00:00Hey guys! Hey guys! So today we're going to be sharing our favorite moments from the Girl with
00:15the Photo with Design Essentials. So we've been traveling around Africa for eight weeks. We
00:20started in London, Amsterdam, then Lisbon, Ghana, South Africa, Johannesburg and Cape Town and then
00:26the last stop was Zimbabwe. Of course as much as we love traveling, exploring and
00:31seeing everything, hair was such a big and important part of the trip. So we'll be
00:36talking about all of that. So let's get right into it. So Design Essentials has
00:40different collections. My favorite one is the Coconut in Monoi and my favorite is
00:44the almond avocado. My favorite products from the entire collection was the
00:48shampoo, the mask and the curl enhancing milk and the oil of course because we
00:54need an oil in our lives, you know. We all need an oil in our lives. So the first stop
00:58was Morocco and it was honestly like a desert. So my tip for shampooing hair
01:03properly is to definitely make sure you put the shampoo on the tips of your
01:07fingers and massage your scalp thoroughly to make sure you really open your pores.
01:11This also promotes growth. I don't know about Lauren but my hair has definitely
01:16grown so much in the last few weeks of traveling. I've definitely found that for
01:21you to achieve the best results with a conditioner you have to detangle with
01:25your fingers. Always start with detangling with your fingers and then
01:27follow with one of your favorite brushes. This conditioner is absolutely
01:31amazing because it's super light so it just goes through the curls really easily
01:35even if you haven't washed your hair for a while and you've been doing the
01:38absolute most. So this one was definitely my favorite for the trip. Now we
01:42moved into London and Rotterdam into city life and that's when my hair kind of
01:46started to get dry on me because it was so confused. I didn't know what to do. So I'll
01:51definitely let Lauren take over because she taught me a few tips and tricks on this
01:55one. So this is a trick I've been doing since I was maybe 15. Sometimes I don't
02:00want to wash my hair with shampoo so I just wet my hair and apply a light
02:04product such as the curl enhancing milk or the spray leave-in from the coconut
02:09amino connection. It's absolutely great if you're like in a rush and you don't have
02:14time to do your hair all over again so that's why you know that's what I've been
02:18doing for a very long time. So when we were in Lisbon we had the best time. We got to
02:22see beaches and we got to just unwind because we were so busy in the cities so
02:27I definitely invested more time into scrunching with a gel just so my curls
02:31had hold. One of my favorites is actually the Honey Curl For Me Custard. I had only used
02:36this once last year and I gave it another go and I loved it because all I used before it
02:42was a leave-in so they worked really well together and it smells amazing so I
02:46definitely loved using this one. For me it was more like I focused more on deep
02:50conditioning and adding like oils and masks so this was my favorite. Left it in
02:55for 15 minutes if I leave it on for too long my hair is gonna feel heavy so if
02:59you had like loose curls 3b 3c I would suggest you leave it in for 15 minutes and
03:04then after styling my hair I finish it off with a light oil so I still have that
03:09moisture after rinsing out the mask. So from Lisbon we took a really smooth flight
03:14to Ghana. The minute we landed the heat just slapped our hair and our face but
03:20the humidity my hair seems to love it. All I needed to use is something light
03:27such as the curl enhancing milk and the oil to seal the moisture and that's it. My
03:32hair absolutely loved Ghanaian weather. So I found that I had to start doing
03:38hairstyles and head wraps and things like that. The experimenting with the curls
03:42came along and I definitely found that it was more fun to try something new so I
03:48really enjoyed it. From Ghana we went to South Africa. For me in South Africa this
03:53is honestly when I was doing head wraps and just carrying on with my
03:57experimenting with styles. I also wanted to live in the moment. I kind of let go of
04:01my hair for that time in South Africa but nevertheless I was still deep
04:06conditioning still moisturizing my hair with design essentials. One thing which I
04:11also did in Cape Town was I actually deep conditioned my hair in the morning, put a
04:15plastic bag because I didn't have a shower cap, don't judge me, and then I wrapped my
04:20hair with an African printed wrap and then when I returned home I rinsed it out.
04:24So from South Africa we flew to Zimbabwe. It was 22 degrees Celsius so I was
04:30thinking like this is probably the same as Holland. No it wasn't because the sun was
04:35out all day so I didn't have to diffuse my hair. I only air dried and I realized
04:39I don't need much product. So I just decided to use the deep moisture milk
04:43which is one of my favorites as well on wet hair and let it air dry and that's
04:47basically it. Less is more. I really learned that from this trip. So we hope
04:51you guys enjoyed the video, enjoyed seeing some of our favorite moments. If you do
