00:00NFL.com draft analyst Lance Zerline chose violence in his mock draft 1.0 and he has the Giants
00:13drafting LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane at number five. He's going no fly zone with this one. So
00:19if the Giants draft Delane at number five that means that the Titans came in and drafted Carnell
00:25Tate at number four or the Giants had made a play already in free agency for a wide receiver or it
00:31means that they really like a guy that they think might fall into the late first round or even to
00:36the second round. Drafting him at five would make complete sense and it wouldn't be a reach at all
00:42because one you get new defensive coordinator Denard Wilson a scheme fit. He's a DBDC a defensive back
00:49defensive coordinator. He wants physical and aggressive corners and Delane is as aggressive
00:55as they get in this draft. Number two Wink Martindale got his first round cornerback and he had the best
01:01year of his career with the Giants under the coordinator under Wink Martindale. Number three
01:07it puts pressure on Paulson Adebo and it also takes pressure off Paulson Adebo. Pressure to fight for
01:13that CB1 title but it also takes the pressure off of having to be CB1. So here's three plays that
01:20Delane made this past season that absolutely jumped out on tape and screamed draft me at number five
01:26in this Blue Rush draft breakdown. I encourage you all matter of fact this is your homework go watch
01:34this kid play. Go watch the tape from 2025 Mansoor Delane best corner in this in this draft. He is the
01:42Derrick Stingley Jr. He's the Denzel Ward the sauce gardener of this draft class at corner. He's the guy
01:49that you take in the in that top five that top 10 range because his kid is absolute like he is he's
01:55next. He's him. Let's watch this first play and then we're going to break this thing down.
02:00Denard Wilson warns corners that can be aggressive and play press man at the line. Boom Hughes play on the
02:07fourth and five I believe against Clemson past breakup in the fourth quarter. He's all over
02:13this wide receiver. This is what I want you guys to watch because I'm a wide receiver and when I'm
02:18watching this I can give this kid his flowers about because of how much stress he put on this
02:24receiver to try and make a play and didn't even come up with the ball at the end. Look at where this
02:29look at where this receiver split is. We call this top of the numbers top of the numbers split
02:34right here. Look at where this receiver the ball comes where he's trying to catch the ball
02:40at the end. I want you to keep an eye on that but because of that he's washed into his help because
02:47of of Delane's technique his aggressiveness and his smart his smarts by playing press man to man.
02:54He knows that he has say he has help to the inside. He since his help is to the inside he's going to
03:01wash and force this receiver to go inside to where the help is. This receiver is running that slant as
03:07we saw. So he's staying on his outside that's his technique staying outside funneling him into his to
03:15his help. We have a three-step slant here as a as a receiver. We want to try and beat him and get
03:21skinny as possible before we break it in because we want to keep as much space and distance away from
03:27the safety that's kind of come down. But we can't because Delane rides this guy has his up he's
03:34doing this upfield shoulder. You see this this receiver's right shoulder and he's running the
03:40route for him. Stays in phase doesn't really grab too much stays up that upfield shoulder and now when
03:47the ball comes he's there to make a play. Big boy stuff right there and when you're a D coordinator
03:53you want a corner that can understand scheme. Look at him on that outside. You know be careful
04:00there with maybe a little bit of grab but you know it's a bang bang type play. He might not get called
04:05for that. He's there. You see the safety coming down but he's right there on the upfield shoulder
04:10ready to play this receiver's right hand. His upfield hand. It's hard for a receiver or it's almost
04:16darn near impossible to catch it with his left hand. His inside hand. So he's attacking that right hand
04:22that right arm to make sure that that receiver can't be comfortable and bring that ball in and
04:29he's got he's got his hand in there on the ball. That's teach tape. That's locked down. That's a
04:35corner that needs to be drafted in the top five. Another thing I like about this kid he can play.
04:40He plays with his eyes on the football. He's here at the field. He's the field corner. Let's watch him.
04:45That's a throw by Pavea that almost went the other way. So we'll watch it on the we'll watch it on the
04:54on the other on the other copy but I love the way this kid uses his eyes trust his instincts and
05:02reads his keys to make a play. You see him circled here. We're using the the tv we're using the tv uh
05:09the the tv version so don't mind the severe thunderstorm and all this. Looks like he's in
05:14some sort of covered three maybe even some sort of uh quarters. He's got that deep third or if he's in
05:19quarters he's got this deep quarter. This this this deep quarter. You split the field up in the fours.
05:25Right now he is reading receiver. He's reading one to two to three through the quarterback. Reading this
05:34pass concept. Reading his keys and understanding what help. Where his help is. What these other zone
05:41defenders have. This defender has curled a flat. This guy right here is going to carry number uh carry
05:47number three or he may sit here on number three. I got to start the play for for for me to see it.
05:52But right now you see his eyes on the quarterback and he's reading his keys. Let's see what he sees
05:58with number one and number two. What I mean by number one and number two. Number one receiver number two
06:03number three right there. The eyes. He sees the receiver stops. He sees there's some sort of seam
06:11route but he's looking through to the quarterback. He's ready to play this seam route and get on this
06:18upfield shoulder if he has to. But he's reading the quarterback's shoulder. The quarterback's eyes
06:25and it looks like this quarterback is ready to throw this football to this little hitch route
06:30or this little stop route out here. One thing I really want you guys to see is how this guy
06:36attacks. He closes and he finishes on long throws and he finishes when the football gets there.
06:45He's already driving playing that upfield shoulder and gets his hand in there to knock the ball away.
06:50If that ball is is a half a second late he's jumping that and he's going pick six. But what I love
06:59watch how he look at how he drives on the football to make that play. You can see here again they slow
07:07it down. It doesn't do any justice when it slows it down. But now at the point of contact with the
07:13football there you've got the left arm to secure the tackle or secure you know secure the receiver
07:19and now he's got the right arm going in there to attack the football and knock the ball away. Last
07:26play we saw him attack the outside hand. This play you saw him attack the inside hand because it's a
07:32longer throw for the quarterback to make it out there. He went inside to try and jump it and to
07:38make the interception or to get the interception the big play. Couldn't get there so he does the next
07:43best thing and he knocks the football away. This is the play that if you're a giant scout if you are
07:53Denard Wilson if you're a Giants coach a defensive coach you're watching and you're saying I want this
08:01kid to be on my secondary. He's right here. We've got a stack formation by the receivers. You've got some
08:07sort of cover two man look I believe some sort of man to man look for sure. These two guys got to
08:15communicate. He knows who he has. This guy knows who he has. They're locked on man to man. In the NFL you
08:21might play what we call INO in and out but that's another that's another story for another day. But let's
08:26watch the eyes here on Delane and how he makes a play on this football. Gets hands on redirects drives on the
08:34football. Gets there and gets a hand in there late. I absolutely absolutely love it. God absolutely
08:40love it. I mean look how physical and look how smart he is. Not only does he help his his his the
08:49safety or the corner or nickel corner behind him by getting hands on this first receiver. He's getting
08:56hands on. So now this is kind of muddying up the water a little bit. Quarterback's going to be a little
09:00bit later with the throw because now he's getting some sort of press on the point man. Gets hands on
09:08lets him go pushes him to the outside to his man doesn't let him to get get inside and beat his his
09:14hell or is that that corner helps that corner by not allowing number one this is the first receiver
09:19to get inside and beat this corner and and and beat him on his leverage lets him go. Now he he closes
09:27on his man but what I like here you see how he's playing this inside leverage here and he's playing
09:36the sticks it's third and four knows something's going whether it's some sort of choice route whether
09:41it's some sort of out route you know this ball is going to come out quick they're trying to get this
09:45ball that's why they motion down to that stack they're trying to get this out route here hips are
09:50turned squared to the sideline which means he's waiting to drive on the football drive towards
09:58the sideline drive on this out route it helps that he's inside because now he knows I'm not going to
10:04get beat inside the only way you the only place you guys can throw this football is towards the
10:09outside somewhere so now this receiver does a terrible job well I don't know why he this receiver
10:16is breaking here to go to the outside you should just speed cut this but I'm not I'm not I'm not
10:20talking to the receiver right now talking about delaying uh I'm talking about Mansoor Delane and
10:25and how he watched the way he plays this so now receiver breaks watch the way he drives on this
10:32football to get in phase and to make a play on this football look at the clothes do you see the
10:39clothes let me rewind that look at how he closes let me play this full time look at how he closes on this
10:44football at receiver we're always taught to gain some sort of separation we want this here's the
10:51separation right there that's the separation about a yard yard and a half max separation still about a
10:58yard yard and a half now watch him close on this football step okay getting there step okay now he's
11:06in and when the ball gets there to the receiver's hands he is now recovered from a yard maybe yard and
11:14a half of separation he's now recovered to be in phase on the football you're gonna and he gets
11:19it out at the end this guy finishes when the ball gets to the point of contact that's what I'm telling
11:25y'all watch this throw quarterback kind of held on to this football a little bit too long but watch how
11:30he gets it he gets that left hand in there and look he's fighting and he's fighting until the end of
11:37the play you don't see corners doing that too much ah yes you do at dbu at lsu mansoor delane is not a
11:46gamble he's not a reach this is a corner that can come in and start from the giants and make plays and
11:52possibly make be maybe not all pro but make a pro bowl in his first year in his rookie year under a
11:59gnar wilson scheme in 358 coverage snaps my man allowed just 13 catches for 147 yards with no
12:10touchdowns that is strapping somebody up and the definition of lockdown but here's the most
12:16impressive thing zero penalties in 2025 the fact that he can be that aggressive and not get flagged
12:24mean this kid is technically sound and knows how to play the ball when it's in the air he also adds
12:30versatility to the secondary he's shown that he can play both press man and he can be effective in
12:36zone that's going to give denar wilson flexibility to press him on the outside on early downs have some
12:42cheat help to the inside disguise coverage match receivers at all levels the kid can do it all and
12:48you can do a lot with him a new dc with a db background needs his shutdown corner for his
12:55defense pass rush is already there when it comes to the giants grabbing delane would add instant value
13:01to the secondary that needs help right now on the back end if he's sitting there at five i take him
13:18oh
