00:01Welcome to Chateau DIY Win The Dream,
00:04the ultimate renovation showdown.
00:06Whose idea was this?
00:08Come on, mine.
00:09Take him here, Marie.
00:11Over four thrilling weeks, creativity meets competition.
00:14That looks wicked, doesn't it?
00:16Perfect fit. Oh, my gosh.
00:18As determined duos battle it out to prove.
00:21I'm having an absolute nightmare.
00:23They've got the vision, skill and grit
00:25to win the ultimate prize.
00:27I haven't got a clue.
00:28I can cry, I can literally cry.
00:30The keys to this breathtaking French property.
00:34Set on the outskirts of a Normandy nature park,
00:38the property boasts six bedrooms, four bathrooms,
00:42two salons, five additional rooms to renovate,
00:46perfectly pruned gardens, stunning outbuildings,
00:49its very own orchard and even a historic bread oven.
00:53It's a lot to play for and if we lose, I'll be fuming.
00:57Three heats and a grand finale where only the best will rise.
01:01Oh!
01:03All the pairs have to do is show they have the renovation know-how
01:07to impress me and various guest judges from Chateau DIY.
01:10I think this is really creative.
01:13What a transformation.
01:15In weekly challenges designed to push their creativity and skills to the limit.
01:19The clock is ticking.
01:21Win the week and they secure their spot in the grand finale.
01:24The dream is real, the stakes are high.
01:27This is Chateau DIY Win The Dream.
01:30This week, four pairs have been battling it out.
01:44Wow.
01:45To try and win this quarter of a million pound property in France.
01:49Now, only two pairs remain.
01:52The Burgundies, Xavier and Tash.
01:55And the Yellows, Elizabeth and Sam.
01:58That's the first one that's on.
01:59They've made it through renovation and petite challenges.
02:02Put it in, please. Just go.
02:04Where they were put into teams.
02:06That's it.
02:07To convert the Chateau's garages.
02:09For you.
02:10Into incredible entertainment spaces.
02:12What?
02:13Complete with a bespoke bar.
02:15And this was Sam's tiling.
02:17This is quite an accomplishment, actually.
02:18Xavier has done a fantastic job of fitting these lovely bits of timber.
02:22And back in their own pairs.
02:24Right, tools down, that's it.
02:25Boy, don't go.
02:26Yeah.
02:27Their second challenge was to renovate the Chateau's guest bedrooms.
02:30It's up straight.
02:31The vision is coming to life.
02:33Both Tash and Xavier.
02:35This is a big transformation.
02:37And Elizabeth and Sam.
02:39First impression.
02:40Wow.
02:41Impressed with their skills.
02:42Pretty slick, isn't it?
02:43But now, they're going head-to-head to try and reach the grand finale.
02:48But for this final challenge, the pairs have left the prized property
02:52and will be competing at a familiar Chateau DIY location in Normandy.
02:57The glorious Chateau de la Lacelle.
03:00To take on one of their toughest challenges yet.
03:03Only one pair can make it through.
03:11Oh, wow.
03:12Wow.
03:13Oh, my gosh.
03:14We are very happy to be here.
03:16It does feel more real each day that we're here.
03:19Yeah.
03:20Each challenge, we're pushing ourselves and doing new things.
03:22Look at the garden.
03:23Oh, it's so nice.
03:25We're in it to win it.
03:26Let's go.
03:27Oh, wow.
03:28It's gorgeous.
03:29There's only two couples left.
03:30We want to be in that final.
03:32We don't want to leave our dream behind, do we?
03:34No.
03:41Good morning.
03:42Good morning.
03:43And welcome to your final challenge of the week.
03:46Yay.
03:47As you know, running a Chateau doesn't just take exceptional DIY skills, but also usually requires
03:54you running them as a successful business.
03:57Which is why we've brought you to the magical Chateau de la Lacelle.
04:01And helping me set and judge this challenge are this gorgeous castle's custodians.
04:07Terry, Ashley and Tracy.
04:09Oh, wow.
04:10Cool.
04:11Yay.
04:12Yay.
04:20So, can you tell our final two pairs what event they're going to help you put on over
04:24the next couple of days?
04:26Our Chateau is all about local community and restoring it back to its former glory.
04:30Last year, we created this beautiful formal garden to create events in.
04:33So, tomorrow, we'd like you to set up a garden party for our friends and family.
04:37Oh, wow.
04:38Amazing.
04:39Oh, that's exciting.
04:40That's cool.
04:41You will each have to prepare half the formal garden for up to 30 guests.
04:45Oh, wow.
04:4630.
04:47Brilliant.
04:48Okay.
04:49So, we'd like you to prepare welcome drinks, canapes, tablescapes and flowered arches.
04:54Wow.
04:55Amazing.
04:56Amazing.
04:57That's exciting.
04:58That's so cool.
04:59Today, we'd like you to serve our guests and ensure the highest quality of event management
05:02throughout the day.
05:03Yeah.
05:04Of course.
05:05Each pair will have a budget of 300 euros.
05:07Okay.
05:08Okay.
05:09That's not very much, is it?
05:10You will be judged in your individual pairs.
05:12And remember, one pair will be leaving the competition.
05:16Oh.
05:17I've got to go for it on this one.
05:18Yeah.
05:19While the winning pair will be taking one step closer to their dream and heading to the grand
05:23finale.
05:24Wow.
05:25Yeah.
05:26As this is such an important decision, we'll also be looking at all the challenges you've
05:31competed in so far.
05:32Oh.
05:33It's okay.
05:34It's okay.
05:35It's okay.
05:36The stakes have never been higher and there's all to play for.
05:39Oh.
05:40So you guys have a lot to do for tomorrow.
05:41So good luck.
05:45Your time starts now.
05:50In 24 hours time, guests will be arriving from all over Normandy.
05:54And with the area famous for its food and drink, expectations will be sky high for our pairs.
06:01It's important that everyone has a good time.
06:03Yes.
06:04Not wanting any of their guests to feel left out.
06:06The bulk of it needs to go on food and drink.
06:08Of course.
06:09Tash and Xavier are aiming to cover all bases for food.
06:12So we need to think about how we're going to serve a vegan canapé.
06:16Yeah.
06:17And drink.
06:18It's an alcohol free drink.
06:19I would like to find elderflower.
06:21If you make an elderflower syrup, we could do like elderflower with a like sparkling water.
06:28Yeah.
06:29I think it'd be really nice to use as much local produce as we can.
06:32So we want to do something with pears.
06:33Yeah.
06:34Like a pear and blue cheese tartlet.
06:38Yeah.
06:39We really want to celebrate the area that we're in.
06:41I'm anxious.
06:42It's going to be fine.
06:43It's going to be fine.
06:44We're together.
06:45It's a lot in a small timeframe.
06:47We don't have a lot of time to turn this around.
06:50No.
06:51The pressure's on.
06:52The party will be divided into two, with each pair hosting half of the formal gardens.
06:59As part of the challenge, they'll be able to make use of the chateau's garden furniture to help arrange their layout.
07:05That's a good spot, that.
07:06Yeah.
07:07Along with being allowed to incorporate anything else they find around the chateau.
07:12I don't know about you, but you know where the tables have been set?
07:15Yeah.
07:16Yeah.
07:17This is our area here.
07:19Yeah.
07:20I was thinking about dotting them around.
07:23Don't you want people together, though?
07:24Would it not be better to spread them out and then people can move around to different tables?
07:28Maybe a little bit, but I think you've got to force people together.
07:30Some of these people may not know each other.
07:33We need to get them talking with each other and then create their own enjoyment.
07:37Oh, it's our first big disagreement.
07:39I don't think...
07:40You can't have separate tables.
07:41That is antisocial.
07:42I mean, the garden's massive.
07:44We don't just want people in one clump on the grass.
07:47No, I get...
07:48No, no, no, no.
07:49I'm understanding what you're saying.
07:50I'm open to that.
07:51If they're in one area, people are just going to stand there.
07:54They're not going to enjoy, like, this view.
07:56No, no, I get that now.
07:57Because there's nothing here.
07:58Do you know what I mean?
07:59Yeah.
08:00Roughly, how many do we need then?
08:01How many tables?
08:02The biggest one here, one down there, one near the drop, and maybe one up here.
08:07Yeah.
08:08Depending which table there are, there may be a piece of information about the garden,
08:13but they only get told if they move to that table.
08:15Yeah, that's nice.
08:16Anyway, we've got a good plan now for the tables, haven't we?
08:19Yeah.
08:22I think we're going to bring experience to this challenge.
08:25They're really nice.
08:26They're quite a good match.
08:27They match at the back.
08:28It's something I've been doing for nearly 20 years.
08:31Front of house, working at a very prestigious country manor house.
08:37I'm really pleased with this furniture.
08:39Yeah.
08:40So I think we're going to really come up with the goods on this.
08:44Helping to decide which pair will make it through to the grand finale,
08:48a chateau DIY's very own Terry, Ashley and Tracy.
08:53These three know how to pull off a party.
08:55The chateau feels alive again, and that is the best feeling in the world.
08:59So what do you look for when you're hosting an event?
09:04I think there's a number of things that people are going to have to take into account for tomorrow.
09:08One, weather.
09:09Two, requirements.
09:10Three would probably be the scheme of the garden, see if they match into what we've already got here.
09:14See if it follows and same colours and everything like that.
09:17So what about yourself? What are you going to be looking for?
09:19So I think dietary requirements is really important.
09:21Obviously I'm a vegetarian.
09:23And then again, the gluten freeze and all sorts of intolerances now.
09:27So it's quite difficult now to feed people and just get to what they need.
09:32I think another thing is obviously quite a lot of people are going to be driving here as well.
09:35So if they're going to be creating any non-alcoholic drinks, as well as alcoholic drinks,
09:40just so there's the options there for different people.
09:43It's a lot to consider, isn't it?
09:45You have to be practical, you have to be clever and a lot of the stuff you have to do yourself.
09:48So they'll learn that.
09:51So you guys have hosted plenty of parties here. What makes the perfect chateau party?
09:55We're really attentive as hosts. We want to make sure our guests are comfortable,
09:59make sure they have everything they need. Everyone leaves happy.
10:01So that's what we'll kind of be looking for from the pairs for this.
10:04Well, I think there's definitely one thing we all agree on.
10:07We can't wait to see what the pairs create.
10:09It's going to be exciting. Absolutely.
10:15As part of this challenge...
10:17Gorgeous.
10:18..both pairs will need to create tablescapes complete with floral centrepieces.
10:23What is our colour scheme here?
10:25I want to go with the colours that they already have in the garden,
10:28so, like, purples and pinks and whites.
10:30I'm not going to go for, like, red or orange or anything
10:32because they don't have that sort of colour.
10:34They only have €300 to spend for the entire event,
10:38so a little will have to go a long way.
10:41So these are not arranged, so I guess maybe they ask for a price.
10:46Bonjour, madame.
10:48Combien de frères à la barre dans le bouquet?
10:51Quatre euros?
10:53Par fleur?
10:54Oui.
10:55Which four euros a flower?
10:56OK, so get four white of those.
10:58OK.
11:00And we'll just get two pink.
11:02Yes.
11:03There you go.
11:04Perfect.
11:05That's everything?
11:06Yes.
11:07So that's 17 euros, s'il vous plaît.
11:09Merci beaucoup.
11:10Merci beaucoup.
11:11Merci.
11:12Au revoir.
11:13Around the corner...
11:16These, I like these.
11:17I like the...
11:18What are they there?
11:19Sam is in full swing with their floral arrangements.
11:22They're nice.
11:23That's a hydrangea, that.
11:24Hydrangea?
11:25Yeah.
11:26Hydrangea?
11:27I don't...
11:28Can you go after and spell it out for me?
11:30It's a hydrangea.
11:31Isn't that what I just said?
11:32No.
11:33You said a hydrangea.
11:36Sorry.
11:37We've got hydrangeas in our own garden.
11:39That's why I love them.
11:40What have we got?
11:41Hi...
11:42Hi...
11:43Why are you laughing?
11:44Hydra...
11:45Hydrangea.
11:46Hydrangea.
11:47Hydrangea.
11:48So we should get five of them.
11:49They're £5.50 a stand.
11:51It's substantial, that.
11:52They are big.
11:53It's just focusing...
11:54Build it around this hydrangea.
11:56I love the way you've become a floral expert.
12:00These are three for one.
12:02I really like them.
12:04I think we'd be better getting something bigger like peonies.
12:07Maybe in a pale pink or a pinky white.
12:10Yeah.
12:11Cos they take up loads of space in the vase.
12:13There's more to it.
12:14What should we do then?
12:15Pick out which ones we want?
12:16Yeah.
12:17Three.
12:19Merci.
12:21Perfect.
12:23Merci, Vocky.
12:24Fantastic.
12:25That's spectacular.
12:26I'm running through.
12:27OK.
12:28Merci.
12:29Merci.
12:30Au revoir.
12:31Au revoir.
12:32Really happy with them?
12:35Yeah, they're beautiful.
12:39Up next for the pairs is a trip to the local supermarket.
12:42Yay!
12:43We're in!
12:47We need to focus first on the canapes.
12:49It's really important that we get the food right, I think, at the end of the day.
12:52Once we're happy we've got enough of food, then we need to focus on the drinks.
12:55Yeah.
12:56While Tash and Xavier's focus is on food, Elizabeth and Sam have other priorities.
13:01I'm just going to have a very quick look for outdoor games just here.
13:04What's this one?
13:05Bulls.
13:06Get that one.
13:07I'm sure you want more bulls.
13:08Yeah.
13:09We've already done bulls, aren't we?
13:10Yeah, but it's meant to be like a French event.
13:13Let's think about getting job lots of wine.
13:16How about if we get like three of these?
13:19Yeah.
13:21You've got to have at least a bottle each.
13:24So 15 bottles?
13:25Yeah.
13:27They're going to be absolutely sussled, aren't we?
13:29Never not.
13:30It's going to end up being a lot of money there, so we haven't even got any food.
13:34We've got non-alcoholic chardonnay, non-alcoholic white wine.
13:39Just get one of those and a white.
13:41Non-alcoholic rouge.
13:42I mean, that is a lot of stuff.
13:44Yeah.
13:45I think we're going to be touching 100 euros on drink.
13:48I hope we've not undervalued the food.
13:51That is my biggest worry at this point.
13:53We're in Normandy, France, where two couples are going head to head.
14:05I don't think we should get any more alcohol.
14:07Tash.
14:09Cheese.
14:10Hosting a garden party for up to 30 guests at a prestigious chateau.
14:14I'm going to get some pastry, cut it, put the pear on top, put the cheese on top.
14:19Oh, it's just a piece of pastry, like a square?
14:21Yeah.
14:22A little bit of blue cheese and a bit of pear on it?
14:23Yeah.
14:24OK, fine.
14:25But they only have 24 hours to get ready for the event.
14:27We do want to keep it simple.
14:28We want to keep it very light and easy to eat.
14:30We don't want to get anything that's too mucky or anything that's going to be too heavy.
14:34We're going to do some little crusty breads with olives and tomatoes on for veggies.
14:41And then we're going to do a fish one, which will be a bit more complicated to cook.
14:46So we'll do like a pea puree and scallop and bacon is the plan.
14:51They look really nice.
14:53Do you want to get the fish?
14:54Should we get the fish?
14:55We're going with the scallops because that's what we know how to cook, yeah?
14:57Yeah.
14:58All right.
14:59I'll go get some peas.
15:00Hello.
15:01Hello.
15:02Hello.
15:03Can we have the Noirs of Saint-Jacques, then?
15:06Yes.
15:07Do you have more than that?
15:08That's all.
15:09I think we'll take everything you have.
15:13Please.
15:14I don't know if he's got 30, so I'll just buy what he does have.
15:25Ah, that's quite good.
15:2821 euros.
15:30So what are we doing next? We've got gin.
15:35Over with Elizabeth and Sam, they are finally turning their attention to food.
15:39How much of these are you? Not only do you get meat in these, your olives, your cheese.
15:44Some of those little breadsticks, most people eat meat in France, don't they?
15:47Just get two of those, then, and then we'll get some other cheeses.
15:50What about a thing of brie? Yeah.
15:53God, it's really strong, the smell of that fridge.
15:56So I was thinking maybe, like, goat's cheese with honey.
16:00Goat's cheese and honey? Yeah.
16:01Sounds really good.
16:04£2.85 each.
16:07What about, like, a garlic cheese and pate? Yeah, pate and garlic cheese.
16:11OK, let's see what there is.
16:13Six looks like the cheapest one, doesn't it?
16:16Right, we've got 30 guests.
16:18You get six out of each one.
16:20Yeah.
16:21One more does a glass for every one.
16:26Elizabeth and Sam only have 197 euros left of their budget
16:31to pay for their food and drink.
16:33It's not all for me.
16:34Go, go, go.
16:35Go, go, go.
16:36While Xavier and Tash have 283 euros left to spend.
16:40We're at 100 already.
16:42Could be in trouble.
16:43That's the booze, then.
16:44A third of the budget on booze seems fine.
16:46You're going to make a guess?
16:47It's 220.
16:48How much do you think all this is going to come to you?
16:50Erm...
16:51I think maybe 110.
16:54I'm going above 170.
16:56Are you?
16:57Can't see it being near that.
16:59Might have to get more wine, then, if it's not 170.
17:01I think so.
17:01I think we're going to have a lot of money left.
17:04195 euros.
17:05Oh, brilliant.
17:06What, no?
17:06Five.
17:07You've lost, Sam.
17:09You said 170.
17:09153, it is.
17:11Is it?
17:11Wow.
17:12So, I am the winner.
17:13Including the flowers for their tablescape,
17:18Tash and Xavier have spent just over 212 euros.
17:22That was a good shopping trip, wasn't it?
17:23While Sam and Elizabeth have spent just over 256 euros in total.
17:30The food and drink may be sorted,
17:33but with the party looming,
17:36the pairs can waste no time getting everything else ready.
17:39Do you know this is nearly three metres high, this arch?
17:41Is it?
17:42Yes.
17:42While Elizabeth and Sam make a start on the frame
17:44for their flower arch,
17:46Tash and Xavier want to try and find a local ingredient.
17:49Terry, Ashley.
17:51For their drinks menu.
17:52Hi.
17:52Hi.
17:52All right.
17:53A couple of questions?
17:54Of course, Ben, yeah.
17:55Do you know of any existing elderflower or...
17:59There's plenty of elderflower.
17:59There's plenty of elderflower.
18:00No.
18:00If you go down the drive,
18:01you'll see everything off to your right hand side.
18:03There's a forest full of all sorts.
18:04Right.
18:04Help yourselves.
18:05Incredible.
18:06That's fabulous.
18:09Foraging o'clock.
18:12Do we want the flowers?
18:16Yes, that's the bit that does the flavouring.
18:19That one smells really good.
18:20Xavier is going to make a nice elderflower cordial
18:22to go in our drinks.
18:23Let's go.
18:25To extract the elderflower flavour,
18:28Xavier will need to prepare the syrup now
18:30and leave it in the fridge overnight.
18:32One kilo of sugar.
18:34Water.
18:34Bring it out to a simmer.
18:38Let the sugar dissolve.
18:40That's the plan.
18:43Just cleaning them off.
18:45Get rid of the brown bits.
18:47I have made cordials,
18:48but I've not made elderflower cordial specifically.
18:51Elderflower.
18:54Zest of three lemons.
18:57It's going to go in with the elderflower.
18:59And it's all just going to get tipped on top.
19:00Let it steep.
19:01And that, overnight, hopefully,
19:04will become elderflower cordial.
19:07Yeah, I think it would be really nice
19:08if we can have something that we've made
19:11from this garden itself
19:12for a garden party in this garden.
19:15I think that's really cool.
19:16I think the judges will like that.
19:19The teams are coming to the end of a full-on day.
19:23I'm speeding through this one.
19:25It seems to be going really well.
19:26I think we've managed the time all right today, haven't we?
19:29I mean, there's going to be a lot to do tomorrow.
19:32There's a lot to do.
19:33But I think doing simple canapes is good.
19:37And then there's a lot of dressing, isn't there?
19:39Yeah.
19:40Yay!
19:41Action, action is done.
19:43If we won the chateau,
19:45we would absolutely be hosting like this all the time.
19:47That is exactly what we want it for.
19:48Literally.
19:49And we would love to host events there and things like that.
19:52So this is sort of a small scale, I suppose,
19:53of what we want to do, of what our dream is.
19:55Yeah.
19:56It's a big day today, isn't it?
20:06Major day today.
20:06Massive day, yeah.
20:08Oh, what's that?
20:09Final day, possibly for us.
20:11Yeah.
20:12Got to make the most of it.
20:13I think we've really got to bring it today.
20:16We don't want any regrets, do we?
20:17See if it goes across the path.
20:19I figured it goes here.
20:21I'm quite nervous, feeling it, definitely.
20:25Careful, it's going to fall over.
20:27I've never done a flower arch before,
20:28so it's going to be an interesting experience.
20:31There's a lot riding on it.
20:33The pairs only have the morning to prepare their side of the garden
20:37before the guests arrive for the party.
20:39What's this?
20:40Over in the barn...
20:42Oh, wow.
20:43..Tash has found something for their flower arch.
20:46They have loads of faux flowers here.
20:48Well, that's brilliant.
20:49Can we use them?
20:50Some pruners there, if you want them.
20:52Lovely, thank you.
20:53Can we use these?
20:53That's very handy.
20:54Yeah?
20:55Yeah, yeah, help yourself.
20:56Nice.
20:56I'll go up the top and see if we've got another bag there
20:59of the greenery.
21:02Yeah.
21:03Imagine.
21:04Wow.
21:06I don't know what, is that just some pruners?
21:07There's some there.
21:08Hey, you can have a little rummage.
21:09Thank you so much.
21:10What's in there?
21:11Thank you, thank you, thank you.
21:13Oh, and those glasses.
21:13This is such a pint.
21:14Oh, there's like...
21:15Now she's caught the bouquet now, I'm in trouble.
21:18That's it, you're going to have to marry her now.
21:19Our plan is to get married in the chateau.
21:22While Tash and Xavier are going for a bit of faux foliage...
21:26Shall I get more ivy?
21:27Please, yeah, that would be good.
21:29Elizabeth and Sam are going for the more natural look
21:31for their arch.
21:32I've never done a flower arch in my life.
21:35So the plan is we're going to take ivy
21:37from a couple of these amazing trees
21:39and we're going to put them over the flower arch.
21:43We don't want to use fake plants, fake flowers.
21:47Liz is very strong on that.
21:49Can I just have a few of the biggish ones?
21:51Yeah.
21:51It's just going to go into the arch.
21:53They are so pretty.
21:57There's lots to do.
21:59I'm just getting everything out of the bags now
22:00so I can have a look at what I've got,
22:01but I've got a really nice long piece of floral decoration here,
22:06so I'm going to probably start with that.
22:07I'd like to offer to lend you my height,
22:10but I think we're about the same way, aren't we?
22:13How's it going?
22:14Oh, this is just not, like, going to be easy
22:17because I'm too small, frankly,
22:19but it is what it is.
22:22Are they artificial plants, are they?
22:23Yeah.
22:24In the upstairs kitchen...
22:33My elderflower cordial seems to have worked.
22:36It tastes of elderflower, so that's good.
22:39Xavier is making a start on his canapes.
22:42I actually have made the scallops before.
22:44I have made them for Tasha on a date night.
22:48Now, time to heat.
22:50They're things you do for a chateau.
22:55It's also a bit daunting
22:56because I found out yesterday
22:58that Ashley is a trained chef.
23:02So that adds an extra dimension to the judging.
23:05So this is puff pastry
23:07for the pear and blue cheese tarts.
23:13I feel comfortable cooking, I feel calm.
23:15This is way less stressful
23:17than screwing together bits of wood for me.
23:20I think they're doing more sort of picky bits
23:26is what they've been saying,
23:28but their decor will be excellent
23:30because they have a great eye for that kind of stuff.
23:33So I'm very interested to see
23:34what their side of the garden looks like
23:36and whether they are actually cooking beans on toast,
23:39as Elizabeth keeps telling me.
23:41I don't think they are.
23:42I've never made a canapé in my life.
23:51Absolutely not.
23:52So this is something new for me.
23:54But just looking at the colours
23:55and what it looks like,
23:57it was very tasty.
23:58If I was offered this at a garden party,
24:00I would really enjoy.
24:02It looks really good.
24:03I think you produce your best
24:05when you're under pressure,
24:06but you're stuck it out.
24:08I think stress can cause issues.
24:11This is like a fantasy dream, this.
24:13This should not be us, this.
24:15But it is us, so...
24:17It's incredible, isn't it?
24:18Right, we need to get cracking.
24:20The guests are going to be here soon.
24:22As the clock ticks down...
24:24Have you set up the tray?
24:25Where's the tray?
24:26It's a race to be ready in time.
24:28Just focus.
24:28That end's done.
24:29Focus.
24:30Oh, that one's broken.
24:31Start again.
24:32How are you feeling, dear?
24:33Very stressed.
24:35Probably need a spoon, darling.
24:36A spoon's not going to help me.
24:38Next job.
24:39Dressing the tables.
24:40So we're quite keen on having
24:42four pieces of interesting information.
24:45Yep.
24:45The chateau or the surrounding area.
24:47Yeah.
24:48Got a few snippets for you.
24:50Fantastic.
24:50Let's quickly do these.
24:54What happened?
24:56My tablescapes are just getting blown over.
24:59Literally, it's all on the floor.
25:00That tree there.
25:02So it's called a hornbeam.
25:03This is the only living thing in the garden
25:05that is original...
25:07Wow.
25:07..to the garden.
25:09I'll just pop those in.
25:12What am I going to do?
25:13This is an actual nightmare, though, isn't it?
25:15They're the four mystery to our information we wanted.
25:18That will keep the gas entertained.
25:21It's too windy for this.
25:22And I've got to redo everything a thousand times.
25:25And it's not just the tables that need dressing.
25:28To be honest, I just need a minute to, like,
25:30bring myself back down and get changed.
25:32Oh, my word.
25:39How high do you want the topping up?
25:41That's fine, that's fine.
25:42Just do it like that.
25:43Why the heck?
25:45That's ridiculous.
25:47It's snapped off.
25:48I'll just stand by it for a bit.
25:50A bounce?
25:52It's a joke.
25:53Ridiculous.
25:55We'll have to hold it all day.
25:57That's giving it more strength, that.
25:59Do it again, yeah?
26:00Can you just put that candle back in?
26:01It's not going well.
26:02The arch just nearly fell over.
26:04It's a bit wobbly.
26:05Where have my napkins gone?
26:06We're at Chateau de Lalasselle in Normandy,
26:19where two pairs of could-be chateau owners
26:22have battled it out in renovation challenges.
26:26And now they need to host the perfect garden party.
26:31Woo!
26:32Just in the nick of time, both sides of the garden are ready.
26:35Really nice job.
26:37We did it.
26:39Here come the guests.
26:40Perfect timing.
26:41Only one pair will make it through to the grand finale.
26:45Oh, bless them.
26:46They're really cool.
26:47Would you like a glass of cremante?
26:49I think I would.
26:50Would you?
26:51Yeah!
26:51I know.
26:53Welcome to Chateau de Lalasselle.
26:55Here we go. Enjoy.
26:55Welcome.
26:56Would you like a glass of cremante?
26:57Yeah.
26:58Enjoy.
26:59My name's Elizabeth and this is Sam.
27:01Good afternoon.
27:01Miss.
27:02Miss.
27:02Miss.
27:03And if you need a little shady spot,
27:05if it's warm, just under the trees, lovely.
27:07Yeah.
27:08Tell you what, I'll hold this.
27:09You look after the guests.
27:12Sam decides to stay and prop up their flower arch,
27:15leaving Elizabeth to serve their guests.
27:18There we go.
27:20Anybody else like a ton?
27:21Oh, bien.
27:22Bonjour.
27:23Bonjour.
27:23Tash and Xavier are wanting to make a good first impression
27:26with their drinks list.
27:28Do you like some cremante?
27:29And we've got some elderflower.
27:31Could I smell the flower, please?
27:32Yes, absolutely.
27:33Elderflower in the cremante, yeah?
27:35No, no, no.
27:36Or just soda water?
27:37Yeah, soda water.
27:37Yeah, yeah.
27:38Soda water.
27:38Yeah, I'll get soda water.
27:39So what is this?
27:41So this is elderflower cordial,
27:42which we made from the trees on the ground.
27:44Really?
27:45Yeah.
27:45So if you want a drop of that in the cremante,
27:47you're more than welcome.
27:48Oh, yeah.
27:48You have plenty of it.
27:49Yeah.
27:51Wow.
27:52It's quite a plungent one.
27:54No, no, that's absolutely fine.
27:55We've got non-alcoholic options
27:57and we'll be serving elderflower collins,
28:00which we can do a non-alcoholic version as well,
28:02and a bee's knees cocktail.
28:04Got it.
28:05Which is honey, lemon, and gin.
28:07Sounds a good selection.
28:10Just heard that that is...
28:12Elderflower.
28:12Yeah.
28:13Made with elderflowers from the trees to serve them.
28:15This year?
28:15Yeah.
28:16So it's...
28:16Just yesterday, I went and picked them
28:18and made it overnight.
28:19Would you like some in?
28:21Yeah, please.
28:22With the guests thoroughly impressed
28:24by Xavier and Tasha's welcome drinks,
28:27Elizabeth and Sam are trying to keep up with their rivals.
28:30I think maybe we should get the canapes out.
28:32Maybe we should get that started.
28:33Yeah, let's take the lead with that, then.
28:34Cos it is nice to have a canapé with a drink.
28:37Yes.
28:37Cos you can have a wander.
28:38OK.
28:38You do that and I'll keep it up.
28:40You stay here for drinks.
28:41I'll test him to have a guest.
28:42And I'll be back in a minute.
28:44Yeah.
28:44I'll just take a selection.
28:45All right.
28:46Come on.
28:46Stress.
28:47Are you OK?
28:48Yeah.
28:48Oh, good.
28:50Let's just use these.
28:54I'm just going to start going out with a few canapés.
28:57Hi, everyone.
28:58You all OK?
28:59I thought you might appreciate some little canapés along with your drinks.
29:04Elizabeth's gone out with some food, so...
29:07So we've got a garlic cheese, we've got goat's cheese and cranberry
29:10and a little drizzle of honey.
29:12Help yourselves, yeah.
29:14Wow.
29:15It's so nice.
29:16Oh, good.
29:17Despite Elizabeth's efforts...
29:19Would you like some canapés while you're sitting here?
29:21Oh, thank you very much.
29:22..they are losing guests to the other side of the garden.
29:26I've got some canapés.
29:27Try as much as you like.
29:31That's really nice with the pear.
29:32Oh, good.
29:33I'm glad.
29:34Canapés.
29:36We've got scallops with pear mint puree and pancetta,
29:40puff pastry, blue cheese, pear and walnut,
29:43and then we've got tomato cristian,
29:44which is vegan, if anyone is vegan.
29:47There you go.
29:48It's very, very tasty.
29:49Thank you very much.
29:50I'm glad you're enjoying it.
29:51I thought the whole thing was fabulous.
29:54Oh, good.
29:54I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
29:57Would you like a drink?
29:58I'd love to try your elderflower.
30:00Yeah?
30:00I have plenty of elderflower left.
30:03It's come out really nicely.
30:05Lovely.
30:06There you go.
30:06Brilliant, thank you so much.
30:07Enjoy.
30:09Hello.
30:09Some more, yeah, of course.
30:11I'm having a great time up here, protecting the flower arch,
30:16but I don't want to be here at all the time during the event.
30:20So as soon as Elizabeth is free, we're going to find a quiet corner we can put to it.
30:24It'll still be a feature, but there's no point in me just standing here, I don't think.
30:27No.
30:27It's done its job, because everyone's noticed it coming in.
30:30Oh, Jeff, you've done really well.
30:33I know.
30:34I need you to help me a bit now.
30:35Well, we're now going to move this.
30:36Right, we'll leave you to it, Sam.
30:38Thanks, Max.
30:40Sam's been holding up the archway for half an hour.
30:43He's desperate to serve people.
30:45It's got to be on display somewhere, but downstairs, what do you think, down the corner?
30:50What, leaning against the wall?
30:51Yeah.
30:52Oh, gosh.
30:55I think the first impact of Sam and Elizabeth's arch was fantastic,
30:58but I think they've both got to get out there, mingle and hand out the canapes.
31:04More drinks?
31:05Anyone?
31:06So I've been told this is really great stuff.
31:09Oh, that's good to hear.
31:10Does it take long time to make?
31:11It took him about an hour to make it, I think.
31:15Loved your canapes.
31:16Unbelievable.
31:17Glad to hear it.
31:19Nailed it.
31:23You do the canapes, I'll go round with drinks.
31:28Have you looked at the tables situated around the edge of the garden?
31:33They've got information on them.
31:34Oh, have they?
31:35About the chateau, the area.
31:37Right.
31:37There we go.
31:38Enjoy.
31:39Thank you so much.
31:39And then that's...
31:40That's pate.
31:41What type of pate, is it?
31:42It's...
31:43It's, um...
31:45Pate de coie gras?
31:47Pate de campagne?
31:48Uh, I think it's that one, yeah, campagne pate, yeah.
31:50I don't know what Liz is doing over our side.
31:52Looks like she's trying to steal my guests.
31:54She's welcome to try.
31:56I have every faith they're staying here for the cocktails anyway.
32:00Any of these gluten-free?
32:01Unfortunately, we're not.
32:03Okay.
32:04I'm sorry about that.
32:05They look beautiful, but...
32:06Yeah.
32:08Now, to the food.
32:10Shall we dig in?
32:10Shall we have a try?
32:11Yes, have a try.
32:11Yeah, let's do.
32:13Mm-hmm.
32:15What's the verdict?
32:16So, he's took so much time creating these kind of things.
32:19Mm-hmm.
32:20And you can see in his presentation with them.
32:23Visually, for me, that's spectacular.
32:24When it comes to a different level, it's about the presentation, isn't it?
32:28So, Tracey, you're vegetarian.
32:30How did you find the selection available?
32:32I think Zav's selection was a lot better
32:35because, obviously, this is the gluten-free one,
32:38and then we've got the vegetarian and vegan.
32:40So, they've catered for every single person that comes here.
32:44So, this really is, to me, outstanding.
32:48I think as much of a selection as Sam and Elizabeth have provided,
32:52they still haven't gone with, like, a gluten-free option.
32:55So, it's kind of a little bit of a letdown.
32:57That they've gone with so much, and they haven't thought about that.
33:01Mm-hmm.
33:01I guess you guys attend lots of garden parties,
33:04so creating something that stands out is the challenge.
33:07Anybody can go and open a packet of food...
33:08Absolutely.
33:09..or crack open a bottle of drink.
33:10To create something bespoke for your guests with them in mind
33:13is something special.
33:15I think that's what we're all about, isn't it, really,
33:17is just going that extra step.
33:19Everything we do is luxury, isn't it, you know?
33:22And that's what the Chateau is about.
33:24The attention to detail.
33:25Absolutely.
33:25And Zav, for me, Zav and Tash have nailed the attention to detail.
33:30And Tash and Xavier's hospitality isn't stopping at the food.
33:34One bee's knees, sir.
33:36You're all right.
33:36Oh, that's a gin and lemon cocktail. Do you like lemon?
33:39I like anything.
33:40I need to make three bee's knees.
33:43Three?
33:44Yes.
33:44Do you want me to come and help you? Are you OK?
33:46No, it's OK, I'm OK with that.
33:47You're OK, all right.
33:47You just entertain.
33:48OK.
33:48Top-ups of any clamor.
33:52Four.
33:53Four.
33:54Three of my bee's knees.
33:56They're catching on now.
33:58Because we have one gentleman who is a keen gin drinker.
34:02And he thinks the bee's knee is the bee's knees.
34:05So he's recommending it to people.
34:07There we go.
34:07Drop of honey.
34:08And then we serve the guests.
34:11Time is almost up for the two pairs.
34:14Sam has one last-ditch attempt to try and claw back some guests.
34:19Hello, ladies.
34:20Beautiful, Sam.
34:21The game of a bowl awaits.
34:23And it's now.
34:25Sam has made loads of new friends.
34:27He's quite popular with the ladies.
34:29He's teaching them how to play bowls.
34:32I'm filling up the wine glasses, so they're going to have a nice time.
34:35This bowl is holiday.
34:37Yeah.
34:38The idea of the game is to get your bowl as close to the jack as possible without hitting it.
34:45Don't hit it.
34:46You have to hit it.
34:47You can hit it as well.
34:51Oh, very good.
34:53You flick.
34:54You flick?
34:55Yes.
34:56Oh, wow.
34:58Wow.
34:58You're so good.
35:00Five stars.
35:02Now, is there anything else you want now?
35:04If you could just turn the temperature down and find it.
35:06We'll do our best.
35:07We can only ask.
35:10With the party winding down, what have the guests made of our pairs?
35:15Sam and Elizabeth were excellent.
35:18It was wonderful.
35:19Had a large range of canopies and also a good range of drinks.
35:24Thank you very much.
35:25The drinks from Sab and Tasha were delicious.
35:29Yeah, we're the elderflower.
35:30And I thought it was lovely that that was from this area here, where we are.
35:35Yeah.
35:35Yeah.
35:36Beautiful.
35:36Tasha and Xavier, I must admit, went over and above what we actually expected.
35:42So, the complexity of their canopies, the drinks that they supplied.
35:47I don't drink alcohol.
35:48They had something there for me.
35:49We'll do signatures on the way out if anyone wants them to be at the front.
35:57That's it.
35:59Challenge over.
36:00A bit over now.
36:00Judgment day now.
36:01Well done.
36:02Well done.
36:03Guys, thank you all so much for coming.
36:06I hope you've all had a wonderful time.
36:07Thank you so much for all your feedback.
36:09It's been fantastic.
36:09You've given us such an incredibly tough decision to make.
36:31Two pairs have been battling us out to try and host the best garden party at a chateau in Normandy.
36:37One person said it was the best canopie they'd ever had.
36:40Oh!
36:42They had 300 euros and only 24 hours to prepare for the party.
36:46Woo!
36:48Both pairs stayed within budget.
36:50You do the canopies, I'll go round with drinks.
36:52But despite their best efforts...
36:53Pretty much.
36:54Anyone like a topper?
36:55Only one pair can bag a spot in the grand finale.
37:00With so much on the line, it's time for me and the guest judges to review our final pair's efforts.
37:07Wow!
37:08What an event that was.
37:09It was fantastic, wasn't it?
37:11What did you guys think?
37:12They did a marvellous job.
37:13What did you think to the food?
37:14Food was fantastic.
37:16Both of them provided different things with them and each of them were great.
37:20And do you think they all considered the chateau when they were designing their menus?
37:24Tash and Zav was more of what I'd expect to see at a chateau.
37:27Elizabeth and Sam did really well with what they did, but I don't think it's necessarily
37:31something that we would put out at the chateau.
37:33It was all just shop-bought.
37:35It was rushed together within the last sort of 30 minutes of the guests arriving.
37:39And Tash and Zav created was obviously far better quality and looking-wise.
37:44Elderflower was delicious, wasn't it?
37:46It was.
37:47Absolutely.
37:47We've actually pinched the recipe often, haven't we?
37:50Yeah.
37:50He said if he had time, he'd knock us a little batch up, but it really did go down well.
37:55What do you think about the layout?
37:56Isn't it interesting how they both went for different approaches?
37:59Where there was a group of tables, everyone kind of congregated around that, and that happened
38:03to be Tash and Zav's tables, and they placed them a lot closer together.
38:08Loved what Sam and Elizabeth did with the information on the tables and getting people
38:12to actually move around the garden.
38:14But when there's an event, people are always going to congregate together, and that's exactly
38:18what happened.
38:18And what about hospitality skills?
38:20How they were serving and engaging with the guests?
38:23When it comes to hospitality and the way that they looked after the guests, I think both
38:27teams smashed out the pack.
38:28They really did.
38:29There was nothing between them.
38:30They were both really attentive, really thought about the guests, and ran about, checked, made
38:34sure everyone was all right, checked with drinks, had conversations with them.
38:37I think Sam and Elizabeth took that little bit longer to engage with the guests.
38:41So Sam was sort of left alone on the terrace, so he wasn't engaging with any of the people
38:46down here.
38:46He was just sort of stuck up there on his own.
38:49And what about the two arches?
38:51Was there a clear favourite there for you?
38:52Tash using all the artificial foliage was good budget-wise, but it would have just been
38:57nice if she just introduced a little bit more, obviously, real foliage in there, just
39:01to give you that balance with it, because it just looked all a bit too artificial.
39:04I think if it was me, I'd have spent more money on the food and drink, and I'd have probably
39:09gone down the route that Zava and Tasha did.
39:11The arch Elizabeth created, that was quite sort of drab of colour, and without the hydrangeas
39:16from the chateau, then it would have just been an arch of ivy.
39:19But for what she's got here, she could have incorporated a little bit more colour to it.
39:23It would have been perfect.
39:25So the decision we're making today is huge.
39:28Both these pairs have evolved massively over this week, and I'm actually really proud of
39:33them.
39:34The evolution of both these pairs from day one to today is phenomenal how far they've
39:39come.
39:39The first challenge was the entertainment spaces, and actually, Zavia and Tasha, they
39:44finished in the bottom too.
39:45Really?
39:45They tried really hard.
39:47Zavia constructed a bar from scratch, which again was really brave.
39:50They worked terrifically as a couple, but the attention to detail sometimes is lacking.
39:55The attention to detail to the food today was superb, so I'm quite shocked to hear that
39:59their attention to detail hasn't been at that point until now.
40:03So if Tasha and Zavia make it to the grand finale, they need to take the attention to detail
40:07from the scallops and put that into their carpentry.
40:10Absolutely.
40:11And then Sam and Elizabeth, almost the opposite for them.
40:14They won the first challenge.
40:15They were super confident.
40:17Sam has taken on panelling.
40:19It's just become his thing, and he's improved challenge upon challenge.
40:23It's really quite the contrast, you know, where Zavia and Tasha lack in the detail.
40:27Sam and Elizabeth have excelled there.
40:29Little brochures next to the bedroom desk, paintings on the wall, beautiful wallpaper,
40:34the panelling, and actually the bedroom was my favourite.
40:36I absolutely loved what they created in that bedroom.
40:40And Stephanie's favourite was?
40:41Well, interestingly, she preferred Xavier and Tasha's.
40:43They were both beautiful, to be fair.
40:45I think it's so difficult for you because you've got two pairs that are clearly capable
40:48of running the chateau, and now you've got an unbelievably difficult decision to make.
40:52I don't envy you.
40:54No, I don't want to do it.
40:55LAUGHTER
40:55Well done, everybody.
41:21We were really impressed with how you managed to deliver the event.
41:31Sam and Elizabeth, it's been great seeing your skills develop, and each and every room
41:36you've created has shown that you've got incredible attention to detail.
41:40Tasha and Xavier, your determination and enthusiasm is so evident in the way you attack
41:46every challenge.
41:48Both of you have achieved great success and overcome minor setbacks in the competition.
41:54Sam and Elizabeth, we were overjoyed with how you incorporated the entire garden and
41:59the history of the chateau itself.
42:01Thank you so much.
42:02Xavier and Tasha, we were amazed with the canapes and the drinks that you created, and you certainly
42:07charmed the guests.
42:09You all successfully created a chateau-worthy garden party.
42:15There's only one spot available in the grand finale from this week.
42:21And the pair still competing to win their dream is...
42:31Tasha and Xavier.
42:33Oh, well done.
42:34Well done.
42:35Well done.
42:36It just feels like a dream.
42:41We did not think we were going to get past the first week.
42:45I can't believe it.
42:47Can you believe it?
42:47Yeah, it's not because I can't.
42:49I know, I'm going to cry.
42:50Well done.
42:51You've done so well.
42:52It's so sick today.
42:54It couldn't have gone to two better people.
42:56They work really hard today.
42:58They fully deserve it.
43:00You deserve that.
43:01Oh, my God.
43:01Well done.
43:03Well done, Sam.
43:04Both these pairs have been fantastic throughout.
43:08They're lovely people as well as great designers.
43:10They've been humble.
43:12They've been passionate.
43:12And it made it incredibly hard today to make a decision between them.
43:16Tasha and Xavier are always so ambitious with their designs, with their work ethic.
43:20They give it 100%.
43:22Today, they created a garden party on a chateau scale.
43:26They showed exactly what they've got to win the dream.
43:29It's been an absolute pleasure getting to know you and working alongside you, Sam and Elizabeth.
43:32Oh, thank you so much.
43:34We've had an incredible time.
43:35And Tasha and Xavier, I'll see you in the grand finale.
43:40Well done.
43:42They were just the strongest competition.
43:45I feel obliged to go and try and win it now so they can come and visit.
43:49Yeah, we're going to try and do it for them, and we're going to invite all our fellow heat contestants.
43:56It's the end of this dream, which is very sad, but it's not the end for us all together.
44:02We will be in France at some point.
44:04That's our real wish, isn't it?
44:06I think it's just the beginning, really.
44:07Yeah.
44:08Come on.
44:09Thank you so much.
44:13You did, Chris.
44:14You did really tough.
44:16I can't believe it.
44:20How have we done that?
44:22Oh, my God.
44:24Next time...
44:25Oh, my God.
44:26The chateau has some new arrivals.
44:28That is real now.
44:30...tasked with renovating the chateau's attic spaces into cosy snugs.
44:34It's not what I was expecting.
44:35It looks quite medieval.
44:37The pairs have been put into teams...
44:39What's the plan for yours, then?
44:40We can't tell you that.
44:41The pressure is on...
44:42They look like they're from, like, the Emerald City.
44:44...with stakes...
44:45We've got to work fast today, and we've got to work smart.
44:47...and emotions...
44:48There's a lot to play for, and if we lose...
44:51Are you OK, Danielle?
44:52...higher than ever before...
44:53The clock is ticking!
44:54...who will wow...
44:56Couldn't be any more polar opposites.
44:58...and which pair will be sent packing.
45:01Someone has to leave us today, and that pair is...
45:09We'll be right back with you.
