00:00With the USS Abraham Lincoln in the region and a considerable amount of U.S. military material,
00:07plus looking at the track record of the Trump administration,
00:10strikes were carried out on Iranian territory back in June of last year.
00:15We saw what happened in Venezuela.
00:18Do you think perhaps Iran's red lines aren't quite as red as they used to be?
00:22I think it would be very difficult for them to step back from these ideas,
00:25but the regime is definitely more vulnerable than it's ever been since the revolution in 1979
00:31because of its internal problems, the loss of its external allies, the proxies in the region,
00:37and the points you make about the realization that the Trump administration means business
00:41and is prepared to act in unconventional ways that they may have assumed previous administrations were not prepared to go toward.
00:49So we'll see.
00:50I think the important thing is probably not to judge what happens on the first day or the second day.
00:55This is going to require persistent maintenance of pressure from all sides,
01:00the military side, the diplomatic side, and ramping up economic sanctions,
01:04which are not fully being enforced if we're going to really change the mindset
01:09and the calculation of the Iranian leadership.
