00:00Similar to the hair on your head, the hair that grows out of the other areas of your body is not the same as straight hair.
00:07Usually when you're timeline talking about hair growth and hairstyles, but today we're coming to you to talk about hair removal.
00:12So today three editors in the office are going to see if the bevel shaving system is the answer to our razor bump problems.
00:19They have a shave cream, they have a priming oil, they have a restoring balm,
00:25and everything that I read basically said that you had to use the razor with the system.
00:30I shave my underarms for aesthetic reasons. I know we're supposed to be moving past that and women should just do what they want.
00:37I think I started shaving my arms in middle school actually. Around the same time I started shaving my legs,
00:44I just said, you know what, let's go with it all. So I started shaving everything.
00:49I use bevel to shave my legs because I like silky smooth legs. After a few days and, you know, you get that, you know, just that scruffy feel.
00:57I usually lather up with Shea Moisture African Black Soap in liquid form, and then I'll just use, I think, a random Gillette razor that's about three to four blades.
01:08To be honest, I hate just anything that's sharp or that's around, I will, no.
01:14Before bevel, I used a lot of the Venus shavers, you know, that came with the little, you know, those little soap things that came on the side of them.
01:24I am a drugstore razor type of person. I'm pretty low maintenance. To me, a razor blade is a razor blade, unless I saw it on the ground, and that's different.
01:32So I first heard about the bevel shaving system through the podcast The Read and a few other podcasts that I listen to.
01:38I listen to a lot of podcasts, listen to The Read, listen to Anjali's Yip Lip Service.
01:43Ooh, get bevel, get bevel this, get bevel that.
01:45I've heard about bevel. I saw it at a, it was a launch party in New Orleans during Essence Fest is when I actually got a live tutorial.
01:55And I saw that it was targeted to people with hair like mine, so I thought I would, you know, be more inclined to try it.
02:02You know, originally I thought to get it for my boyfriend or my dad, but I never thought for myself.
02:07And then I heard Anjali talk about it, that, you know, women can use it too. So I was like, okay.
02:11So first I install one of the blades inside of the razor.
02:18Since this is a heavy razor, you definitely don't want to drop it in the shower on your foot.
02:21It does not require a lot of pressure the way that a Gillette razor would.
02:25So I'm literally just dragging it up my armpit like this, like so.
02:30I don't have patience, so I'm just trying to get things done.
02:33Again, with this system, I did, I did have to take my time because the razor isn't what I'm used to.
02:41It was my first time ever using something that had all of this stuff that came with it.
02:46And I, originally I was really confused and intimidated because I didn't think that shaving should require that many steps.
02:52The primer and the shaving cream, I really liked how everything just applied smooth.
02:57My personal goal is baby smooth skin.
03:00It really enhanced kind of my experience with the system.
03:05The first thing I do before I shave is I apply the priming oil onto my legs.
03:09I skip the priming oil primarily because when I shave, I shave in the shower.
03:15After I already washed my body, so there's really no room for me to apply the priming oil.
03:19And I immediately go to lathering with the shave cream.
03:23So this will be wet.
03:24So you load a nickel size amount on here.
03:26Then you lather it.
03:27I've never lathered anything like this before.
03:30And I just literally lathered it like, you know, a man is doing their face.
03:34And I just did that onto my leg, which creates a really nice thick and creamy lather, which obviously I don't create with my body wash.
03:43I'm so used to just having the pump and, you know, just spreading it on.
03:47So this was a little bit more of a hassle, I would say.
03:51I like to shave, I guess in my eyes it's downward because my arm is pointed downward.
03:56That's how I start, usually from my elbow.
03:58Shave in the direction of hair growth.
04:00So I just learned that and I guess it's a really good tip.
04:04They say that it's good to prevent razor bumps.
04:08I think I made that up.
04:09I'm not really sure.
04:10I don't know which way my armpit hair grows.
04:12I think it's safe to assume that it probably grows downward.
04:15I am more comfortable shaving upward versus downward because the times that I have shaved downward, I've cut my arm.
04:21Ten times to go over an entire leg.
04:24So it's just time consuming in my opinion.
04:26After I shaved my legs, then I reapplied the Restoring Balm.
04:32I feel like it makes more sense for a man whenever you put it on their face.
04:35And so my legs got really cool and I was like, what is this feeling on my legs?
04:39My final thoughts is that this razor, it's luxurious.
04:43It's very fancy.
04:44It's something I wouldn't want to put underneath my counter in my bathroom.
04:49I think it's something that's worth putting on display.
04:51I would not personally repurchase this product simply because the only place I really grow body hair is my armpits and my intimate section.
05:00I would probably use bevel for other areas, like I said, my armpits or bikini area.
05:07I do think that it would be a good gift to give to somebody.
05:11I think it's also gender neutral.
05:13I would probably gift it to either a woman who does have to shave her arms or her legs or gift it to my fiance or my brother or my father.
05:23I have tried more expensive razors if they were a gift to me or something, but I never went out of my way to purchase one.
05:30So I rate bevel a 3.5 out of 5 because I just think that there's easier methods on shaving your legs, faster methods on shaving your legs.
05:40I would give this product and this system 4 out of 5 stars, mainly due to the packaging and the branding.
05:47I think that they look very chic and elegant.
05:50For the entire shaving system, I would probably rate it a 4 out of 5.
05:54If I had the razor and the blade, I would definitely rate it a 5 out of 5 because I have not cut myself with this razor.
