Transcript
00:00She's a butcher, it kind of worked out, it was beautiful, they're having this awesome
00:04relationship.
00:05I'm really not spoiling anything because for real fam, Ketchup, this was made in 1993.
00:10I'm not late, you late.
00:12Hi Naturally Curly World, this is Kiana.
00:14I'm Karo.
00:15I'm Jerilyn, and this is the best ever, the best ever, the best ever rom-coms.
00:21So my all-time favorite rom-com is super cute, super cheesy, and highly emotional.
00:31And it is called So I Married an Axe Murderer.
00:35My best ever romantic comedy is Love Actually.
00:39It was released in 2003 and it stars some of my favorite romantic comedy actors like Hugh
00:45Grant, Colin Firth, Emma Thompson.
00:49But what I like most about this movie is the intertwining stories of love.
00:53I have to preface with saying that rom-coms are my least favorite genre, so this is a pretty
00:59bogus topic, but I would say that there are some anomalies.
01:04And surely it is not Love Actually, it is The Princess Bride, which was made in 1987, best
01:10year ever.
01:11I'm a huge fan of true crime.
01:14I'm also a huge fan of super goofy people.
01:18So when you pair those things together, it's like a perfect storm of potential murder and
01:25comedy.
01:27It's great.
01:28I love how many different stories of love they have.
01:31So they have one that's kind of about infidelity.
01:34They have one that's about kid love.
01:36They have one where the wife dies and he's kind of just dipping his toe into the dating
01:40world.
01:41Basically, it's this grandfather telling his grandson.
01:45And he's like this 10-year-old Fred Savage who is not into mushy stuff like kissing and
01:52stuff.
01:53So they cut all of that out.
01:54That's really why I like this movie because they don't do any of that sappy stuff.
01:58Or at least if they do, they make fun of it.
02:00Essentially, he has problems with love.
02:03Surprise, surprise, who doesn't?
02:05And he gets into one relationship after the other.
02:10He keeps finding these really cool ladies only to find that there's something really weird
02:15or wrong or off about them.
02:17There's a bunch of famous people under the Giants in this movie, Wallace Shawn is in this movie
02:23who plays I think the dinosaur in Toy Story which is what you'll recognize his voice from.
02:29One of my favorite parts of Love Actually is Sam, the little kid.
02:35He falls in love with this girl in his class and she's American and he's English and she's
02:39a singer.
02:40And so he tells his dad how he's going to win her over and he's like, well, all I have
02:44to do is perform in the music show with her.
02:48So anyway, he's trying to go about his life.
02:50He likes hanging out with his family, his mom, his dad, his little brother.
02:55And his dad is Liam Neeson and he's like, well, you know, that's a great idea, but you're
03:00not a musician and you've never played any music.
03:03One day he goes to a butcher shop and there is a lady butcher there and she is gorgeous
03:11and super cool and kind of like low key chill.
03:15And he's like, ooh, I like that.
03:18My favorite line, I used to have it as my voicemail was, okay, I have to do this, get
03:23a character.
03:24Hello, my name is Amigo Montoya.
03:27Amigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die.
03:32And at the very end, she's singing, all I want, all I want for Christmas is you.
03:37And so she's pointing at everyone, she's like, all I want for Christmas is you.
03:42And then he says that over and over again and he gets progressively louder.
03:45Hello, my name is Amigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die.
03:50But he's saying this with a sword, they get into this awesome relationship, they fall deeply
03:55in love with each other, but there is something a little strange about his love interest.
04:02And he thinks that she might be an axe murderer, hence the title.
04:08And she like points to him, but then she goes, and you, and you, and starts pointing to everybody
04:13else and it's just so funny and you can see his like heart drop.
04:16And then he goes on to kill his nemesis, who has six fingers, it's totally realistic, you
04:22know.
04:23And then at the end of the show, he wants to tell her that he loves her before she goes
04:26back to America, but she goes, she's going like straight on the plane.
04:30His dad is like, well, let's go follow her, let's, I know a shortcut.
04:33My favorite part of this movie is how genuine Mike Myers' character Charlie is.
04:41I love the way that he treats his girlfriend.
04:44So they go to the airport and mind you, this is a little white boy.
04:48So this is why this is able to work, just had to put that in there.
04:51He breaks through airport security, runs through, like everybody's chasing him, whatever.
04:56The little girl, she's about to get on the plane and he like just misses her.
05:01And I really like her too.
05:03I found her character to be incredibly relaxing, if not at times a little manic.
05:08But as soon as he's like all defeated and really sad, he turns around and she like gets,
05:13he gets a little tap on his shoulder and he turns around and it's Joanna, the little girl.
05:17And she gives him a kiss on the cheek and he's just so happy and his dad's waiting for him
05:22at the end of security.
05:23Basically, that is why The Princess Bride is my favorite best ever romantic comedy for president,
05:322020.
05:33I do think a lot of romantic comedies can kind of like heighten your idea of like,
05:39oh, this is what romantic love should be.
05:41And this is what I'm trying to look for, which isn't always great.
05:44But the little kid's story, I really, really loved.
05:47That's, that's my best ever rom-com because it has murder and it has comedy.
05:54And for me, that's the perfect combo.
05:57In the comments below, tell me what's your favorite rom-com.
06:00Don't forget to like, share and follow.
06:03We make videos every week, so come back for more.
06:05Bye.
