00:00Somebody puts on the chat on our YouTube stream,
00:04fans since 1988, I am done.
00:09Season is over.
00:10Not going to use any of my season tickets and won't renew.
00:15But is that because they didn't get Giannis?
00:17I mean, literally, there's 30 teams that want to have Giannis.
00:22Like that, like if the Heat didn't get Giannis.
00:26Now, if you're saying that's the only thing that you've put up,
00:30on the chat, if you're saying, no, they had to do something, anything,
00:33or else I would have had this reaction.
00:36If it's just because of Giannis, then I think that's a little unfair.
00:41Yeah, I think it's more so the former than the latter.
00:45I think it's both.
00:47That would make a little more sense to me, again,
00:49than just saying they didn't get Giannis, I'm done with them.
00:54So the trade deadline has passed, right?
00:56It was at 3 o'clock, am I correct?
00:583 o'clock, I mean, there could have been trades that were submitted before 3.
01:02No, I understood, but the trade deadline itself has passed.
01:04It's done.
01:053 o'clock was the NBA trade deadline.
01:07All right.
01:08So, and they're saying on ESPN right now,
01:11Bucs do not trade Giannis at deadline.
01:15Giannis expects to return this season once recovered from calf strain.
01:20So, he will play for Milwaukee this season.
01:23He will not play for the Miami Heat.
01:27Ira Winderman tweeted out, if the Heat do not make a move,
01:31which, again, some stuff could come through the pipeline
01:34in the next couple of minutes,
01:36they would have two roster spots they could fill on the buyout market,
01:40considering there would be no reason not to waive Terry Rozier
01:43once the deadline passes.
01:47So, you still have the buyout market to look forward to.
01:52I believe Chris Paul probably will be up in there.
01:55Yep.
01:55Chris Paul will be there.
01:56I'm trying to think of anybody make a splash in there
02:01that would excite Heat fans.
02:04What's Joe Johnson up to these days?
02:06All right.
02:10So, yeah, they're reporting it as breaking news now on ESPN.
02:15Bucs do not trade Giannis at the deadline.
02:19According to Shams, Warriors, Heat, and Timberwolves
02:23were among the interested teams.
02:26So, and we knew that.
02:28We knew that.
02:28And we knew that the Warriors had kind of punted on it
02:31with their trade, the T-Wolves as well.
02:33It looked like the Heat were trying to, up until the last minute,
02:40make something attractive enough to Milwaukee.
02:45But, again, I think this was kind of written a little over 24 hours ago
02:50when Giannis said, yeah, I don't mind staying in Milwaukee.
02:53Yep.
02:54You know what I mean?
02:54Like, that to me was kind of like the harbinger of, okay,
02:58no one's coming to the table with five first-round picks
03:03and an all-star.
03:04And so, the deal, in my opinion, would have been Bam Adebayo,
03:11Tyler Hero, and the two unprotected first-round picks.
03:15That may have gotten it done.
03:17Like, we don't know.
03:18My gut instinct is they did not put Bam in there at any time, any place.
03:25And my guess is Milwaukee, their front office, said to themselves,
03:30we're not moving them until the offseason unless Bam gets thrown in by the Heat.
03:37Then we'd have to reassess our decision.
03:39But that kind of would have been, I don't think that would have been.
03:43Again, you know how I feel.
03:45I would take Giannis over Bam any day of the week,
03:48but I'm not necessarily certain how much better you would have ended up getting
03:52with just Giannis losing Bam, Tyler, and two first-round picks coming up.
03:58So, anyway, Giannis is a Milwaukee buck.
04:02And the Miami Heat were the only team in the East to not make a single move.
04:10One of only three teams in the NBA, as of right now, to not have made a move.
04:14The San Antonio Spurs, the Houston Rockets, and our very own Miami Heat.
04:20All right.
04:21Well, there you go.
04:22That's the – now we can focus on the Super Bowl or what?
04:27Yeah, I guess.
04:28I'm telling you, they hijacked – the NBA completely hijacked Super Bowl week for me.
04:32I really thought – there was a time when I thought this week the Heat were getting Giannis.
04:41There were moments this week where I was pretty convinced in my own head that Giannis was coming to the Heat.
04:49I stayed up until 5 in the morning last night because I didn't want to miss it.
04:57I couldn't go to bed.
04:58Like, I genuinely thought – when I saw that the Timberwolves and the Warriors had pivoted,
05:03I said, it's the Heat now.
05:05It's got to be.
05:06There's only one team that hasn't made a move yet.
05:08The T-Wolves went.
05:10They got Io DeSumo.
05:12The Warriors traded for Kristaps Porzingis, who hasn't played since January 7th.
05:16God bless them.
05:17And I said, okay, this is positioning – or this is turning out to be the situation where the Heat throw everything at the Bucs
05:25and say, we're your only offer.
05:28But, Hawk, I mean, we read those comments yesterday from Giannis.
05:30He does not want to be the bad guy.
05:33He doesn't.
05:33That was kind of the end of it.
05:34That was kind of the end.
05:35He doesn't want to be the bad guy.
05:36And if he wasn't in that building bleeping everybody off and saying, get me to Miami
05:42because they're the only legitimate offer I want to be there, then it may – from a basketball standpoint,
05:48from a front office standpoint, it makes all the sense in the world for the Milwaukee Bucs organization
05:54to not do a trade today.
05:58It makes all the sense in the world.
05:59Wait until the offseason.
06:00More teams can recalibrate.
06:04More teams can throw offers your way.
06:06And even for the Heat, for those who are interested, Miami now, prior to the NBA draft,
06:13can now draft this year's selection for Milwaukee.
06:17So they can essentially include three first-round picks.
06:20Correct.
06:21But if the Heat ultimately end up going through the play-in and do what they do every single year,
06:27which is win the play-in tournament, then they can draft no lower than 15.
06:33And is that an attractive place for the Bucs to say, oh, that's a jump pick?
06:40I believe in Eric Spolstra and Norman Powell and the rest of this roster.
06:44So I believe the Heat, when they win the championship, will not need the services of Giannis.
06:51Don't roll your eyes at me, Jimmy.
06:52I will come in there.
06:53I will smack your face.
06:55I believe after they win the championship, they will not need the services of Giannis.
07:00Or they'll hold all the cards.
07:02Or they'll be adding to their championship roster a disgruntled Giannis Antetokounmpo.
07:09Ira Winderman, by the way, tweeted out,
07:10Norman Powell just posted on Instagram about the weekend birth of his child.
07:16So for those concerned what the personal reasons were, it was the birth of his child.
07:24I think I speak for everybody on the show, and I say congrats to Norman Powell.
07:29Yeah, you speak for everybody there?
07:31Yeah, I think I speak for everybody.
07:32Congratulations to Norm.
07:34It goes without saying?
07:36No, I think we could say it.
07:38It doesn't go without saying.
07:39I think we could say congratulations are in order to Norman Powell.
07:43Let's get headlines here for the 3 o'clock hour.
07:46We're going to talk some hoops and Super Bowl with Clay Ferrero.
07:49He's going to join us.
07:50He was at heat practice today.
07:52Headlines are brought to you by Darrell Kia, home of the Pricito, our lowest price.
07:56Visit them at DarrellKia or DarrellKia.com.
07:59Since we're joking about the buyout market, I did see a lot of this today because the Brooklyn Nets
08:04waved Haywood Highsmith, our old friend H.
08:07They made a trade with the Raptors, and they had to make room on their roster.
08:13But if you're holding out hope that there will be a Haywood Highsmith and Miami Heat marriage once again,
08:20don't because NBA rules don't allow him to rejoin the Miami Heat this year.
08:26There has to be a team in between.
08:28There were people holding out for that?
08:30Yeah, I think there were.
08:31There were a lot of people.
08:32It wasn't going to be Giannis.
08:33So it was going to have to be Haywood Highsmith.
08:35That's right.
08:39John Morant, also, he stays in Memphis.
08:42He was not traded at the deadline either.
08:46I would say that has something to do with his contract and what he's going to garner.
08:51What he wants in this upcoming offseason, which I imagine somebody is going to give it to him.
08:58There will be somebody.
08:59Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
09:01I wouldn't even mind if it was the Heat.
09:04If they determine that they can bring him back to the skill level that we saw the first couple of seasons,
09:10I wouldn't mind that at all.
09:12I just feel like right now it was a little bit rushed because it was like, oh, do we want him?
09:17Can we get Giannis?
09:18Can we get Giannis and John Morant and keep Norman Powell?
09:20It was very frenzied.
09:23I wouldn't mind if in the offseason they'd say, yeah, we're going to add John Morant to this roster and we're going to move on from such and such.
09:34Like, well, they'll figure it out.
09:35I still I have mad trust in Pat Riley.
09:38I know a lot of people don't just looking at the chat, but I have mad trust in Pat Riley.
09:43Like, I have mad trust in the front office, too.
09:45I don't I don't view it from the lens that I think a lot of Heat fans are viewing it in right now, which is this front office is washed and that they can't pull off trades anymore.
09:55Like, I don't view it from that lens.
09:57But, Hawk, I'm not going to lie.
09:58Like, I'm still here refreshing Twitter because I'm struggling to believe that the Heat made zero moves.
10:05They were swinging for a home run and listen, there are teams and there are hitters who are singles hitters and there are guys who walk up there and try to jack one over the fence.
10:20But the people who do that, a la Dave Kingman on the 1978 Chicago Cubs, you're going to strike out a lot.
10:30But when you connect, it looks unlike anything else someone does in the batter's box.
10:39So they swing for the fences.
10:42They do that.
10:43We know this about them.
10:45And it's like, oh, you want them to pivot now and be a different style of organization.
10:52But I love the organization that swings for big monster dongs.
11:00You're not going to hit one every at bat.
11:03But when you do, you got three guys coming out from under the stage to Pharaoh Monch in the rest of the country upset at you.
11:13Give me that every day over injured Chris Stapps Porzingis coming to play 11 games out of 82.
11:23The hell?
11:24I saw a graphic yesterday.
11:26The new starting five in Golden State.
11:30And it was like Draymond Green, Chris Stapps Porzingis, Steph Curry, Brandon Pajemski.
11:36How many teams has Porzingis been on?
11:38They've suffered a ton.
11:41A ton.
11:41I remember Stephen A. Smith's crash out when they drafted, when the New York Knicks drafted.
11:46Do you remember that?
11:47Yeah, I do remember that.
11:48The crash out?
11:48I do remember that.
11:49I mean, he's legit when he's-
11:55Yeah, but he's always injured.
11:57It's the Anthony Davis thing.
11:58Yeah.
12:00Knicks, Mavericks, Wizards, Celtics, Hawks, Warriors.
12:04Six teams.
12:05Crazy.
12:08Well, there you have it.
12:11I don't think there's any trades that would have been finalized that weren't made official
12:18by this point, or at least-
12:19You don't think it's 3-14, something's still coming on the fax?
12:23I mean-
12:23Just having some time printing?
12:26It's not impossible.
12:28I believe the Heat still have the fax machine from 1998 that Pat Riley used to quit-
12:34Fax the Knicks.
12:35Yeah.
12:35In New York.
12:37So, who knows?
12:37Maybe that fax machine's just a little delayed, but there you have it.
12:41Miami Heat, Stan Pat.
12:43All right.
12:44I like home run swings.
12:46Yeah.
12:48That Clippers trade, by the way, just kind of recapping some of the stuff here at the
12:52deadline.
12:53And the Clippers trade, they sent Zubongs to the Indiana Pacers.
13:00The Pacers sent Benedict Matherin, Isaiah Jackson, two first-round picks, and one second-round
13:06pick to the Clippers for Zubats.
13:09There were a ton of protections on those picks, but that's kind of crazy in itself, right?
13:13Like, a ton of draft capital, two first-round picks, even though they're protected, a second-rounder,
13:20and two players for Vika Zubats.
13:23That's a lot of hoo-ha.
13:27Kind of the package of the Heat we're offering.
13:30Tom says, the Brooklyn Nets are waiving Cam Thomas.
13:34All right.
13:36We'll add him to the list.
13:37We'll add him to the list right there.
13:39Cam Thomas.
13:40Bring him to Miami.
13:44Crazy, man.
13:47I get the feeling that Heat fans have right now, because it feels like we've done this
13:52movie before, where it gets to three o'clock on trade deadline day, and we're like, yeah,
13:57nothing happened.
13:59But they were in this one.
14:01I'm telling you, based on nothing other than my gut instinct, I am telling you, the final
14:08decision Milwaukee had to make was yes or no on the Heat.
14:12Everything else was superfluous or done with, and the only thing that they could have been
14:22considering was the Heat.
14:25Yeah, I just go back to that Barry Jackson tweet that you read right at the start of the
14:30show, which was, obviously, Bam was never part of the deal, but there wasn't something
14:36that the Heat had that the Bucs asked for and the Heat resisted that killed the deal.
14:41So, in other words, it wasn't like Milwaukee said, we want X player, and Miami's like, no.
14:45They were ready to give up LL Ware, obviously.
14:48That would be one of the guys where you might say, oh, they hesitated.
14:51It seems like, according to Barry Jackson, the Heat were willing to do anything that
14:57Milwaukee wanted.
14:58But if your anything wasn't good enough, and look, I know there's context with Giannis,
15:04and he needed to make a stink, but if your anything wasn't good enough, then that's where
15:08I do think there has to be some sort of shift in how you approach these situations.
15:16I do, because it's becoming, I get it, Hawk, it's becoming a little stale, you know?
15:22Yeah.
15:22You know I love this organization, but it's becoming a little stale.
15:25It's a hard sell when you're sitting two games above .500, and you're about to make the
15:32playing tournament for the fourth straight year.
15:35At some point, you want to connect on one of those swings.
15:39But even if you don't connect on the monster dong, you have to go back in the-
15:46No, but here's, but the analogy is perfect, though.
15:50If you go up to bat, and you take porn hacks trying to hit a monster dong over the wall,
15:58you can't, after strike three, say, you know what?
16:02Pitch to me again.
16:03I'm going to slap a single up the middle.
16:04Right, right, but if you're a hitter who is only taking porn hacks, and only swinging
16:10for the fences, and you consistently fail to get the ball over the fence-
16:15But you don't consistently fail.
16:16That's the argument.
16:18They brought to, they got Shaq here.
16:20They brought the big three here.
16:22They got Jimmy Butler here.
16:26Those are connections.
16:28I mean, they are.
16:29They are.
16:30It's not honest.
16:30I get it.
16:31It's not Gordon Haywood, who everybody wanted for a minute.
16:37Like, are we counting that against them?
16:39Gordon Bleep and Haywood?
16:42But they haven't connected in seven years.
16:47And I don't think that should be overshadowed.
16:50You don't need to connect with every year.
16:53You know what I mean?
16:53It's like when you had Jimmy Butler, you thought you had connected.
16:58And then a few years in, in other words, you might need to connect four years out or whatever,
17:04but it's not like you have to connect every year.
17:05But they connected in 2019.
17:07They brought in Jimmy Butler.
17:08That was the last time they had a true connection.
17:11And-
17:12Well, if you don't appreciate Norman Powell, that's on you.
17:15Yeah, no, I mean, those are great moves.
17:17I love Norman Powell.
17:18I think every Heat fan loves the fact that you got Norman Powell for essentially nothing.
17:23But where has it gotten you?
17:25And that's the frustrating part.
17:28It's gotten you right back to the place you were a season ago and a season prior to that.
17:34So if you're doing the same thing over and over again, and you're not hitting the ball over the wall,
17:40don't you go into the batting cage and fix your technique?
17:45Don't you go and check on the bats that you're using and try to find better equipment?
17:51But I wouldn't do that if I had Giannis available, who becomes available.
17:55A guy of this caliber becomes available once in a blue moon.
18:00So, no, this is not the time that I would have tried to slap a single.
18:07I gotcha.
18:10Sham Sharanya tweets out,
18:11John Morant remained with the Memphis Grizzlies past today's NBA trade deadline.
18:15Multiple teams were intrigued by Morant's talent, but none were willing to make a serious offer.
18:22Understandable.
18:22Yeah, that sounds like we'll give you Myron Gardner and a second round pick, and you're going to like it.
18:35There you go.
18:37The Florida Panthers, just to finish out your local headlines, the Florida Panthers.
18:41Yeah, just get better.
18:42Let's get ourselves in a better mood.
18:45Let's talk about the Cats.
18:47We're only eight points out of a wild card spot.
18:50But the Florida Panthers, Sergey Bobrovsky is 70 teams ahead of them.
18:55They're eight points out of the last wild card spot.
18:58There's 26 games left.
18:59Do the math.
19:01Sergey Bobrovsky has some pretty strong comments, essentially like, yeah, haven't been good this year.
19:05I've got to be better.
19:07The Panthers had a lead yesterday, two-goal lead.
19:09They blew that again, and they end up winning in a shootout 5-4.
19:14They beat the Bruins yesterday, but you said it earlier.
19:16Could have used two points there, not just a single point.
19:19They get the two points, but Boston gets a point as well, so you don't gain two points on the Bruins.
19:25And they're going to play the Lightning tonight, 7.30 p.m.
19:29This is their last game until February 26th, 21 days from today.
19:33That's a long break, man.
19:37We've got the Super Bowl coming up on Sunday, and the Miami Heat.
19:42Everybody practiced today, other than Tyler Hero.
19:44They're going to be in Boston tomorrow.
19:47They're going to face the New York Knicks and your boy Vooch, who is now on the Celtics.
19:54Yeah.
19:54Excuse me.
19:55They're going to face the Celtics with your boy Vooch.
20:00Checking here to see if I missed any big trade, but I don't think we missed anything.
20:06I'm looking at them all.
20:08I'm on Chris B. Haynes right now.
20:09Oh, Chris B. Haynes.
20:14He just got the Cam Thomas news as well.
20:18I think I had it before him.
20:22Should have broke it.
20:23Should have broke it.
