The ESSENCE Fest vet talks her appreciation for her fans (and why she can't do New Orleans food anymore!).
Transcript
00:00I'm afraid to say, I don't think I brought the love. I think everyone here brought the love.
00:10And that's how I felt the first time I came here. There's no experience like it. So positive, so warm and loving.
00:19I was at the convention center earlier and it just gave me this great feeling to know my fans are intact and we're good.
00:30Can you tell me about some of the favorite foods that you've had while you've been in New Orleans?
00:33Okay, New Orleans, I love you, but the fried food, I can't. I can't do it this year. I have videos to shoot.
00:43So I've been in Whole Foods every day getting like chicken salad. But I smell it and I know it's nasty.
00:53Do you have a message to a woman out there who loves you that loves new music? Something about it?
00:57Yeah, I would just say love yourself. Love the skin you're in. Whatever shade. I think, I hate when I see people like this color, that color.
01:07Hey, we're in this together. We're all. Everybody, really. Humans.
01:11And I don't think we should separate each other and judge each other by the color of our skin.
01:17And we need that love. We need to. And it starts by loving yourself.
01:23That's something I've been working on very hard and it's been fruitful.
01:33Bye.
01:35Bye.
