00:11Barack Obama, who was early, early in his campaign, and also nowhere near the top of
00:19the polls, came to Essence, Ed, if you remember, got about five to eight minutes on the main
00:25stage to really, in a profound way, introduce himself to black America, and the rest is
00:31history. Anybody running for president who skips Essence, I'm not so sure what's on their
00:39mind. I'm not so sure it shows good common sense, because the people who come to Essence
00:46are also influencers in local communities all across the nation. So it's great that the
00:52candidates are here. I think it represents a newfound respect for the power of the black
00:58community and black women.
