00:00We're turning up. We're having us a good time. Common's still on the main stage and now a
00:10Louisiana girl is in the building. Miss La Portia, how are you? I'm good. How are you? I'm super excited to meet you. I feel like I already know you because I've watched you on television. I was like rooting for you and voting. Is this your first Essence Festival? It is. It's crazy because it's so different, especially being on this side of things. It's a blessing.
00:29What's something that you've had a chance to do since the festival started? Well, I had a chance to go in there and see Common up close. I was saying, girl, yeah, up close, all up in there.
00:41And I've met some people that I really admire, some great actors, actresses. Everybody's out here supporting the Essence Festival. It just makes me feel really good, proud, you know, of my people.
00:53Definitely, definitely. And where can your fans find you? What are you up to? Are you working on a new album or what's going on, girl?
00:58So they can find me at La Portia Renee, and that's on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. And yes, right after the show, I was signed to Motown. I've been working on an album, so it's going to be coming out real soon. I'm excited. It's got that old school, you know, throwback vibe to it. All ages are going to be able to listen to it, and you're going to hear my soul and heart on it.
01:18Do you have any special guests or any special people like big producers that you're getting a chance to work with?
01:22Still working on it. Still working on it. Got some ideas, though.
01:27Well, whenever you release that, you've got to come right back here to Essence Live and let us get a taste of it.
01:32Thank you so very much. It's a pleasure to be here, La Portia. Thank you so very much.
01:35You just never know who you're going to get right here. That's a Louisiana girl. I'm a Louisiana girl, so I'm all about the Louisiana girl.
01:42That's a Louisiana girl.
