00:00At these high rates of speeds, it could go completely sideways.
00:19Get out of the door!
00:26Get him, Tommy! Get him, Tommy!
00:30Stop, bro! Shoot him!
00:32He's got a long gun to hear rifles.
00:34That's fire!
00:35That's fire!
00:36This is by far the most dangerous human in our city, and they need to be caught.
00:40This man is hurt for one for you.
00:42You're not fired. I have a 5-8-10-1.
00:45Get out of traffic! Come outside!
01:00I was just working traffic.
01:05Whenever I got a call from one of our undercover officers, he needed assistance with an individual who was coming to sell fentanyl.
01:12He had set up the buy location at Dollar General.
01:17Sergeant Lewis pulls up in his unmarked cruiser.
01:22His target is Kayla Cervantes, a suspected drug dealer who is already on the run for multiple felony warrants.
01:30I wasn't there more than just a couple minutes. A car pulled into that same parking lot.
01:37Before officers can move in, Cervantes takes off.
01:41I tried to stop her right away.
02:05But it was clear she was not going to stop.
02:30Cervantes swerves into oncoming traffic,
02:33and narrowly misses another pickup.
02:37She just went through the red light.
02:39The car didn't see her coming, didn't see me coming,
02:42and it was really close to being a crash right there.
02:45There is a lot of adrenaline that's going, trying to control that.
02:49Things are happening so fast.
02:58I was just trying to keep up with her without causing an accident.
03:02Let's go right now.
03:04We have my bags in Conocoque.
03:07Let me drive you on somebody.
03:09Good in Conocoque, Can pushing up with him,
03:11and drive you on someone,
03:12when you're not going to buy me with my nope Duke차ngot.
03:14Sergeant Lewis knows the only way he can stop the fleeing truck is by carrying out a TVI,
03:39or tactical vehicle intervention. You will pull up to one side or the other, hit on the side of the
03:45rear of the vehicle, and it just causes it to lose traction and spin out. The vehicle I was driving,
03:56because it's an unmarked car, did not have a crash bar on the front of it, so I couldn't perform the
04:00TVI without seriously damaging my car. I was essentially following the same path that Sergeant
04:14Lewis was. Sergeant Darwin is nearby in a marked unit that has a push bar. Sergeant Lewis, he is what I
04:25consider to be probably the best driver in the police department. He's trained me on how to
04:30conduct the TVI. Sergeant Darwin is trying to catch up to the pursuit. Until then, Sergeant Lewis is on his
04:40stone.
04:41Okay, back to the door and walker and put down, it is a light log green.
04:45It is one of eight one over there.
04:47Where's that?
04:48I'm not right, I know.
04:51It's on the southbound walker.
04:54Thank you. Southbound walker.
04:57We need to come back, border down walker. Northань.
05:04Okay, no, it's not walker.
05:07There's a lot of dangers in a parking lot.
05:22The chances of having a crash or running over someone goes way up.
05:26It's a relief that we made it through the parking lot without hitting anyone or anything.
05:30Sergeant Darwin catches up and takes the lead in the pursuit.
05:56My job was to put an end to the pursuit.
06:04As soon as he got behind her, she was going fairly straight.
06:08His vehicle was in a perfect position to do the TVI.
06:13The suspect rapidly accelerates to 80 miles an hour.
06:18The pressure I felt in the moment was immense.
06:21Up to this point in my career, I hadn't been involved in many high-speed pursuits.
06:27This would be the first time performing a TVI.
06:30There's a massive adrenaline dump.
06:32You're a little nervous.
06:33You're scared.
06:34You're not sure what's going to happen.
06:40I used my push bar to make contact with her bumper.
06:53The moment I did that, she started to do defensive maneuvers against my attempts, leaving me unable
06:58to conduct the TVI without putting the public in danger.
07:05It felt like I was on an F1 track.
07:08Even the slightest little nudge on the steering wheel felt like I was crossing three lanes
07:12of traffic.
07:14Performing the TVI at these high rates of speeds is kind of anyone's guess.
07:20It could turn out as well as you want it to be, and it could also go completely sideways.
07:43She had done this in the past, she'd eluded officers in the past, and until she was stopped
07:47and caught, she wasn't going to stop selling the drug.
08:00She increased her speed, was driving a little more reckless, swerving in and out of vehicles.
08:06With these innocent people just going about their business, I did not feel safe doing
08:11another TVI.
08:13Speeds reached in excess of 90 plus miles an hour.
08:29In those moments when things are tense, the adrenaline is flowing, you have to focus on
08:34your breathing, it's what we like to call combat breathing, which are long, deep inhales
08:38and long, deep exhales.
08:41And by doing that, you're allowing your heart rate to slow down.
08:43The light traffic, we're getting ready, we're about to be on our list, let's go.
08:51And then it was just like the Red Sea had parted.
08:57All of a sudden there was no more traffic around.
09:00It was almost like God had come down and said, okay, now's the time, end it.
09:07It was almost like God had come down and said, okay, now's the time, end it.
09:14I need it.
09:29Night, TBI, TBI, crash, start medical, 240 n ext.
09:32Vehicle.
09:33Hands up! Hands up! Put your hands up! Put your hands up!
09:51Ow! Ow! Ow! My hands are off!
09:56What the f***?
09:59Help! Help!
10:01When Kayla's truck landed on all fours, I felt a huge sigh of relief, but at the same time, I knew that my job wasn't done.
10:11Can you stand up? Can you stand up?
10:15Kayla's at 34. I'm going to have a camera. I'm going to have a camera from 240.
10:20Seeing the significance, the severity of what had just happened, in our minds, there was no way that she wasn't seriously hurt.
10:26We've got to get you. We're going to have a seat. We're going to have a seat. We're going to have a seat. I know. We're going to have a seat in the back of the farm to a medical organization. No one sees you. Okay?
10:35Even though she ran from us, even though she fled, she put all these people in danger, she's still a human being.
10:44Just have a seat. I know she's going to check you out. I know. Everybody's going to check you out.
10:47Other than a headache, she pretty much had no injuries. It was shocking that no one really was seriously injured, including herself.
11:06The officers found fentanyl on her person that she was going to sell to the undercover officer.
11:11Cervantes is also found to be in possession of both heroin and methamphetamines.
11:28I mean, the goal is to disable the vehicle, and it absolutely disabled the vehicle. It ripped a wheel off the vehicle.
11:35This was by far the most exciting and most intense police action I had ever been involved in.
11:43Perfect. Right? Perfect.
11:45It was hard, man. That was a... She was all over the place.
11:49She was all over the place, dude.
11:49Having Sergeant Lewis there, the man that I look up to, tell me, good job, give me an attaboy, was an awesome feeling.
11:57Coming.
11:58My mouth is so dry, I'm... I need some water.
12:01I thought it was great. I told him it was great. I was very proud of him.
12:09Kayla Cervantes is charged with multiple offenses, including endangering others while eluding the police and possession of illegal drugs with intent to sell.
12:20She is sentenced to 15 years in prison, plus 10 years of probation.
12:24A moment like that, with a successful TVI, where everyone gets to walk away relatively unscathed, is something I'll never forget.
12:34On top of that, being able to take a dangerous drug dealer off the street was just another plus.
12:39On the south side of Kalamazoo City is La Tienda Guatemalteca Convenience Store.
12:57On the south side, with a specialاذ for a special case.
13:259-1-1, what's the case of your emergency?
13:35I'm dead.
13:36South Wall Street, South Wall Street.
13:38Get to Guatemala.
13:39Somebody shot you here.
13:41Okay, do you know if anyone's injured?
13:43Yes.
13:44Someone was shot?
13:45Yes.
13:46Okay.
13:48Officer Thomas is less than two miles away.
13:52The first information I had heard come across the radio
13:54is that there had been an armed robbery
13:56that was in progress at a grocery store off of Burdick Street
13:59and that there was a high possibility
14:01that there were persons inside who had been shot.
14:04His identity is concealed
14:06because of an ongoing undercover investigation.
14:09All right, we got to go to work.
14:12Okay, I'll help on the way for you, okay?
14:14I'll save you, see, I'm a phone.
14:20So you're not hurt, correct?
14:22No.
14:23As the store owner is pinned down,
14:26fearing for his life,
14:28the customer makes a daring escape.
14:33911, what is the location of your head?
14:46A hooded dude just went in the f***ing store
14:49and shot a f***ing shotgun off
14:51and jumped in the truck and left.
14:53What kind of truck was that?
14:54It was a small SUV series
14:56and it had brought back windows with tape on it, silver.
14:59I'm getting a second call reference to shooting possible suspect
15:04vehicle, silver, smaller, trailblazer.
15:1271 city.
15:15Go ahead.
15:17Silver trailblazer just passed me going southbound.
15:19It gets up to Kilgore now.
15:21I'm trying to catch up to it.
15:22As I'm cresting the hill right by the cemetery,
15:26a silver Chevy SUV comes past me
15:28at a high rate of speed.
15:30Two and two click.
15:31This is probably the suspect.
15:33This is pretty lucky.
15:34He just passed me.
15:35Okay, let's go.
15:37Clear.
15:37Driver should be held.
15:38Blue clothing.
15:41Or maybe dark clothing.
15:43Hoodies.
15:43And a shotgun with a further caller.
15:49Adrenaline's flowing.
15:51If he's willing to shoot other people in the store,
15:53obviously he's willing to shoot at a police officer and a cruiser.
15:57These are all things that kind of weigh on your mind.
16:00Dispatch puts out a call for backup.
16:03Officer Bradley Spieldenner is close by.
16:06As soon as that dispatch comes out,
16:10I start going to that area
16:12in hopes to find the suspect fleeing the city.
16:16The nature of this call is much more severe
16:18than probably 90% of what we ever deal with.
16:21This is by far the most dangerous human in our city
16:24and they need to be caught.
16:3150-13.
16:32Officer Thomas spots the vehicle abandoned
16:40and the suspect fleeing on foot
16:42into an apartment complex.
16:47Someone said he's running through Candlewick.
16:50He's armed with a shotgun.
16:51He's got a long gun here.
16:52Rifle.
16:52Shots fired!
16:53Shots fired!
16:53Shots fired!
17:01He's got a long gun here.
17:03Rifle.
17:04Shots fired!
17:04Shots fired!
17:08Shots fired.
17:09Shots fired.
17:09Shots fired.
17:09Shots fired.
17:13After the first round impacted the window and it exploded, obviously that was pretty shocking to the system because glass is flying everywhere inside the car.
17:36A matter of a split second, everything inside my cruiser is just going into chaos.
17:40I know that I'm still a present target for the suspect.
17:45I have to get myself and my vehicle behind cover, retrieve my patrol rifle so that I can level the playing field with the suspect.
17:5414, I took one round, he's going westbound the candle, stop police!
18:10Stop police!
18:13Stop police!
18:15Shot fired! Shot fired! He's up to the end of the candle wick, he's up. Kill guard.
18:25The problem was he's 150 to 180 yards away from me.
18:29We're in a heavily populated apartment complex. There's people out and about in the parking lot.
18:33If I were to attempt to fire upon the suspect and if I were to miss, somebody could get hurt or injured.
18:40I'm 14, but I'm stuck behind a building. I got long gone out. He's shot probably five or six times at me.
18:46My cruiser took one round in the window.
18:48I can hear sirens coming in every single direction. It's a great sound to hear sirens coming towards you very fast.
18:57That way! That way! He's got a rifle! He's got a rifle!
19:01So everyone said we got residents coming out of the parking lot, unknown where the suspect is located.
19:09Maybe inside Candlewick. White male, black jacket, black pants, armed with a rifle.
19:14He unloaded on my cruiser, man!
19:17Once we have two or three people, we're able to move forward.
19:21We have hundreds of people that are out and about.
19:24There's children, there's families that live in this complex.
19:26He's already shot at multiple people inside the store. He's shot at me.
19:30We have to go and look for the suspect as fast as humanly possible.
19:35Going to attack one!
19:44I was assigned essentially to a team of officers that we were going to start providing cover, concealment and searching throughout this complex of where this person was last seen.
19:53911, what is the location of your emergency?
19:57Hi, um, we have a gentleman firing a gun in the Candlewick parking lot.
20:02Yes.
20:03Okay, are you in a safe place?
20:05Uh, yeah, we're up on the third floor. He was out in the, um, in the parking lot.
20:10Is he still out there?
20:12He just ran around to the front of the building.
20:14We have received some telephone notification that the suspect had maybe gone by one of these buildings.
20:21Is he concealed inside an apartment? Does he know somebody in the complex?
20:24L5 radio, he had the information that he was interior of 131.
20:32Police floor 131 is right there.
20:34That's 113. I don't know what this one is. 109.
20:39He's shooting.
20:40Anybody with a rifle?
20:41I locked that down the ground.
20:42You went that way?
20:43Yeah.
20:44Units update.
20:47Light skinned, male, black.
20:49You have a rifle.
20:51Cut off either red and white stripe on the side for one of the colors.
20:55Get back inside!
20:56Get back inside now!
20:57Get back inside!
20:58All right.
20:59I'm just gonna get a look right up.
21:14I found this mechanic's blue coveralls.
21:26When I went through the pockets of the coveralls, I found a garage door opener.
21:31We now have a tangible piece of evidence that we can link to a suspect.
21:35Here's what we need.
21:37With no further sightings of the suspect, officers take a moment to regroup.
21:41You just got shot at, right?
21:43Yeah.
21:44Okay.
21:45I'm solid.
21:46Did you get hit or anything?
21:47No.
21:48He peppered my car with Swiss cheese.
21:49I'm good.
21:50Does he have a shotgun or a rifle?
21:51It's a rifle.
21:52It's an AR.
21:53Okay.
21:54All right.
21:56So let's have...
21:57And he's a decent shot, too.
21:58He was on the run.
21:59He put rounds through my window.
22:01A couple people asked me, like, hey, are you okay?
22:03What's going on?
22:04You just got shot at.
22:05Well, no.
22:06I mean, a bullet actually went pretty close to where my head was located at in the cruiser.
22:10I just chalked up, like, hey, it just wasn't my day to go.
22:15You guys need to get inside your house now.
22:16Have you seen anybody?
22:19Okay.
22:20Get inside your house now.
22:22The officers set up a perimeter and search for hours.
22:25But there's no sign of the suspect in the apartment complex.
22:44A few of us officers were searching through these bushes.
22:46And, lo and behold, here is the rifle that was used in the incident.
22:52So at this point, we know that he has escaped.
22:54We weren't able to catch him.
22:56But now that we have this rifle, that gives us a lot of leads that we can follow.
23:02Three days after the initial search is called off, detectives trace the gun to a local resident.
23:08The gun that was used is a very dangerous weapon.
23:11It was an assault rifle in AR-15.
23:16It can kill people, but it also can go through an officer's vest.
23:19How are ya?
23:27Howdy.
23:28John!
23:29John.
23:30John.
23:31How you doing, man?
23:32Hangin' in there.
23:34We don't know for sure if they're involved in the shooting or not, but that's what we're gonna go find out.
23:39Do you have any guns?
23:40Uh, yeah.
23:42Okay. A bunch of them?
23:43I got, uh, four or five?
23:45Okay. Do you know where they're at?
23:47where they're at uh yeah i've also met my cousins he never said anything about he hasn't said
23:52anything about any guns coming up missing or his house being broken into the guns showed up um in
24:00an instance we're investigating and someone obviously got himself also he did say within
24:05the last couple days that there was an issue he wouldn't specify what's going on i really don't
24:10know what's going on he was being evasive he was trying to shield the person who he gave the gun to
24:17he's he's worrying about himself getting in trouble for giving the gun to someone he said you know
24:24something happened and he didn't still he didn't specify didn't tell me the whole story or anything
24:28what did he tell you he said you know his neighbor one got a hold of it and some
24:32shit went down and he threw it in the woods that's all he said after dancing around the truth finally
24:38this person tells us who he gave the gun to you already knew it that his neighbor had the guns
24:43so what are you lying for that and that makes me wonder are you more involved right i understand
24:49that i understand that i get that people lie to us i mean it's part of the business we get lied to all
24:53the time but you know when it comes down to three people almost getting murdered by a guy with your
24:57gun and you know who's who used it and you're not telling us it's like okay why the hell is he not
25:06telling us what's why would he protect this guy who you claim to not even know i've seen it i don't i've met
25:12him one time i ate his wine works on cars that's it there's gonna be absolutely nothing else okay
25:17yeah i hope not man i i sure hate to come back out here that's it okay okay all right thank you all
25:25right sorry guys
25:31we have an address we have a description of the house and we have to see if the name juan comes
25:45back to it and sure enough juan alvarado lopez does live at this address pink house pretty obvious a swat
25:54team is closing in to arrest the suspect you see that black carola that's about where you're at
26:01somewhere close i'll have to be out 100 miles an hour make sure we get a good setup here
26:06the decision was made that we're gonna contain the house with a perimeter you're dealing with
26:10someone that's already showing a propensity for violence and showing that they're willing to use that
26:15violence
26:45I'll cover long here in the door, let's go to the doggies.
27:00Down to the police.
27:03All right, this one's clear.
27:04If he's there, he knows you're there, so now it just turns into methodically and slowly
27:09moving through this house and trying to clear as much of it as you can before you even enter
27:14them.
27:15Final warning, you are under arrest.
27:18Call or not release the dog, you're going to get bit.
27:23Police search warrant.
27:24Police search warrant.
27:25I ended up getting to the suspect's house as the SWAT team is there.
27:29They go in and they tell us, hey, he's not in here.
27:35Yeah, the family was at the house when the officers showed up and they all came out willingly and
27:39talked to other detectives and they were cooperative.
27:41They explained, yes, one has stayed here in the past.
27:44We'll show up on occasion.
27:45We'll use the garage.
27:47Detectives test the garage door opener found in the suspect's coveralls at the scene.
27:52They confirm it works for the family's garage, but there's no indication of Alvarado Lopez's
27:58current location.
27:59Has he been in communication with you at all?
28:00No.
28:01When was the last time you talked to him?
28:02Like three, maybe four weeks ago.
28:03Okay.
28:04I did notice some...
28:05Come here, Lola.
28:06Yeah, just some changes.
28:07You know, I think she's right the same.
28:08Okay.
28:09But it was also shared with us by the ex-partner that they were no longer together in a relationship,
28:19that they were having issues with him and he wasn't acting as himself lately.
28:24While we're talking to the family, we do learn that he's called from a new number.
28:29Police trace the call.
28:31As they head to the new address, an undercover officer drives past the house to see if Alvarado
28:37Lopez is there.
28:38I just drove by.
28:39He was squatted down next to the driver's side front wheel.
28:44The driver's side door of that gray van is also open.
28:48Right there, right there, right there.
28:53Don't move, Juan.
28:55You move, I'm going to shoot you.
28:57You understand?
28:58I got lethal.
28:59I drove up.
29:01I saw the suspect, Juan Lopez.
29:04He was just there in the yard.
29:07I was not expecting that.
29:09It looked like he was working on a vehicle.
29:12There's a heightened awareness.
29:15He's already shot at an officer.
29:17We're out with him.
29:22I'm not going to shoot, buddy.
29:24I'm not going to shoot, sir.
29:27Any weapons on you, Juan?
29:29No.
29:30Can I search you and make sure you're telling the truth?
29:31Yes, sir.
29:32Here.
29:33Clear this Juan.
29:35We used Officer Thomas' handcuffs.
29:38There's a bit of poetic justice in using the handcuffs from the officer that was shot at.
29:44One of the guys went and found his handcuffs in his locker and brought him with us to the arrest.
29:49So to put Officer Thomas' handcuffs on him, it's almost kind of circular.
29:54He's just coming and doing a job here.
29:56Thanks, Richard.
29:57You're welcome.
29:58Juan Alvarado Lopez pleads guilty to 14 counts, including assault with intent to rob while armed,
30:07assault with intent to murder, assaulting an officer, and resisting and obstruction.
30:15He's sentenced to 19 to 40 years behind bars.
30:21The owner of the gun and his cousin were not investigated any further.
30:26When I had a chance to review my body cam...
30:33Someone said he's running through Candlewick.
30:36He's armed with a shotgun.
30:37He's got a long gun.
30:38He's got rifles.
30:39Shots fired!
30:40Shots fired!
30:41You realize that one of the bullets had hit the metal cage between the prisoner compartment
30:46and the front part of the car, and it bounced around on the cruiser
30:49and had ricocheted off the steering wheel.
30:52I got seriously lucky that I actually didn't get shot.
30:55I didn't get wounded grievously.
30:57Somebody was looking out for me that day.
31:11St. Anne encourages their officers, especially patrol officers, to be proactive and conduct
31:18their own narcotics investigations.
31:23So I got this tip.
31:24It was anonymous.
31:25This person was dealing narcotics.
31:27They can get it delivered, and it was coming from this phone number.
31:31They didn't have a name, but the street name was easy.
31:34Officer Chronister comes to me.
31:36I was his immediate supervisor.
31:38He says, hey, I have this individual.
31:41We made contact with him.
31:42He's willing to meet us with drugs, thinking we're a user, and we want to set him up and
31:47get him into custody.
31:52With the sting in motion, the team moves into position.
31:59We waited for that text confirmation to say, hey, I'm here.
32:02Come outside.
32:04At that point, we'd have a marked unit drive down the road, and then park the car behind
32:10him, turn on the lights and sirens, and conduct a suspicious vehicle stop.
32:13We're in front of Isabella on a black-and-color Honda Tucson.
32:28How are we doing?
32:29How are we doing?
32:30I'm here to the San Antonio Police Department.
32:31How are you doing?
32:32What are we doing?
32:33Just hanging out?
32:34Just hanging out?
32:35Yeah.
32:36I was just trying to get my GPS right.
32:37I got you.
32:38What are you trying to get to?
32:39Okay.
32:40So what brings you into San Antonio?
32:41I got you.
32:42I was just at a girl apartment.
32:52I got you.
32:54You have any weapons in the vehicle on your person?
32:58I do.
32:59I got you.
33:00What are you trying to get to?
33:01OK.
33:02OK.
33:02So what brings you into St. Ann?
33:04Well, I was just at a girl apartment.
33:06I got you.
33:07Do you have any weapons in the vehicle on your person?
33:09I do.
33:09Where at?
33:10Keep your hands on the steering wheel.
33:11My bag.
33:12OK.
33:13Where's your bag at?
33:14Right here.
33:14OK.
33:15Leave your hands on the steering wheel.
33:17Put your hands on the steering wheel.
33:19Any other weapons in the vehicle?
33:20No, sir.
33:21OK.
33:22Other than this one.
33:23Keep your hands on the steering wheel.
33:24Don't move.
33:25I imagine he is probably panicking at this point.
33:28He's here to deliver drugs.
33:30And the first person he sees is a police officer
33:32approaching him.
33:40How much other dope you got in the car?
33:44Keep your hands on the steering wheel.
33:45OK.
33:47You got dope on your lap.
33:50Keep your hands on your steering wheel.
33:52Don't move your hands.
33:54OK.
33:54Put your hands on the steering wheel.
33:57He saw a bag of white powder in the lab,
33:59which he suspected was narcotics.
34:02So it's looking like this is our guy.
34:04Step out.
34:06Leave everything on your lap.
34:07Leave everything on your lap.
34:08Put your hands up.
34:10Hands up.
34:11Hands up.
34:12Step out.
34:12Step out.
34:13He's running.
34:16When EZ took off, put his car in a drive
34:18and put the pedal to the metal,
34:22this is now a pursuit.
34:38I see Sergeant Olston with eyes on this vehicle
34:41setting up for spikes.
34:42And whenever the vehicle got close enough,
34:46he timed it just perfect and got a successful spike
34:48on the vehicle.
34:55He's driving very panicked.
34:57We don't know if he's also under the influence of narcotics
35:00himself.
35:00When I see EZ drive into the yard,
35:07I can tell he's not used to driving on deflated tires.
35:11If you turn right, you're going to be going right aggressively.
35:14Turn left, you're going to be going left aggressively.
35:16The start chase helps us track criminals that take off from us
35:32without putting the public at risk.
35:34I was able to get behind him and press the shoot button,
35:38and then it stuck on him.
35:39It is basically a sticky dart that shoots out
35:42of the front bumper of our vehicles.
35:45The transmitter on that will go straight to our dispatch
35:47and let us know the exact GPS of where
35:49that vehicle is traveling.
35:5131, the advice is armed.
35:58It's a very busy road that we're driving on.
36:00It's right next to the airport.
36:02There's tons of gas stations, tons of shops,
36:04tons of stoplights, and he made no regard to stop
36:06at any of the red lights that were there.
36:15Every time he's going over one of those junctions,
36:16it's terrifying.
36:17I'm afraid for other people.
36:19He's going as fast as that little car to let him go with flat tires.
36:23He obviously doesn't want to go to jail,
36:25and he's willing to do drastic things to get away from us.
36:45He's driving head-on in traffic right now.
36:59Sorry, Chase.
37:00Stopping, stopping.
37:02Get out of the car!
37:07Get him, Tommy.
37:07Get him, Tommy.
37:09Stop, or I'll shoot!
37:21In the rear of these apartments.
37:23Still running.
37:39I definitely enjoy foot pursuits.
37:58I'm in it to win it to this point.
38:00There's no chance that I'm letting this guy go,
38:02especially when I got after him on the vehicle this whole time.
38:05There's no chance in hell I'm going to let him outrun me.
38:08If you lose sight of them,
38:10and then all of a sudden you round a turn
38:12and they're standing there with a gun in your face,
38:14we've had officers killed like that in this city.
38:18I got you, bitch! Let's go!
38:31I got him, guys.
38:33Here you go.
38:34Yeah, I appreciate that, man.
38:3610-4.
38:37More cardio, okay?
38:38Yeah, where's that gun at, man?
38:40Oh, I got him.
38:41I got him.
38:42I mean, I don't got him.
38:47Hey, Leeson Herbert.
38:48Tommy, where you at?
38:49He's cuffed.
38:50He's in custody.
38:51I'm giving you a location.
38:52Stand by.
38:53I got a surgeon.
38:5510-4.
38:56Leeson Herbert.
38:57Good shit, boss.
38:58What sports do you play?
38:59Good shit, man.
39:00You gonna take off me again?
39:01No.
39:02Okay.
39:03There's really not much that separates us.
39:04I mean, I know it's criminals and police,
39:05and obviously that's the line, but at the same time,
39:06it's just like, hey, they're still human beings.
39:07We're all alone.
39:08Dude, twin, I see a car coming now.
39:10We're in the backyard.
39:11I need somebody to get him over the fence.
39:12That's it, man.
39:13Johnny, where are you at?
39:14What address?
39:15I'm in the backyard.
39:16I'm in the backyard.
39:17I need somebody to get him over the fence.
39:18That's it, man.
39:19Johnny, where are you at?
39:20What address?
39:21I don't know, I'm in the backyard.
39:37Sit down for me, bro.
39:40Sit down.
39:41Are you kidding me?
39:42Stop.
39:43Hey, right here, right here.
39:44Yo, I'm over here.
39:46Let's go.
39:49All right, let's go.
39:50Let's get into the barracks.
39:51All right, you have to be able to jump in and out
39:54of that role just like, hey, I'm a friendly community servant,
39:57but I'm also a punitive officer that's
39:59going to have to get hands on you if I need to.
40:02While the suspect is arrested and questioned,
40:06police hunt for the missing firearm on the chase route.
40:12We have an unknown gun that's out here in this community,
40:15in this apartment complex that has a lot of people in it.
40:17We don't want somebody else picking up this gun.
40:26Let the record show.
40:28Black bag.
40:34Clear.
40:35Make sure this is on.
40:37First corner, Wagner, and Jones.
40:39Oh.
40:41There we go.
40:43This is gone.
40:45Up there, firework.
40:46The firearm that we found was a Glock G17.
40:49That's a semi-automatic handgun.
40:52The weapon is able to end lives.
40:55Anybody could walk right up to that thing and grab it.
40:57It could be a five-year-old kid.
40:58They can walk right up and grab that and just never tell mommy
41:00and daddy.
41:01And that's a significant risk to the public.
41:03It's definitely a sense of relief to be able to find that firearm.
41:09Rafael Bell pleads guilty to resisting arrest and is sentenced to five years probation.
41:17Every single officer in our department is capable of doing things like this.
41:21They do it every day.
41:22It's a very proactive police department.
41:26People know, don't come to St. Anne to commit crimes.
41:30They're going to chase you until the wheels fall off.
41:32Everybody may know, don't come to see you again at a Thanksgiving, but it's a great day.
41:38So do my best.
41:43Everybody knows.
41:48Everybody knows.
41:49Everybody knows.
