00:00I gotta tell you, I'm thrilled that the guy I voted for, Matthew Stafford, is the NFL MVP.
00:06What's fascinating about it is how some of the other voting went and who came in second place.
00:12So, Matthew Stafford's your MVP.
00:15Drake May came in second place.
00:17Why did Drake May come in second place?
00:20All right.
00:20First place votes.
00:2124 of them went to Stafford.
00:2323 of them went to Drake May.
00:26He actually lost by five total points.
00:28Yes.
00:28You get ten points for a first place vote and obviously you start going lower and lower and lower depending on where you got voted, right?
00:35Yeah.
00:36So, here's what's interesting about it.
00:38There were three guys that got votes outside of Stafford and Drake May.
00:44Right.
00:44Josh Allen got two first place votes.
00:46Uh-huh.
00:47And believe it or not, there's a guy that came out publicly and admitted it.
00:51Yeah.
00:52Voted for Justin Herbert.
00:54So, now play it out.
00:55If the Justin Herbert vote goes to Drake May, Drake May is your MVP.
01:02Yes.
01:02If the Justin Herbert vote goes to anybody else, Matthew Stafford stays as your MVP.
01:08Yes.
01:09The guy came out and said, the voter came out and said, I give him credit for it.
01:12He owned up to it.
01:13We can debate if he did it on purpose for attention and all that in a second.
01:17But he said, look, I watched every single Charger game.
01:20And if you watch that game, you saw the greatest quarterback performance this year behind the worst offensive line.
01:26And the only way the Chargers made it to the playoffs this year was because on the will and the will alone of Justin Herbert.
01:35Now, you want to laugh now or you want to laugh after?
01:37I mean, it's just, it's an irresponsible vote when it comes down to it.
01:42Now, I don't know who he would have voted for.
01:43He didn't say.
01:45We don't know who he voted for a second.
01:46I don't know the answer to that either.
01:47Yeah.
01:48And it's not, it's not, I checked the thread because he tweeted it all out.
01:51I don't know.
01:52But it's an irresponsible vote.
01:54Yeah.
01:54And that's my issue with it.
01:56Now, maybe Stafford's still the, still the MVP, maybe.
01:59But we don't know because of that irresponsible vote.
02:01As long as that guy doesn't vote for Drake May, Matt Stafford's still the MVP.
02:04Right.
02:05And I don't know if Drake May was his second choice.
02:07If he was, then if you're a Patriots fan or a Drake May fan, I suppose you've got a legitimate gripe.
02:12But here's the funny thing about it.
02:14Like, and I'm glad you said that you have a problem with it because it's like a wasted vote.
02:18Like, none of us think, I'm with you.
02:20Justin Herbert's not in the conversation.
02:22No.
02:22For MVP.
02:23I would have gone Jonathan Taylor before I went Justin Herbert.
02:27Me too.
02:27I would have gone with a lot of guys.
02:30Yeah.
02:31I think Allen also doesn't deserve it, but that's a better choice in my opinion.
02:35So, Josh Allen got two of the votes.
02:37Right.
02:37I think those are wasted votes also.
02:39Right.
02:39Here's my reality with it, though, and I think you and I are going to disagree on this part
02:43of it.
02:43I don't care.
02:45Like, the fact that there's such an uproar right now from, I guess, football purists or
02:50writers out there that don't have a vote or do have a vote that voted for either Drake
02:54May or Matt Stafford who are like, those three guys, the two guys that voted for Allen, the
02:58one guy that voted for Herbert.
02:59How dare you vote for those guys?
03:01You should lose your voting rights.
03:03You shouldn't be allowed to vote.
03:04Because here's the reality, Tyrone.
03:06If you want to appoint an MVP, then just go ahead and appoint them.
03:12If you want to put it up for a vote, then you have to allow people to vote the way their
03:17conscience tells them to vote.
03:19I'm with you.
03:20The fact that a guy voted for Justin Herbert doesn't make sense.
03:23The fact that someone this particular year, or two guys, would vote for Josh Allen doesn't
03:29make sense.
03:31But at the end of the day, I don't care.
03:34And if you're given the right to vote and you're willing to tell people who you voted
03:38for, like the guy that voted for Herbert did, then everybody else can go pound sand.
03:43Because if you want to just appoint the guy that you want to be MVP, then let's just do
03:48it that way and take the democratic process out of it.
03:50Nobody gets the vote, and three guys go in a room, get stoned and say, he's the MVP, he's
03:57the defensive player of the year, he's the blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
04:00And that's what troubles me about this.
04:03It's that because there are some people out there that don't like the results of the vote,
04:09all of a sudden it is, that guy should lose his vote.
04:12And I completely disagree with that.
04:15And that's the problem.
04:16You want to know why the Washington Post lost their sports staff?
04:19Because of crap like that, entitlement like that, that if I, if my guy doesn't win and
04:26you're the reason my guy didn't win, then you should lose your vote because you didn't
04:30vote the way I wanted you to vote.
04:32It's garbage.
04:33It's comical.
04:34And it's everything wrong with entitled sports writers and sports broadcasters who think
04:39the sun rises and sets with their doping opinion in an attempt to get clicks.
04:45It's a dumb vote.
04:46Yes.
04:47But man, oh man, let's take the guy's vote away because he didn't vote for the guy that
04:53you expected and wanted to win.
04:55That ain't cool either, man.
