00:00My name is Leslie Lozano and my self-care practice is skin care.
00:04I take the time to moisturize and drink lots of water and get facials, if not monthly, maybe bi-monthly.
00:12I use a lot of Shea Moisture products, so I use their moisturizer and I use their scrub.
00:17I like to make masks. I don't know if they work quite yet, but I like to make masks because the whole process is kind of nice for me.
00:26It just gives me time to do something for myself, so I've used mangoes, I use avocados a lot.
00:32Avocados are so good. I use bananas, I use honey.
00:37I recently met an esthetician, and her name is Stephanie Aesthetics, and she offered to give me a facial about a few months ago.
00:46So I'm new to the game. I feel fabulous. I feel like, yes, this is me time.
00:53And I'm applauding myself. I'm like, yes, Leslie, self-care. You're doing it.
00:58So I feel nice, and I feel refreshed, and I feel a little bit calmer.
01:03I feel self-care is very important for women because we just go, go, go.
01:08And we are queens at multitasking, and we will do until we cannot, and then we'll keep doing.
01:14So I just think it's important that we nurture ourselves, and we treat ourselves as if we were treating our best friend or our mom.
01:21Yeah, we just need to take the time for us and not feel guilty or selfish about it.
01:28You have to just think about what makes you happy, what don't you do often that you would like to do, and then do those things.
01:35Like, you can't make it complicated. You just have to do it.
01:38I've been practicing self-care for a while now. I was annoyingly practicing it in high school.
01:44My senior year, I had a tough year. I was bullied.
01:48And so I really took time to kind of just focus on myself and love myself, even though at the time I felt like I wasn't being loved by other people.
01:57So I would go thrifting and I would go to lunch by myself. I would work out by myself. I did a lot of things by myself, but I was happy.
02:07And it gave me time to just kind of zone in on me and do good for me.
02:13So fast forward to now, I've realized, hey, you don't really take care of your health all that much.
02:21It was easier in college when you had the time to exercise and to eat right.
02:26But now that I'm an adult and I have a real job, I need to put those practices into my everyday life.
02:36And so skin care is kind of something that I lack. And so I wanted to really focus on that.
02:42And meeting my friend, Stephanie, educated me on what I didn't know that I needed to do without having to break my bank.
02:50So that was really nice. I really appreciate her.
02:53I'm done like exfoliating or doing something skin care related.
02:57My friend Lauren actually told me when you are washing off whatever is on your face,
03:03imagine all those negative vibes or negative thoughts that you may have just washed down with that.
03:10And like just let it, you know, flow into the drain, flow into the sink and just kind of let it be done.
03:15And then afterwards, my skin feels soft. It feels magical. And I feel fabulous.
03:20And it's just, it just feels good. I'm in just in that moment.
03:25I'm not really thinking about anything or stressing about tomorrow or yesterday. So it's nice.
