00:00With this album, I really want to take it back for people who, like when I listen to it and when I started trying to come up with my plan for how I was going to work this, I mean set this album up, I was like hey, I want to take it back to the escape days when it was like real R&B where you had that bump, you still got that 808 so it's still grooving.
00:30And then it's like those love songs that you can make babies to or it's those songs that when you want to cry you have those songs on there.
00:36So I just wanted to bring that vibe back but make it updated and bring it to today.
00:41Most of the time when I write a song is based off of a relationship that I've been in myself or either every now and then something that my girlfriends or a friend has told me that they went through.
00:55So most of the time when you listen to the song, it's a real experience.
01:00And I'm giving details of the situation and the verses.
01:03So it's like they're real life experiences and I think that's why a lot of times the songs are relatable because everybody experiences the same thing, it's just different names.
01:12I had met Neo a couple times but I had never actually worked with him so I was like wow, okay.
01:18I knew he was a hit maker which was great but then I was like okay, how is that going to work with both writers, is it how the collaboration is going to go?
01:26But as soon as I got in the studio with him, I felt totally comfortable and he was real cool.
01:32And then I just kind of like sat back and let him do his thing because I was like what's the point in getting a Neo record if I'm going to be trying to be like well no I wanted to say this or no.
01:41So I just kind of let him lead the way and I love the way the record turned out.
01:45Candy Coated Nights is a very spicy show that I do on the internet.
01:53We talk about sex and relationships.
01:56It's me and a couple of my friends and we always, we try to have a different celebrity guest every week.
02:01And, you know, we come up with topics that a lot of us probably talk about with our friends but we never talk about those things out in the open.
02:09Being on The Real Housewives of Atlanta wasn't a real thought out decision.
02:14It kind of fell into my lap.
02:16I was supposed to be doing the show with Tiny and Toya.
02:20Tiny had this idea to do a reality show.
02:23I was just writing songs, not thinking about being in front of the camera.
02:27And she asked me to be a part of what they were doing.
02:30Things started going.
02:32The producer that became a part of that show decided he only wanted to use Tiny and Toya.
02:36So I was disappointed.
02:38But a week later, the people from The Real Housewives reached out to me and were like well can we meet with you?
02:43We really, you know, would like to talk to you about being on our show.
02:46And I was thinking, why would they want me on their show?
02:48I'm not married.
02:50You know, but I was like okay, I'll meet with you.
02:52And after we met, you know, I guess they liked me.
02:56So I was just like okay, cool.
02:58I'll just try it.
02:59Dealing with AJ's death was I think the hardest thing that I had to deal with.
03:04Because I'm a person that when somebody very close to me dies, like I lost my brother when I was 15.
03:12So that was like he was the closest person to me.
03:15And I feel like once you lose somebody that close to you, it's like you're kind of numb to death.
03:20But for me, I don't like to talk about it.
03:23I'll just act like it never happened.
03:24I'll kind of block it out.
03:26That's my way of dealing.
03:28But in this situation, I couldn't block it out because people kept wanting to talk about it.
03:32So when I talk about it, it makes me emotional.
03:35But if I just keep going and just stay busy, then I'm okay.
03:38Kim and I have lots of fun together.
03:41I mean, we even vacation together when we're off camera.
03:44It's not like, it's not just us hanging together when we're on tape.
03:48I just think her personality is kind of like larger than life.
03:52People think that she's acting on camera.
03:54No, she's really not.
03:55Like she's really like that 24-7.
03:57It's reality TV.
03:58So, I mean, I knew a lot of people would see the song.
04:01But, I mean, people play it all in the clubs.
04:03And, you know, I walk down the street, don't be starting for the part, you know.
04:07And I'm like, okay.
04:09But that happens sometimes with those type of records.
04:11You know, you have the gimmick kind of records and they blew up larger than life.
04:16And, I don't know, I guess it's the same thing.
04:20Hey, what's up, y'all?
04:21I am your girl, Candy.
04:23And you know what?
04:24You are watching Essence TV.
