00:06Initially, when you start a business, you're scared of whether or not people are going to
00:24come, then you're afraid of not being able to pay them.
00:30I've definitely had scenarios early on where it was Friday evening and payroll was due on
00:37Monday and I did not know what trick I was going to have to pull out of the hat over the
00:43weekend to make sure that I had enough money to cover payroll on Monday.
00:52Just to make sure that that thing that you think you're going to do is something that
00:57you are truly passionate about.
01:00That passion is what's going to push her through because you will work harder at your own business
01:06than you have ever worked for anyone else in your entire life.
01:15I am a night person who has been forced to become a morning person.
01:21It's such a productive time but the bad part is that you stay up until 4 and then real
01:27life hits at 6 or 7 and you still have to function.

01:45And focus on the job that you need to get done and worry about all those other things
01:50later because they actually are not as important as you think they are.
02:02There was a time at Carol's Daughter when we decided to launch a fine fragrance for Mother's
02:08Day.
02:09It was our first ever fine fragrance.
02:10I really thought that it would be something great and wonderful.
02:14That wasn't successful but we were able to bring pearls back.
02:19We called it sugared violets.
02:20We did it in a very different way, in more of a Carol's Daughter way, not as a fine fragrance
02:26and that was successful.
02:33I think in business it's a lot like life.
02:37You don't always know that it's the right time for something.
02:43Sometimes you do get that luxury but you feel energy pushing you in that direction and you
02:50know that it's wrong to fight it.
02:53You don't necessarily feel comfortable going forward but you know that you will get knocked
02:58out of the boat if you try to go backwards.
