00:00I'm sitting here with you right now, honey,
00:01with a red pump on, Gucci,
00:03with a nice nude lip on, honey, and a lash, you know.
00:07So we're definitely making progress,
00:08but we have, we still have a long, long way to go.
00:17While we're in season three,
00:18Ms. Bruce has grown tremendously since season one
00:21and season two of Starrence.
00:23Bruce went from being just in the salon,
00:25you know, being the, you know,
00:27know-it-all in everybody's business.
00:29Bruce, why are you always throwing shade?
00:31I thought palm tree had a
00:32to knock some sense into it.
00:33He said that I'm cold.
00:36You is.
00:38And that we need a new look.
00:41You do.
00:41Sorcery.
00:42To now co-managing Take Three,
00:47the girls along with Carlotta,
00:49Ms. Bruce's love interest has come into the picture.
00:52Bobby, who is played by Harold Perrineau.
00:54And you get to see a developing relationship
00:58with Ms. Bruce and Noah, who is played by Luke James.
01:02And I think it's very interesting to point out
01:04that you don't often get to see
01:07a gender non-conforming character that is black
01:13have a relationship, a friendship,
01:16with a, you know, heterosexual black man.
01:21Who is this girl that got you all in your feelings?
01:24Who said that there's a her?
01:26I mean, you sitting here with the lights all dim
01:28and it's butter-smooth music like you D'Angelo or somebody.
01:31To be a part of a show that has such a huge diversity of color
01:35and LGBTQ representation is very important.
01:40I don't think we capitalize on it enough,
01:44but I do think the more and more we start to see people
01:48that are black and gay in these spaces,
01:50the more and more we can, you know,
01:53take the bandaid off of unhealed wounds
01:56that people are afraid to touch on.
01:58Star not only highlights the shiny part of things,
02:04it shows a real reality of things.
02:07You know, again, going back to Ms. Bruce
02:09and her relationship with Bobby from Cotton
02:13and her relationship with her mother, Carlotta,
02:16accepting her as a trans woman
02:18and what her relationships look like.
02:20Her, you know, dibbling and dabbling into escorting
02:23and stuff, which we all know is a reality
02:26in the black, gay space.
02:27Going into this whole chapter of entertainment for myself,
02:32you know, I was not 100% sure of how the world
02:37and viewers would react to me as an actor.
02:40To learn that I am a favorable character,
02:43that means a lot to me.
02:45Now, let me have a humble brag moment.
02:47I went from a well-sought-after hairstylist
02:50for over 20 years in Atlanta,
02:52retired from that on top,
02:55went into television.
02:57I started in reality TV.
02:59I then had my own show on Bravo,
03:01and then I left there and then went to Empire,
03:03which is number one show on Fox with the dynamic cast,
03:08to becoming a series regular on another hit show
03:11on Fox called Star.
03:12Kudos to me, and I definitely pat myself on the back.
03:16So what's next?
03:17Definitely a movie.
03:18Definitely a movie.
03:19I want to hit the big, big screen.
03:21And a little birdie told me that that's in the works,
03:23but I can't really talk about that.
03:25But we're gonna continue to claim it in the atmosphere,
03:27you know, and music.
03:33This next episode for the
03:41byspeisc phones,
03:43and then hollering.
03:48What's next?
03:53I kindness,
03:54and I love that,
03:58and look.
04:00I love that.
