:08The tiebreaker is the better finish in this race.

10:12I go back to these days when these guys used to battle it out.

10:25We were kind of hoping for it when this race began that we could get another classic Webb and Roxen.
10:30And a lot of them have taken place here in Texas.
10:33But it's usually the opposite.
10:34It's usually Webb stalking Roxen.

10:39Yeah, just to let you guys know, Cooper Webb is aware of the situation.
10:42I just saw on his pit board there from his race mechanic.
10:46He said, stay P3 for the win.
10:48So he knows exactly what's going on right now.
10:51Yeah, I mean, I'm going to tell you what.
10:53This guy, we've talked about it for so many years.
10:56I mean, three-time Supercross champ Cooper Webb.
10:59The sense that he has from his competitors and what line they're going to take,
11:04he is so good at defending that to where the guys can't get by him.
11:07I think if Kenny wants to get by Coop, the best opportunity for that to happen is going to be the whoops section.
11:16Or could it come down to a mistake?
11:18This track has proven so difficult to nail every lap.
11:22And Roxen is closing again.
11:23We're getting into lappers, too.
11:26Oh, Kenny gets sideways.

11:30Tomac is gone with the race lead over Lawrence.
11:34Man, I'm going to tell you, Coop has Kenny right on the ropes.
11:38The gap is manageable right now.
11:41But if he's able to pull it out a little more, I think it's over.
11:46But if Kenny can keep it close, this thing's going to go down to the wire.
11:50And there you can see Webb, second on the all-time Triple Crown win list.
11:55It's a format that started in 2018.
11:57Looking for his sixth Triple Crown win.
12:00And they are throwing everything at it.
12:03Kenny loses that rhythm lane right there.

12:08He's only got about two or three more laps.

12:23So he has every reason to go for it here with about two laps to go.

12:38And was on my way to doing well before I fell.
12:41And this is all about the mind, in my opinion.
12:44Not only to himself, but his competitors as well.
12:47Well, yeah, compare Tomac's performance tonight to last week.

12:50It's a big bounce back.
12:51Even if the result doesn't show it.
12:55He was good last week, Tomac.
12:57But not as good as the first two rounds.
12:59He might not win the overall.
13:01But he is serving notice that he might still be the man in this series.

13:07Kenny absolutely hanging with it.
13:09He's able to claw back.
13:11He lost some time that last lap.
13:15But he's staying with it.
13:17And I love to see it.
13:19Oh, it's a battle of wills now on maybe the most difficult track of the year.
13:25It's going to come down to the whoops section right here.
13:27If Kenny's able to get a few bike lengths closer, I think he goes full send mode through the whoops and goes up the inside and makes a move on Coop.

13:59And this is his moment to do it.

14:12And it ain't by happenstance.
14:16And he's a three-time champion.

14:18It's because of rides like this.
