00:42definitely noticing though a theme so what we're thinking is we're gonna start doing weekly themes
00:50to make it easier for you and one of them relates to the question for today which is about caring for
00:57your hair after going to the pool going to the beach or going to the lake so that's definitely one of our
01:03questions so I'm gonna definitely answer that today so that we can get it going so are we connected y'all
01:12are we good good good good okay so for those of y'all just joining us it's our Q&A that we do every
01:19Monday at 1230 Central sometimes one o'clock you know tune in just keep on rolling with this so
01:26it's really for y'all so we want to hear from y'all and see what your hair struggles what are your
01:30hairs concerns and see how we can help you right here and right now so our question that we have
01:37today is I'm looking I'm looking for summer styles and what to do at the pool lake or beach I'll be at a
01:45lot of pool parties this summer and can manage getting a leave-in and can manage getting a leave-in to
01:52protect my hair but what do I do after that should I pull it up leave it loose add more conditioners midday
01:58I also don't know the people at the parties very well yet and don't want to come across as weird what
02:04do I do in this situation so it sounds like what I think when she's saying that she's like I need to wash my hair like right afterwards I'm like hey can I come in real quick
02:11so I would definitely say to detangle and condition your hair before and twist it braided or put it in a bun before so that's definitely like your hair prep before you go to the pool or to the beach or do a protective style so I know a lot of the girls in the office like
02:31like Jerilyn right now she has her Havana twist you can do braids box braids whatever you want to do so
02:39that you don't even have to worry about that whole situation you just worry about really just cleaning
02:42your scalp if you have a protective style in but if you're wearing your naturally curling hair you
02:47definitely want to prep your hair by detangling it and conditioning it and putting some leave-in before
02:53you go to the pool and twisting it plaiting it pull it up in a high bun even putting a hat on if you had to
02:59do and then afterwards you want to definitely wash your hair and then decondition afterwards so those
03:08are some key tips that you can try before and after to really make sure that you are maintaining a good
03:15healthy hair regimen during the summer because I already know we're definitely going to be in the pool
03:19and at the beach but you want to make sure make sure you're taking care of your curls so the next question
03:25is I'm still experimenting with hair products and yesterday I used a bit too much gel it looks fine
03:32but now it's frizzier and feels sticky I've definitely been there and done that I will say I think the
03:38first thing is I noticed is um I was using way too much product whether it was a cream or a gel
03:46and um every single day I would keep applying more and it would just keep weighing my hair down
03:51and it would start feeling really sticky so what I've done is instead of applying so like the first
03:58day I wash my hair and then I style it so once I already um style it with those products like gels
04:04and mousses the next day I just refresh with the water bottle versus adding so much product to it every
04:10single day because that that product is still in your hair um so all you really need to do is just
04:14re-wet it and it's refreshed you finger coil it you style it how you want to and then you're good to go
04:19um so that's definitely my tips with that is less is more with the styling products just refresh it
04:24with water and you are good um and yeah she said do I have to wash it or refresh it so you don't you
04:31don't have to wash it unless it's like extremely weighed down you can wash it with like a build up
04:35buster and get all that product out of your hair like the diva curl build up buster um but for the
04:40most part you use refresh with the water bottle let's see
04:48I've been using the curly girl method which has worked for me before but lately my hair has been
04:54very limp very limp I read something about over moisturizing how would I know if that's the problem
05:01so yes over moisturizing is a thing um so it could be a few different things whether your hair
05:10is basically it's it's losing its definition it's not curling up there's no bounce um that means that
05:16it's over moisturized um and there's just too much product and protein in your hair to where it's really
05:21there's no definition um so that's definitely the case where you would want to wash your hair
05:27um with like a clarifying shampoo to to really just detox detoxify your scalp um and cleanse your hair
05:34thoroughly and um there's a really great article on that that I can also attach to this video um where
05:41there's a lot more information um about over moisturizing and those signs to really tell that
05:49um so if y'all have any more questions and you really want to get them answered right now feel free to
05:53comment below and I can answer them for you let's see air dry then diffuse I've seen this both ways
06:04either let your hair dry 70 75 percent and then diffuse or diffuse up 75 percent and then let air dry
06:13what's the difference so personally I don't diffuse I just air dry but that's my personal um experience
06:22because I have medium porosity hair so it only takes my hair about 30 to 45 minutes to dry um
06:30so I don't diffuse Nikki what would you say about that do you diffuse uh when I have time I feel like
06:36diffusing takes forever yeah and that's my thing too but then again it kind of depends on your it
06:41it all goes back to your hair type because some people um what is it like low porosity it takes their hair
06:47like low porosity or high porosity low yeah yeah so low porosity takes forever for your hair to dry
06:55so then you would probably just diffuse it for 30 minutes and you'll be good um but once again I
06:59think that's more of a hair type question um just depending on your type of hair and hair porosity
07:06and if y'all have any more questions you already know you can drop them below
07:10and we will answer them for you but we want to hear from y'all so we want to know um what are your
07:16biggest hair concerns and what do you want us to answer and help you um like like how can we really
07:23help you along your hair journey do you need more product recommendations do you need hairstyles
07:28tips to refresh um are you looking for a stylist in your area like really talk to us in the comments
07:34and let us know that so that we can really help you along your journey because we all know that all
07:38of our dreams are different but we want to make sure that we're also serving you in the best way
07:41possible okay what's the question how often should you steam naturally to your hair and what would you
07:50recommend so steaming is it's it's on the basis of like deep conditioning your hair so
07:59it's more of a basis about a once a month you steam your hair and that's really um
08:04um so yeah i would definitely say steaming your hair once a month i'm going to also look up some
08:12more information on that um of course the what i don't know how you pronounce it but it's like the
08:19the cure do how do you say that yeah the cure do is like the most popular one um
08:26and really what that do really what the cure do does it's a steam therapy so it's like opening up
08:32um your hair follicles just to allow more absorption of the moisture to your hair so it really just
08:38helps you can do that primarily for like deep conditioning purposes so to answer your question
08:43you can do it once a month with like the cure do um where you are really getting that moisture back into
08:48your hair okay can you tell me um what was the girl who answered who asked that uh shantiva keys
09:07hey shantiva keys so if you can tell me your hair type i can definitely drop some recommendations for
09:13you for some good moisturizers um because depending on your hair type like if you're a three or four
09:21um or even low low or high porosity that also helps me give you some good recommendations on uh some good
09:28creams and moisturizers okay we have another question let me let me hear it i run clean my thoughts and jump into
09:38this one yeah that's that's a good one um so hmm so do you do what's her name uh jacqueline hey jacqueline
09:52so we got your question about frizz while you are being active and working out in this sauna um
10:00now do you like wear a hat or like a scarf or anything to prevent
10:05like your hair from getting wet um and also too do you also wear protective styles maybe i know that
10:12also help like temporarily um but i think another suggestion too is maybe incorporating mousses and
10:17gels in your regimen um and then maybe pulling your hair up into a high pony or a pineapple
10:25before you work out um and then just refreshing it um with like a leave-in or even water after you work out
10:32okay so shantiva i have a few really good um moisturized moisturized that i can definitely
10:47recommend for you um i have i put up this list because there's just so many and she's the one that
10:54says she doesn't like shea moisture right okay so shea moisture did pop up um let's see so let's see
11:04the curls so a few of our favorites that there's like a whole article about 15 favorite 15 best
11:11moisturizer and products i can also share that in the link uh but one of them is the allocate naturals
11:17uh moisture rich hair parfait um another one of my favorites that i'm thinking about too is the
11:25myel organics twisting souffle um and i like that one because it's really it's very very moisturizing
11:33and it smells amazing it's really really creamy um honestly i don't use that many moisturizers i use
11:40more gels and mousses and then i apply a finishing oil to my hair um because i noticed that when i was
11:48using moisturizer it actually started weighing my hair down and it wasn't giving me the definition
11:52or volume that i was looking for um i'm trying to see what is another moisturizer i do also like the
12:02the ors smoothie cream that's another good one there's a miss there's a miss jesse's leave-in condition
12:10um and carol's daughter um hair milk is also another one and then the main choice also has a really
12:18great hair hair milk that i like as well so those are some options for you what i can do is i can also
12:24just share this link out where it's listing all the products so that's easier to get to
12:27hey nadia so we got your question about um some haircut advice for extremely long curly hair so um
12:46i would say long layers would be a start uh but then again it's all about your preference are you
12:54wanting to go shorter or do you like your length um and you know are you trying to frame your face
12:59do you want like a more shorter cut like a more to really frame your jawline area um or do you want
13:05to really keep that volume and keep it long so if you're wanting to keep it long you keep the volume
13:09then i would definitely go with more of a long a long layer cut yeah so what's her name uh trisha
13:24okay hey trisha so we got your con we got your um your question about swimming so um we definitely
13:32we know that's a theme right now everybody is in the summertime fun we are so here for it
13:36um and we talked about that earlier is there's a few that i think the best practice for that is
13:43about prepping your hair before and during after so before um it's really important to prep your hair
13:49so you want to prep your hair by detangling it and then adding a leave in and then twisting it
13:56braiding it putting it in the bun or you're wearing a hat or a scarf and then um and then afterwards
14:05you would definitely cleanse it and then deep condition to really get your hair um you know
14:12to really just just to get all of that um moisture back into your hair because we already done it that
14:18chlorine is really drying to our curls um so what i can do is i can also just share some some deep
14:25conditioners in the comments with you so you can take those out uh jacqueline said you know how
14:31first time twist right now but thinking about turning this long to tear loose thinking about
14:38turning this long to tear loose does that mean like she's going to be cutting it i don't think
14:42you're going to be taking it out of twist okay um yeah i've learned that in the summertime y'all
14:49the best bet really is protective styles and braids because um dealing with your hair at the pool and the
14:55beach can get it can be it can be a lot to handle um but it's not it's not like we can't do it it's
15:02just it definitely involves more work so it kind of goes back to you do have to prep it before
15:06and after um so yeah if you want to keep doing your twist or do a bun um that's your best bet or
15:13girl try some braids definitely try that too and see how that works out uh how do you talk my hair
15:20cut is medium short my clothes are flat do you recommend more layers i need some ideas for my
15:25salary so i can get my spring back hey so i would definitely say the layers will help you for sure
15:33the layers were kind of they'll give you that volume and um because i feel like when your hair is all one
15:39length it just doesn't really give you that food that you're looking for um so yeah start with layers
15:44and you know what i just interviewed one of our local hairstylist april um and that is our latest
15:51article so i can even share that with you because she gave some really great tips um about color but
15:57also about um about like layering your hair and things like that too so i can share that with you
