00:00former black panther party chairwoman elaine brown had some strong words for the black lives
00:07matter movement in a recent interview she said they had no real plans behind public protests
00:12and of course twitter had tons to say about this at marcy mcfly tweeted elaine brown is a legend
00:18but i'm convinced that anyone who agrees with her comments doesn't actually organize or know
00:22about movement work okay but some agree with the black panther chairwoman at life excuse me at life
00:28and more life said elaine brown's statement was true while blm courts white spaces and faces they've
00:34done little to protect black communities on a local level okay so we got both sides here
00:38panelists what are your thoughts are we slaying or shading and what side are you on we got emoji
00:43slate oh you're in the middle yes so shade no we got shade shade we're in the middle okay cory i'll
00:49start with you who are you shading and why i'm shade and i feel disrespectful doing it but i'm going to
00:54shade elaine brown and i know she gets respect for what she did okay but i think there's something
00:59about the movement in the times that we are now in this digital space because one thing um that i love
01:06about the black lives matter movement is that we are talking about black lives matter we could still
01:10have been quiet over there but there is i could always look to twitter look to social media put in
01:17that hashtag and find out what are the issues i need to be concerned about right now okay um i think it
01:22was very harsh for her to say it feels like you know equating it to like massa and being on a
01:26plantation and all that was very very hard and i think there is some work that the leaders of the
01:31black lives are really doing in the community yes it wasn't on the platform of the black panther
01:38movement but we're in a new day this is a new time and this is new activism okay fair enough tony
01:43we got a slayer shade i'm going with shade okay and who are you shading i'm elaine brown um here's the
01:49thing she's an og black panther movement and the work that she did is the reason why we are afforded
01:55the you know freedoms and such that we have today however i don't like when old heads shade the
02:01youngsters for not doing what they do why not give them a call nowadays twitter instagram you can make
02:07an email let them know these are the mistakes that we made that got us dismantled and us derailed
02:12so instead of attacking the youngsters why not just say you know what this is where you guys need to go
02:17let me connect you with some resources don't get divided doing this and that don't get caught up
02:22in the tv whatever it may be instead of criticizing why not reach down and try to help somebody a system
02:28not alienation yeah basically yeah yeah i mean i'm respectfully shading um miss elaine i and i have to
02:37say miss elaine because you know that's what we did got to respect um i i feel the same way that you
02:42guys feel especially um going on for what tony said if you're going to have a criticism it's best
02:48to also have an action item attached to it as an og we we look up to that we we expect and and hope that
02:54you have that to give us because it's only we only can move the way we know how to move and it's a social
03:00movement and it's much easier to reach people as you said corey online um and to and to mobilize quickly
03:06online and if there is something that's missing why don't you be that miss elaine give us give us
03:12that that instruction that's going to take this into a level that you think is respectable that's
03:17going to give us things that are helping to change laws right to you know and and and make something
03:21different happen um but i don't think that the black lives matter movement is leaderless and i also
03:28don't think it's not mobilized i think that we're doing a lot to make sure that we are heard and we
03:33are seeing so help us out all right well y'all are all on the same page kayla what are they seeing
03:37out there in facebook lots of shade out there come up from underneath the hat so shawna says
03:43ask the black panthers for specifics stop allowing people to get away with these generalizations
03:48jaceline says uh plays on both sides of the movement while black panthers were organized
03:52force that had lives lost and changed black lives matter is an organization that used protests and
03:56social media to get their points out natty says i disagree i found black lives matter to be
04:01more active than occupy wall street and i support black lives matter because it's the most brave
04:06movement america and the world could have seen
