00:00Gus's grandparents have broken their silence for the first time since the four-year-old
00:06went missing.
00:07In a statement released around midday today via their lawyers, Josie and Shannon Lamont,
00:12it's the first time the ABC has named the grandparents, have said they are absolutely
00:17devastated by the media release from South Australian police that came out yesterday.
00:22The lawyers, each of them have a different lawyer and in a joint statement the lawyers
00:26said that the pair would not be participating in any further interviews or media.
00:33So this comes after South Australian police held a press conference yesterday where they
00:37said that they had three lines of inquiry in terms of the Gus case, did he wander off, was
00:44he abducted or was someone known to him involved and police say they have no evidence that he
00:49wandered off or that he was abducted and that they now have a suspect.
00:54Police have said that the suspect did live at the home.
00:57Now that home is quite remote in South Australia, it's just south of Yunta and it's about
01:02more than 300 kilometres north east of Adelaide so it is quite remote.
01:09Police say that the parents are not suspects but Gus did live at that address with his mum,
01:16his grandparents and a younger sibling.
01:19At this stage South Australian police say nobody has been charged but the latest development
01:25just happened a couple of minutes ago and it was that Josie and Shannon, Gus's grandparents,
01:30have broken their silence and they have said that they are absolutely devastated.
