00:00You are a queen.
00:01Oh, thank you.
00:01You are a true queen.
00:03We are so blessed to have you here with us.
00:05Again, Kayla pointed out the Carol's Daughter activation is right over there,
00:09so make sure you hop by.
00:12But you have the best seats in the house right now to listen to Miss Price
00:16talk about her journey a little bit, right?
00:19And how she got to be kind of the beauty maven and queen that she is today.
00:24We know each other actually really well from being in the business together.
00:27Actually, Lisa knew that I was pregnant before even my parents knew.
00:31I had gotten my, like, ultrasound when I had my son four years ago,
00:36and I hadn't told my parents yet.
00:39And I was at an event with her, and I was like, I have to tell someone.
00:42And so I told Lisa.
00:43So we're very, very close.
00:45So we're going to have, like, a cool conversation.
00:47I'm glad you guys are all here to witness it.
00:50But, Lisa.
00:51Yes.
00:52Is this your first?
00:53This is not your first festival.
00:54Oh, no.
00:54This isn't my first.
00:55This is my 14th.
00:5614th festival, guys.
00:58This is amazing.
01:00And so I think a lot of people know the general story that you, you know,
01:05created these products in your kitchen in Brooklyn,
01:08and we're selling them at a marketplace, right?
01:11Yes.
01:11How do you go from that to being an empire, right?
01:16Because I know a lot of us are entrepreneurs out here,
01:18and you are such an inspiration to us.
01:21How did you do this?
01:22How do you even navigate that?
01:23Well, I think the key thing to my journey and other journeys that I've been able to witness and be a part of is having faith in what you're doing,
01:34knowing your purpose, and you always have to trust that he has you.
01:39You know, it's not an easy road.
01:42You don't always know exactly what the next step is, but when you're working in your purpose and you're trusting your passion and your faith,
01:50you know what the next step is going to be.
01:52Was there someone in your life that kind of was like an angel investor or someone was like, saw you in the marketplace and were like,
02:00I just love these products.
02:01You need to be in stores and more people need to know you.
02:05How did you make that leap to becoming such a huge brand?
02:09Well, officially, the first person who ever invested in Carol's daughter was a gentleman named Steve Stout.
02:16Shout out to Steve.
02:17Yes, he's a marketing, advertising, you know, just genius person and a person who I truly believe sees into the future.
02:27He sees what's coming before other people do, which is why he's such a genius at what he does.
02:32So he was the first person to officially, like, really invest in the brand, and then he put our celebrity team of investors together.
02:41So investors were Jay-Z, Will Smith, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Tommy Mottola, Jimmy Iovine.
02:47I mean, just keep dropping names.
02:49Like, what a blessing, right, for those caliber of people to see your potential and to see the amazing products that you were, you know, creating
02:58and wanted to actually write a check and make sure that you thrived.
03:03Yes.
03:03Right?
03:04Yes.
03:04You talked about being a mom, too.
03:06You have two beautiful children.
03:08Three.
03:08No, three.
03:08Sorry.
03:09Two sons and a daughter.
03:10Yes.
03:11And how, you know, a lot of us out here are moms and trying to juggle careers and trying to be badass bosses like you.
03:19How have you kind of navigated that, being a mom, a wife, and also kind of overseeing an empire?
03:27Okay.
03:27So here's the best advice if you're juggling a life like I have juggled.
03:32I learned that there are going to be days when I'm a very good wife and mother, and there are going to be days when I'm a very good founder of a company,
03:43and there's only going to be a few days probably in an entire month where I do both of those really well in the same day, and that's okay.
03:54Because as women, I think we walk around trying to be perfect all the time and get everything on the list done and organize the children.
04:04And then a lot of us are taking care of parents or aunts or uncles.
04:09You know, we have other responsibilities.
04:10We have responsibilities to our churches.
04:13And we're just doing too much.
04:15And you have to let some things go and know that it's going to be okay.
04:20It will all fall into place.
04:21It will all be all right.
04:22Like, the list will still be waiting there for you the next day, but you will have so much less stress when you stop trying to be perfect.
04:30Can we thank Lisa Price for being here?
04:33And I look forward to seeing you at the booth.
04:35I'll be there this afternoon saying hi and taking pictures, and I just – this is one of my favorite times of the year,
04:43so I am so happy to be here with all of you.
04:46Thank you so much.
04:47Thank you, guys.
