00:00Colombian President Gustavo Pedro concluded his visit to the United States on Thursday
00:05with a speech at Georgetown University in Washington where he proposed radical response
00:10to the international order.
00:11The Colombian head of state discussed a wide range of topics, including the current global
00:15climate crisis.
00:16Referring to these emergencies, President Pedro asserted that the world demands a radical
00:21change in the structures of power.
00:24In his speech, which closed an agenda marked by the meeting with President Donald Trump,
00:29he also criticized the United Nations and other multilateral organizations and reaffirmed
00:34that the importance of restoring the ideas of Simón Bolívar and Gran Colombia.
00:46If you look at history, and therefore the responsibility of dealing with issues that can trigger peace
00:51or violence, it is much more delicate when it comes to Colombia, and there are people who
00:56do not know Colombia or its history, they can be very irresponsible when making decisions
01:06without knowledge of Colombia.
01:08I think we have returned to a state of calm, but it will not be permanent.
01:13We must look at the positive aspects of what has been achieved.
01:17No doubts, if you look at the history of the former Gran Colombia, the great dream of articulating
01:27political economies, societies and cultures, our space, which was part of Gran Colombia, remains
01:34absolutely important today.
01:37Today, it is fundamental, I would say.
