00:00I always say never get too comfortable and do not get settled in the success of today.
00:15What's popping today is what you worked on yesterday, it's what you worked on last year,
00:19it's what you worked on last month. So if you're not consistently working on something today,
00:23then you won't have anything popping next week, next month, next year. So you have to keep doing
00:29stuff to stay current and stay fresh.
00:32A lot of people didn't know that I discovered Jagged Edge. A lot of people don't even know
00:36some of the songs and stuff that I've been on. You know, some people obviously they knew that I
00:41was in the group Escape or they don't know like I was the first woman to ever win Songwriter of the
00:46Year because I've written a lot of songs for a lot of people. I've been very transparent with
00:52what goes on with my business with my daughter for a long time. So she'll tell people her money
00:57is my money. You know, she's like, well, why aren't you here? And I'm like, okay,
01:01do you want me to be able to afford that new outfit or whatever, take you to this place?
01:07She's like, oh, okay, well, you need to get to work. Now, if I'm at home too long, she says,
01:11don't you need to be working or something? Because we got stuff that we need around here.
01:16I feel like a career, especially when you have a long career, it's like a roller coaster. You know,
01:24you're going to have your points where you got your high points and then you have your points
01:27where it gets kind of quiet and you may feel like things are slow and it's low or whatever.
01:32But as long as you never get off the roller coaster, you're going to come back up. And that's how I look
01:36at it.
