00:00Super Bowl tomorrow, by the way, live on Peacock and NBC, and if the Seahawks win, their parade, which ends at the stadium, will take place on Wednesday, so normally they start building the Supercross track there on Monday, so if they win, it's going to be a two-day delay to get the track built.
00:16SMX track crew going to be hustling, there's no doubt.
00:19Or maybe rooting for the Pats, just to have more time to build the track.
00:23I'll be tuned in. It's going to be fun.
00:25Oh, it's going to be a big day tomorrow.
00:26So, ready for a two-day DLC, let's send it back down to Jason Thomas.
00:31Yeah, Jason, you guys were talking about, you know, the riders are going to have to kind of redo that great start, make it happen again.
00:37Well, a guy who may be the benefactor of that red flag is Matty Jorgensen.
00:41This guy's been in a lot of main events.
00:42He got caught up in that crash.
00:44He wasn't the cause of it, but he got caught up in it, so he's going to be able to restart this race, and really, it's probably the best thing that could have happened to him is to get this restart and have another shot at it.
00:53Yeah, great point, JT.
00:55There's a lot of riders hoping, especially, again, with how important the start is in the LCQ, that this will be a reset that they need.
01:02Jorgensen and his teammate, Justin Rodbell, have been very strong this year on the SLR Hondas.
01:09It was Tyler Gibbs, one of the riders, down.
01:12We don't know what the situation is as far as injury-wise, but we do know it's a full restart because they had not completed three laps.
01:22That is the trigger point to go to the staggered restart.
01:26Full restart.
01:28Also, the 2-0-4 of Paul Bloy, rider out of Germany, who was down as well.
01:38So, we hope for the best for Gibbs and Bloy.
01:41Hope they're okay.
01:42They're being attended to, I'm sure, by the Alpine Stars Medics, who are the best in the business.
01:47And now the track is clear and ready for another shot for the LCQ.
01:53You do have to wait for the medical team to come back because you have to have them at the ready right there next to the racetrack at all times.
02:00So, if they're contending to multiple riders, just wait for them to return because safety is obviously the number one concern here.
02:08You see Schlosser on the right on the 173.
02:10His bike's already dirty.
02:12Yeah.
02:12Probably getting sandblasted on that first lap.
02:14Ah, you see they're starting to put their goggles on.
02:17It means it's race time.
02:20Here we go.
02:21Let's try it again, Weege.
02:23Well, once again, then, I will say often the best racing of the night is this last chance qualifier.
02:29Four riders in.
02:30Everyone else will be watching the main event from the stands.
02:33Well, let's be honest.
02:34Probably packing up and heading up the road to Seattle real quick.
02:38Or getting to the Super Bowl plans a little early.
02:41That is the goal.
02:42Make the mains.
02:42Revan Gordon, who was out front.
02:45Kari Schur, the team manager yesterday, said absolutely that is the goal.
02:48Revan should be making mains.
02:50That's where he certainly hopes to be.
02:52We'll see him right there on the left side.
02:54The grindstone.
02:55Friesen Kawasaki has his shot at it.
02:57And remember, Dominic Thury gets the $1,000.
03:03There he is on the Nano Extreme Heartbeat Hot Sauce, the Omaha.
03:06He can double his money, $2,000 from Rocky Mountain, 18 EMC, if he makes the main event, the veteran, out of Germany.
03:15Another grand in his hand.
03:18I'll get you to Seattle for sure.
03:20There you go.
03:22All right, 2.50 LCQ.
03:24A lot of time to think about it and get nervous for these boys.
03:32Here we go.
03:33I see the kicker.
03:34It is.
03:35The Super Bowl yesterday.
03:35Call that timeout before it all matters.
03:38Here it is.
03:39Rebs are up.
03:43Gates down.
03:43It's Revin Gordon going to do it again.
03:49He's on the inside.
03:51There's Shive as well.
03:55Gordon and Shive battling for the lead just like they were the first time.
03:58Hey, that was a great move that Gordon did.
04:02He went more inside that time than he did last time, not fading out so far wide.
04:11Going to Kyle Wise on the inside.
04:13Here in third, 378, working on Gordon.
04:17And then right now, it's Dylan Kuna out of California there in white on the 330.
04:26Kuna looking good here.
04:28Maybe one of his best runs ever.
04:30I remember him as an amateur working his way through the ranks.
04:34He has yet to make a Supercross main in his career, but he's in third right now.
04:40And Kuna looking for second.
04:41He's in third right now.
04:43Challenging Gordon.
04:43Man, this restart certainly worked for Kuna.
04:49Uh-oh.
04:50Got a little off timing in the rhythm.
04:52And here comes Colby Kopp.
04:53He overjumped that rhythm lane.
04:57He wasn't able to double over the start.
05:00He holds position, though.
05:01Oh, but here comes the 173.
05:04Hunter Schlosser side by side.
05:06Kuna trying to fight him for it.
05:08Hey, I go back to the heat race.
05:10We mentioned Lux Turner up front and how that's a different experience.
05:12So what is it like when you're in transfer position for the first time in your career?
05:16Well, it's nerve-wracking, especially in the last chance qualifier.
05:20And we talk about it a lot on these last chance qualifiers because you have to ride defensive,
05:25especially if you're in transfer position.
05:27You don't want the guy behind you to make the move and maybe put you, you know, outside of the bubble.
05:32So it's nerve-wracking.
05:34I will tell you, though, with these 90-degree corners, it makes it a little bit easier to defend that position.
05:40Kai Aiello now has worked his way up.
05:42I think I was saying, Kuna, there, it's actually Aiello on the 310.
05:46And he's relatively new to this.
05:48Now, a great story is Bob actually works as part of the KTM Junior Challenge for KTM,
05:53but she's also his mechanic.
05:55So she has to play double duty a lot of times on these race weekends to get Kai to the line
06:00but also take care of the KTM program.
06:03And they do it the hard way, no doubt about it.
06:06Aiello trying to make it work there in the 310.
06:10And he's right there.
06:11If Aiello can stay close, maybe Koffer Schlosser slips up
06:18and they can make it into the transfer position, JT.
06:23Yeah, and just a true motocross fan with there.
06:26Kai's late father was a big part of the KTM program.
06:30His mother actually, you know, as Weege said, working with the KTM juniors there
06:34and for sure his dad there, proud moment there, smiling down
06:38as he watches Kai move in the transfer position.
06:40Now, I wonder what's happening with Schlosser here.
06:43He's, uh, he had a pretty good gap, Paul.
06:46Look at talking about whoop entry speed.
06:48Wow, and Schlosser gets it right back.
06:50And this is everything right here.
06:52One of these two is going to the main at the moment.
06:55And the commitment level that you have to have for whoop entry,
07:01it's so hard to teach because it can be very, very intimidating.
07:06And, yeah, it's not a pleasant experience.
07:09I've been there a time or two, and you definitely have to know your limits
07:14because if you don't have the confidence that it takes, it can end up bad.
07:20Schlosser able to recover now, trying to lock in that fourth-place spot.
07:24He got Shive leading Gordon and Kopp.
07:30Schlosser right here starting to pull away a bit from Aiello.
07:34Aiello, oh, just got on that tabletop.
07:37It's tricky, those on-and-off sections there.
07:41Well, another example of that, the next on-and-off almost caught Kopp.
07:45And here comes Schlosser.
07:48And Aiello did go down to that rhythm.
07:50Schlosser makes the move.
07:52This is the next-level racing team.
07:53These two battling it out.
07:56Schlosser now third.
07:58It's a tough break for Kai, who's in position for a moment.
08:02And we can show you what happened to the 3-10 here with the replay.
08:12Top of your screen.
08:13So he comes up short on that on-and-off.
08:16Oh, he's just along for the ride.
08:18He was able to, dismount was pretty good.
08:22Not a tough impact there.
08:24That could have been so worse had the bike rotated forward.
08:27He would have gone over the bars, but is able to stay far enough back, JT.
08:32Yeah, Ricky, I'm working on something here.
08:34I can't quite put my finger on it.
08:35I don't know if Schlosser handed Colby a speeding ticket or if Colby's out there handing out citations.
08:41Something with Colby, Kopp.
08:42There's a joke in there somewhere.
08:43I'm going to work on it with the rest of this LCQ.
08:46Yeah.
08:47Kopp, I get it.
08:48There you go.
08:50No speeding tickets being handed out here.
08:52It's an Autobahn.
08:53He goes as fast as you want, Kopp.
08:55He'll be the former high school quarterback.
08:59So that's the cool thing.
09:01A lot of stories in this LCQ with these privateers of riders who switched to the sport late and are trying to make it happen.
09:08Yeah, I mean, some guys have real lives outside of racing, and this isn't their only primary income.
09:14So to be able to come out here amongst the best of the world and compete.
09:19You saw Aiello in the back.
09:20He's headed to the mechanics area.
09:21It looks like he's at least okay.
09:23Kopp and Gordon.
09:24This could be the first main events for them.
09:27That's what the stats are telling us right now.
09:29So that's impressive.
09:30I feel like Kopp has been up here a lot.
09:3221 LCQs in his career entered.
09:34One lap away from making the main here in Glendale.
09:37Well, he has a little pressure from behind.
09:41Not a whole lot.
09:42He's able to grease that rhythm lane right there.
09:45Make no mistakes.
09:46Gordon Schlosser battling for second.
09:48This is for Gaping.
09:50A little bit better position.
09:51Oh, and the drive into the whoops works for Schlosser again.
09:54Yeah, he's made several moves through the whoops there again on that entry speed.
10:00He's got some confidence.
10:02Gordon's got to hang on to it.
10:03He's got to get to the main for the first time.
10:07That was the goal.
10:08He's got it right here.
10:10Half a lap away.
10:11Yeah, no pressure from behind from Kopp.
10:19Scheib looking at his seventh main event of his career.
10:21Here he comes.
10:23Making it look good here on the KTM.
10:26Silky smooth.
10:28Yeah, that was solid.
10:29Here it is.
10:30Checkered flag.
10:31LCQ win and a main event.
10:33In route for Aiden Scheib.
10:35Battling right to the line.
10:38Leitzel actually got close to Kopp at the end.
10:41But Kopp's got to hold on and put it in the show.
10:44Yeah.
10:45Look how stoked he is.
10:48Again, we talked about it.
10:50Some people take it for granted.
10:51But look how special it is for some of these riders to make it to the main event.
10:56It's a huge accomplishment.
10:57And what's wild about a lot of these riders, we said the late bloomers, a lot of them with COVID, you know, switched to riding dirt bikes when the regular sports were shut down.
11:04And now making the show, Colby Kopp.
