00:00Hey, Natalie Curling World. I'm Evelyn. Welcome to Watch & Go, the show where we
00:04review things that we watched while we do our wash and goes. We do our hair care
00:09routines. In this episode, I am going to review Master of None, Season 2.
00:30Products. I am going to detangle my hair, hmm, because it is rough. With whatever I have
00:43left over of the DivaCurl One Condition Decadence Conditioner, Anasi Naturals Soothing Mint Clarifying
00:50Shampoo, Obia Naturals Babasoo Deep Conditioner, Camille Rose Naturals Coconut Water Leave-In,
00:58with the Styler Shea Moisture Sacha Inchi Oil, Omega-369 Rescue Plus Repair Twist & Lock Gel
01:08with Quinoa and Rose of Jericho Extracts. Girl.
01:12Master of None is a Netflix original show by comedian and actor Aziz Ansari. You might know
01:21him from Parks and Rec. He was Tom Happerford. Was that his name?
01:25It centers a lot around relationships, romantic relationships, the relationship you have with
01:32your friends, the relationship you have with your parents as you get older. I will say that
01:38it is shot beautifully. It really made New York seem like a pleasant place to live. Season
01:45one ended with him going to Italy, and season two begins with him in Italy, in which we find
01:52a new love interest, who is this Italian girl. She is not interesting. She is very beautiful
01:59in Italian. I'm really struggling to encapsulate. Encapsulate? I realized that Master of None is
02:10not a good show. From a plotline perspective. Everything I love about Master of None has nothing
02:19to do with Aziz, his shenanigans. I enjoy his parents, because it's his real parents who play
02:25his parents in the show. They remind me of my parents. But other than that... So for example,
02:32my favorite episode in season two of Master of None was the Thanksgiving episode. And that is where
02:39Denise, played by Lena Waithe... It's like the story of her coming out to her mom. And her mom is
02:46played by Angela Bassett. What?! Dev was still there. You know, it kind of showed their friendship
02:51of how Dev and Denise grew up together. I don't know. I felt more emotionally attached to a not main character
03:01in one episode than I felt for Dev, Aziz's character, in the entire season one and season two.
03:11I used to be one of those people that thought Master of None was the greatest thing ever. Just
03:17rave reviews all across the board. And then, especially with season two and the boringness
03:23of the whole Italian girl, I can't even remember what her name was. And I watched this last night.
03:30And I realized, oh, it's just diverse. That's what I was in love with. I wasn't in love with the plot,
03:38because it's not that compelling or interesting. I was in love with the fact that there were people
03:44of color everywhere. They were the extras. They were in the foreground. They were in the background.
03:49They were in characters that were important. They were in characters that didn't really end up meaning anything.
03:54Oh, so this is this feeling that I'm feeling inside. Inclusion.
03:58Okay, so I'm going to wash my hair. And I'll be back.
04:04I'm going to apply my Obie Naturals Baba Sue deep conditioner. Obie is my cousin, in case you didn't know.
04:13He does meet this black British girl in Italy. And I wanted them to explore that avenue. What about that avenue, Aziz?
04:23She seemed, I mean, I'm biased. But she seemed a lot more interesting than, I'm going to just call her Limoncello.
04:32What's the name of that soda?
04:35Pellegrino.
04:37We're going to call her Pellegrino.
04:39So, I am going to let this deep conditioner sit in my hair. And I'll come back with my final thoughts, which is really, I mean, girl, you'll see.
04:50In review, I give Master of None Season 2, and I mean Master of None in general.
04:56In terms of content, I would give it a firm 3.
05:01In terms of the refreshingness of including non-white people in everyday stories, I would give it a 5.
05:10And I think people are so enamored by the second part, by the diversity, that they forget that it's not really that interesting.
05:22If they asked me to be on Master of None, you know I'd be on that show in a heartbeat.
05:27Again, it would only be because I appreciate feeling like I see myself as a person of color, as a first generation American.
05:35You know what I'm saying? With immigrant parents and ting.
05:38So, there are definitely lols, definitely people that I don't care about.
05:43Sorry, Pellegrino.
05:44That's my review.
05:46Let me know if you feel the same.
05:48We post, watch, and go every Wednesday.
05:51So, subscribe, like, and stay tuned, and we'll see you next week.
05:55Bye.
05:57Bye.
05:58Bye.
