00:00today I'm house hunting in beautiful Almeria province in southern Spain I'm Lee juggernaut
00:09using my passion for interior design I've bought renovated and sold several properties both in the
00:15UK and overseas today I'll be using all my skills to help house hunters Vanessa and Peter find their
00:22new forever home but I don't get off to the best start you wouldn't even get our sofa in here okay
00:29yeah so you bring a lot a lot of stuff yes and my house hunters love a wind-up I don't like it
00:36how many kittens I absolutely love it I absolutely love it yeah it's stunning on the way I visit this
00:45idyllic rural retreat wow this is a fantastic pool bet the summer here it's pretty fun rocky
00:54but do I find Vanessa and Peter their perfect place in the Sun that could be the bar yeah could be yeah
01:03loving it loving it yeah yeah Vanessa and Peter have been dreaming of permanently moving to their
01:13favorite part of Spain for a number of years now and with Peter about to take early retirement
01:17that dream is about to become a reality married couple Vanessa and Peter from the Wirral met online
01:24and tied the knot 15 years ago he really is caring and looks after me and spoils me
01:32mm-hmm but this is very care does a lot for charity keeps me fed and with Peter due to stop working
01:44soon they're ready to pack their bags and head for the Sun I've worked hard yeah I'd like to be well
01:50yeah and I think now is the right time that we can go and we're still young enough to enjoy the
01:58lifestyle over there and the culture and there's room for a little one too you've got aboard the
02:04terrier called Albert and he's definitely coming with us little character yes it's like human having
02:15sold their home in the UK they're focusing their search around Almeria province and have a budget of
02:19170,000 pounds situated on the southern eastern coast of Spain flights from the UK to Almeria Airport take
02:28just under three hours Almeria province has remained unspoilt by tourism compared to other parts of the
02:35Spanish coast and has around 120 miles of beautiful beaches the name Almeria comes from the Arabic for the
02:42mirror as the area was regarded as the mirror of the sea further inland there are lots of traditional lovely
02:48villages surrounded by a rugged mountainous landscape even though the beaches are within striking
02:54distance we will focus our search around inland towns like Albox and Arbaleas which are around an
03:00hour's drive from the airport Almeria province is one of the more affordable areas on the southern
03:05coast of Spain the starting price of a three-bedroom detached villa with a pool about a half an hour inland
03:11is around 150,000 pounds on the Costa del Sol a similar property again a half an hour inland is
03:18around a hundred thousand pounds more so your money it definitely goes a lot further here before
03:24we set off on our search I want to find out exactly what my house hunters are looking for
03:28peace of Vanessa good morning good morning take a look at that I mean what a way to start your day
03:36beautiful isn't it so tell me what brings you to the Almeria province because you've never been
03:43here before right yes correct what appeals to you about this province the location really you're not
03:49far from Alicante you've got Almeria Airport plus the weather that's the weather so this is a permanent
03:55movie that yeah Wow houses sold and we're ready to go oh okay and what do you picture life being like
04:03when you do come out here to Almeria relaxed yeah the weather the lifestyle the culture having a wander
04:09into the village having a coffee and a chat and I do a lot of knitting for charity which I'd like to
04:16continue to do here just a little swim just just yeah what if family think about this anyone joining you
04:22on this journey my daughter and her wife and Samantha and Ray they'll probably be out as often as they can
04:28be so what is the dream like tell me about the property and minimum three bedrooms okay must have
04:36a pool must have a pool right yeah and two bathrooms okay a bit of land I'm some outbuilding
04:44where we can do hobbies yeah I do like me music and making some models and things so are there any
04:50kind of big no-nos that I should be aware of in terms of property we don't want anything that's aim
04:55you've got to do any work okay so something that's kind of ready to move into yes with light
05:02cosmetic work yeah so budget-wise you've got a hundred seventy thousand pounds yeah so I have
05:09any wiggle room at all with that mmm ten thousand ten okay yeah so 180 max for the property will you
05:17be getting a car out here yes you will be driving yes because you're gonna have a car yeah do you want
05:22to be walking distance away from amenities well walking distance to a pub or a restaurant so we
05:27can be part of the community so to get all of that list I know in one property I know it's gonna be
05:34quite tricky I've got faith in ya I've got faith in myself but compromise is my favorite word absolutely
05:41let's not waste any more time we've got five properties to see ready for this oh yeah very much
05:47so yes to kick off our house hunt we're heading to the historic town of work out of there close to
05:55the border with Murcia it was inhabited by the moors in the eighth century and became an important
06:00trading post due to its strategic location and I'm hoping it's going to be the perfect spot for my house
06:05hunters to we're stopping off in town before we head to the property now gang I brought you to the
06:13lovely town of work out of era as you can see there's lots of life on Monday mornings as well
06:19as Thursday mornings you get a lovely big market lovely absolutely beautiful yeah when you have been
06:26to Spain have you kind of ventured out in local markets oh yeah oh yes we have yeah we do like the
06:31markets we like the fruit and veg don't we from the markets as well it's the fresh food the fresh
06:36vegetables also you can sample the local cuisine in a food festival that happens every year very good
06:42yes well the first property I'm about to show you okay okay she says is a 10 to 15 minute drive away
06:52from all of this okay lovely should we get going yes my first option is in the small village of
07:01Urkal just outside town where there are plenty of detached villas with gardens and swimming pools
07:05there's a restaurant and two bars within walking distance of the property so I'm hoping my house
07:10hunters are gonna love it now property number one first impressions big smile on you Vanessa
07:20yeah we like it it's nice I'm just a bit worried about the neighbors that's what my first impression
07:27was there is a lot of other houses very close by okay yeah the property we are looking at is a three
07:35bedroom two bathroom bungalow there is some outside space to the side yeah a carport as you can see
07:43as well as a nice size pool to the back yeah is this what you had in mind it's a little bit small on the
07:49land side but the house and we've got to go in and see yeah and then I'll know property is on the
07:55market for just over a hundred and fifty nine thousand pounds well within budget shall we go
08:02and take a look inside yes as well as that carport this bungalow has a spacious private covered pool
08:10area at the back with a garden and a veranda with mosquito netting and an outbuilding inside is a
08:18living room with a log burner leading into a dining area and a semi open plan kitchen there's also a
08:24double bedroom with an ensuite shower room a second double bedroom a twin bedroom and a family shower room
08:30come on in look at this a bit smaller than the thought it was going to be sorry it's a bit smaller
08:41I haven't even asked you your first impression first impression is small each small okay lovely living
08:50area here lovely wood burner there dining area here open plan kitchen that's a bit small as well yeah I
08:58I prefer myself an enclosed kitchen to be here it's a space wise it sounds like you're looking for
09:04something quite big massive massive a bit bigger than this one yeah you wouldn't even get our sofa
09:11in here okay yeah and then we've got the bookcases so you're bringing a lot a lot of stuff yes wow
09:18did you ever think it might not fit in some properties here okay why don't we go and check
09:27out the main bedroom which is around there yeah yeah come with me yeah okay your lovely Spanish boudoir
09:36lots of room to play around with it is quite spacious isn't it got a wardrobe here an extra storage
09:44bit there and you've got the ensuite bathroom just behind you it's a great size room it is
09:48it is pity about the rest of the living area yeah it's a shame about the living area well why don't
09:55we go and check out the lovely outside space okay yeah yeah I mean take a look at this beautiful outdoor
10:10pool over there very good also around that corner over there there is an outer building so perfectly
10:16a man cave oh yes I've got to have one of those and a bar yeah yeah why don't you go check out the
10:24rest of the property and then you can let me know what you think after yeah all right see in a sec okay
10:30thank you quite a few positives but it does seem like size is everything for them so let's see what
10:38they think are the rest of the property nice size bedroom isn't it nice size bedroom some like the
10:44wardrobes there's no air conditioning now anyways ah well spotted I do like this woodwork yeah it is
10:53very nice oh this is a more storage area isn't it yeah it'd be a bit too small to put a stereo system in
11:01here yeah this bungalow is on the market for just over a hundred and fifty nine thousand pounds which
11:10is well within my house hunters budget so what do they think now they've seen the rest of it hello
11:16hi okay yes so how do you go a little bit small but not bad for the first one what did you think of
11:24the outer building etc and the other bedroom bedrooms were lovely size as well and think I'm the
11:30outbuildings a bit small more just like a storage it would be a storage right yeah you won't be able to
11:36put anything in there other than storage okay so space seems to be an issue here yeah okay contender
11:42um probably not I'd say yeah probably by your reactions that's quite underwhelming yeah yeah around the
11:52property we want that a little bit bigger if possible and not so close to so many neighbors
11:57and not too remote yeah and a balance between close and not close yeah okay let's head over to our second
12:06property see what I can come up with yeah come on brilliant come on so now I'm a bit clear about their
12:13priorities on this house hunt I'm taking my couple to the village of las posicas located around a half an
12:19hour's drive west and further inland it's just outside the town of our box so I thought we'd stop
12:25off there on route look at where we are amazing I feel like you're in your element right now oh I am
12:32yeah I mean take a look around you've got all the stalls from fruit to veg spices still just here and it
12:40goes on down there for miles what do you think of this it's all fresh it's it you're conversing with
12:46the locals and it's just a great atmosphere this is beautiful yeah all you need now is a local
12:51property yes please well property number two is a 10 to 15 minute drive away from here okay yeah
12:58not bad no that's all right yeah yeah should we have going oh yes please come on then
13:07coming up if Vanessa and pizza want a bit more space I can't wait to see what they think of my next
13:11property this large converted farmhouse with plenty of outside space
13:24today i'm house hunting in stunning almeria province around half an hour inland with Vanessa
13:28and peter who are looking for their new permanent home and so far i'm not off to the best start but
13:33i'm hoping my next property is going to impress with character and space they felt this bungalow in
13:38urcal wasn't big enough and a bit too close to the neighbors they've already sold their house
13:44in the uk so the pressure's on to find them their perfect pad for the maximum budget of 180 000
13:50pounds i brought my house hunters to the small village of las positas which is around six miles
13:56outside outbox prices here are cheaper than in town so i can show them more for their money and i
14:02think i found them a real gem wow i like this already it's amazing yeah yeah we wanted space
14:14and we wanted to be much more remote than our first property how does this look to you ticking the boxes
14:22for melee yeah it's okay yeah we have four bedrooms four two bathrooms you've got a lovely pool area here
14:31yeah but it is a bit of a smaller plunge pool but plenty of room to expand yeah in future should
14:38you wish to add a decent sized pool yeah yes this is a lot more um what we wanted looking more what we
14:45wanted yeah more open space you wanted a separate kitchen it has that yeah there's a nice terrace at
14:51the top of the property as well and a lovely man cave for you
15:01good properties on the market for just over 141 and a half thousand pounds wow well now that sounds
15:08very good yeah and it was still leaving off money in the pot for the pool guys you're doing my job here
15:15well done you're thinking for me yeah just want to get in now yeah yeah should we go check out inside
15:22oh yes please come on i can't make you wait any longer as well as that pool and garden this converted
15:28farmhouse has a large roof terrace with panoramic views and a private terrace leading off the main
15:34bedroom there's a utility area and inside is a sun room leading onto the garden an open plan living dining
15:42room a kitchen diner with a log burning stove a double bedroom a second double bedroom and a
15:49downstairs toilet upstairs is a main double bedroom with an ensuite bathroom and a single bedroom
15:58you asked for space we did you wanted a separate kitchen yes what do you think of this i love that
16:04little fire amazing i do like it yeah lovely size you both like to cook together right yes this is a
16:11perfect environment plenty of workspace as well and the great thing about this the light the flow as
16:17well because this takes us on to the living and dining space from here okay come with me yeah
16:25i'm giving you tons and tons of space this is lovely plenty of space yeah nice big dining room too
16:34yeah for our dining room table there's a real nice feel to this place as well isn't it yeah it's really
16:41calming did you say you'd be chilling here knitting as well i will yes knitting away and what is it
16:47you knit i knit all sorts jumpers cardigans quite a lot yeah a lot yeah well let me show you where
16:57you can relax upstairs in the main bedroom yeah come on then hey hey hey hey wow yes
17:11this is lovely i love those beams yeah absolutely love it light bright airy fresh fit all your
17:21furniture in no problem no problem at all yeah it is absolutely huge i think you're going to fall in
17:27love with the ensuite when you see it go and check it out and the rest of the property and then come and

17:39very nice oh this is just amazing it's it's wonderful i could literally just stay in this
17:48room oh that bath is quite amazing too i love it this is just lovely isn't it
17:55nice seated area there this is great and that is going to be the bar yes that is perfect for a bar
18:03fantastic views peaceful yeah just the birds just the birds singing yeah excellent this converted farmhouse
18:11is on the market for just over 141 and a half thousand pounds which is well within peter and vanessa's
18:18budget it certainly delivers on space and price so i'm hoping we've got a contender i'm switching it
18:26why do you look so serious i don't like it i'm only kidding i absolutely love it i absolutely love it
18:35yeah it's stunning yeah what works for you here it was really nice yeah the roof terrace is fantastic
18:42ideal bar the space everything if there's something that's not working here what would it
18:48be i'd like a bigger pool but the house itself is perfect so safe to say i've got myself a solid
18:55solid contender i think so yeah yeah a very firm one at that all right well come with me and let's

19:15arbaleas an agricultural town with a traditional spanish feel that's becoming popular with foreign
19:21buyers seeking to settle here permanently before we head to the property i'm taking them to meet someone
19:26who's made their home here now guys i'd like to introduce you to the lovely sharon sharon is a
19:33seasoned pro how long you been here 20 years 20 years what was it like when you moved out here sharon
19:40completely different to what it is now oh yeah so much more available now plenty of live music it's good
19:46how easy is it to learn the language the local town hall the ayuntamiento they offer free spanish classes
19:53tends to start from september fabulous thank you very much thank you should we get going yes please

20:50taking them to el rincon a rural hamlet which has about 140 residents and its own restaurant bar which
20:56is a short walk from the property the town of arbaleas is a six minute drive and i'm really hoping my next
21:03property is going to make a big splash with my house hunters well well well sorry but look at
21:11that the biggest pool we've seen so far absolutely i like this a lot i think you've put a spanner in
21:18the works early oh big big spanner three bedrooms two bathrooms it is detached that's good the great
21:25thing about this property is it's not overlooked so i know you like your privacy yes it's got the
21:30outside space that you wanted yes looking good up to now it's on the market for just over 176 and a
21:36half thousand pounds okay top end of the budget it's top end yeah just judging by what you're
21:43seeing what you're hearing what are you feeling absolutely stunning yes yeah definitely so what's
21:48left now is to have a little peep inside yes please come on as well as that pool and large garden with
21:56extra land this villa has a covered terrace and an outbuilding inside is a living room with a log
22:02burner and french doors leading onto the garden a kitchen diner leading into a conservatory currently
22:08used as a dining room a double bedroom a family bathroom a main double bedroom and a twin bedroom
22:15which both share a jack and jill ensuite shower room big big big big kitchen yeah plenty of space it's a
22:24nice kitchen to nice size but there is a bit of work here it'd be a new fitted kitchen yeah modern
22:29kitchen less clutter because it's there's quite a lot going on in here the good thing is there is
22:35plenty of room in here oh there is yeah you'd have a lovely kitchen in here shall we go and see the
22:41living space yes please yeah come with me now first of all i can't help but be drawn to that
22:51absolutely you've got the french doors that open up plus this lovely that is absolutely stunning isn't
22:57it yeah with all the character i feel like there's a lot happening in this room but if you were to strip
23:01it back you could put your own stamp on this yes you could and our furniture would fit in here
23:07why don't we have a peep at the main bedroom just there yeah yeah after you
23:12yeah lovely lovely size bedroom layout is lovely absolutely lovely it's a nice size okay really is
23:26nice and it would fit our wardrobes the only thing i've spotted is it's missing a lot of storage okay
23:33it spoils us with storage in the other place in comparison to the great master bedroom in the
23:39converted farmhouse almost blew you away yeah it did it really did the last property i did spoil
23:46you with the inside space and now externally i'm spoiling you as well yeah yeah there's that dilemma
23:53swaying up what works for you it is isn't it so we've got to do the pros and cons about that
23:59why don't you go start off checking out the jack of your bathroom and then the rest of the property

24:19that's not bad is it yeah it's a long bathroom it needs a bit of an update yeah

24:41we could do fruit trees or anything here couldn't we we could yeah this detached villa is on the market
24:47for just over 176 and a half thousand pounds which is within my house hunters wiggle room it
24:53certainly seems to have made an impression so is it a contender i keep admiring this because this
25:01is just magnificent it's lovely isn't it beautiful absolutely lovely what do you think of the property
25:07inside there's quite a few updates that are needed yeah they'll need a new kitchen
25:14yeah bathrooms okay we've only got so much money sure sure then that's understandable uh a lot of
25:21money being top end of our budget is it something you're willing to consider or are you ruling it out
25:28no i think we'll consider it because garden space is amazing isn't it yeah on the fence about this one
25:35yeah i think we need to do a bit of thinking on this one yeah moving on what would you like from me
25:39come with a pool land um but nothing really need doing in the house don't mind a bit of painting
25:47and stuff say no more let's head over to my fourth property oh i know you can do it see where it takes
25:54us yeah yeah after you guys okay for my next option we're gonna stay in the area around arboreas
26:02this thriving agricultural town has everything my house hunters could need so we're stopping off here on
26:07our way to the property a lovely new town for us to really get ourselves involved in arboreas nestled
26:18in the beautiful amon zoro valley absolutely stunning got the palm trees you've got the valley you've got
26:24the town hall pizza what do you think it's a beautiful setting yeah it is lots going on here even though
26:30right now it's siesta time you've got your bars and restaurants believe there's a market as well yeah
26:35there's a market every saturday yeah that has everything that you're after let's hope you fall
26:41in love with property number four yeah you're almost close to tears aren't you you really do like this
26:48i can see how much this means to you shall we head over to property number four yes come on then
26:53let's get going okay let's hope you fall in love with it
26:55i'm taking my house hunters around a half an hour's drive out of town to the hamlet llanos del paral
27:05properties are in demand here but there aren't a lot of houses for sale
27:09so if vanessa and peter like my next option they may need to act quickly
27:13look at that property number four yeah oh
27:26two houses one on either side about that it used to be a large farmhouse which has been converted into
27:34three homes okay lots of room both inside and outside nothing needs to be done here this house
27:41has everything you've asked for pool garden okay and interior is in pristine condition oh okay a lovely
27:50three-bedroom two-bathroom home what do you think i'm open-minded yeah i'm a bit worried about the
27:58the neighbors both sides but no it's really pretty it's property on the market for just under 155
28:04thousand pounds okay what's the catch there is no catch the only compromise yeah is the two
28:14prophecies next to you okay you're gonna have a look at this one on your own and then cover five
28:18it's the interior and exterior they want so i'm convinced they're gonna fall in love with it
28:32this house has a pool and a garden and a cupboard veranda inside is a living dining room with a fireplace
28:39a kitchen diner a shower room a main double bedroom with the benefit of an ensuite a double bedroom a twin
28:48bedroom and a bathroom oh wow this is nice it is nice isn't it yeah yeah he wasn't fibbing to us was
28:59he he wasn't fibbing no yeah there's room for our dining furniture yeah and cabinets and for everything
29:06really yeah that's a lovely fire yeah a lovely fireplace this is very nice look at this kitchen
29:13yeah worktops units just like ours back home really nice isn't it i'm the space for an island in the
29:19middle can you put up with the arch out into the lounge i can live with it this is a main bedroom
29:27oh fitted wardrobes look at them look at these wardrobes pey oh they're lovely this is a nice calm
29:35room an ensuite as well yeah an ensuite as well this is gorgeous it is isn't it it's a lovely garden
29:43isn't it this is a beautiful garden that's stunning i love these palm trees they're huge
29:49yeah absolutely huge look at this unbelievable yeah oh i love it and the good thing about it is
29:59it's secluded this terrace house is on the market for just under 155 000 pounds which is well within
30:06my house hunters budget so what do they think come on i'm eagerly waiting we're here you're here
30:15yeah it's a lovely house a lovely house what works for you here i think the the the whole layout um
30:24it's nice and modern and fresh i just it's just really nice yeah it's really nice the garden's
30:31fantastic the pool is fantastic safe to say this is another solid contender yeah yeah definitely before
30:38we came here we saw that three bed with a fantastic pool is that still in the running it's gone okay yeah
30:44the house was just too small so it's between two properties so far which is our great converted
30:51farmhouse yeah and then this yeah we lives are about to get much harder than it already is oh no please
30:59don't come on me come on okay coming up will my final property put the cat amongst the pigeons

31:20today i'm in inland almeria helping vanessa and peter find their dream permanent home and so far
31:25i've got myself two solid contenders and i'm very confident about my last property they're looking for
31:32their dream forever home in the sun with plenty of space and a pool and have a maximum budget of 180 000
31:38pounds they loved the space in this converted farmhouse in las posicas and the interior of this
31:44terraced house in lianos del perel really wowed them they've already sold their house in the uk and are
31:49ready to move so the pressure is on and i've got one last chance to impress them with my final property
31:56but first i'm taking a break from my house on and heading to vera to view this luxury villa it's the
32:05ultimate rural retreat surrounded by beautiful countryside with a price tag of just over six
32:11hundred and ten and a half thousand pounds i can't wait to see inside so i'm meeting the owner fiona for

32:23beautiful it is it's amazing i mean talk about grounds trees landscape i'm desperate to see inside

32:41the light coming through this room i love the marble that you use in the fireplace yeah it's amazing love
32:47the resources you've used in here as well the silestone on the kitchen work surfaces which is very famous
32:52here the marble the flooring the wood all brings it together yeah i'd love to see one of the bedrooms
32:59okay step this way wow i mean talk about color yeah it's beautiful isn't it it is a neutral room but
33:10you've used great color to warm it up and i can see the ensuite there as well yeah that also has marble
33:16oh on the basin yeah i love that should we walk to the pool yeah we shall wow i mean fiona this is a
33:29fantastic pool wow i really love the way you've done the landscape in this garden trees look amazing
33:37what a great size pool as well i bet the summer here it's pretty fun rocking

33:53so it's on with my search and as my house hunters like it so much we're staying in the area around
33:58our balayas but before we head to my final property i want to take vanessa and peter to the nearest beach
34:04now vera playa come on look at this it's stunning isn't it isn't it beautiful yeah yeah you've got
34:13all the beaches there here and a little mountain over there which is just lovely absolutely brilliant
34:20you guys could drive down here and have a little stroll there is a walkway just over there with plenty
34:26of bars shops and restaurants great for the family when your daughter samantha does come to visit as well
34:32would she like this yeah it'd be a lovely day out wouldn't it yeah to just drive down
34:37spend the day on the beach yeah well our final property is a 40 minute drive away from here
34:45shall we head over there yes please come on i'm taking my house hunters to los tereros a hamlet around
34:52a five-minute drive from arboreas my final property has got everything they're looking for both inside and
35:00out and i can't wait to show them to confuse matters even more i present to you our fifth
35:08and final property yeah that's stunning that what have you done what have you done
35:15and i've spotted something as well oh what have you spotted sir a little shed in the corner
35:20aka peter's man cave yeah thank you four bedrooms two bathrooms it is semi-detached but you have
35:31all this beautiful outside space yeah go on go on initially the property was listed at 195 000
