00:00Bupita, you said you've given Patsy her justice. Can you explain that?
00:12That's what I was attempting to do, to give Patsy justice, because the Patsy that I met in Solomon Northup's memoir
00:20is described as having an air of loftiness that neither labor nor lash could rid her of.
00:26She's agile, she's hard-working, she's the fastest cotton-picker of the five, for crying out loud.
00:33She's an incredible woman, and she undergoes and withstands a lot of pain.
00:41And I was awestruck by her, and I wanted to do that character justice, to represent her with dignity and agency as best as I could, and I hope that I did that.
00:54You both are part of an elite group of actors right now, black actors, who are getting critical praise for your work.
01:00What is that like to be in this moment today?
01:06For me, it's been overwhelming.
01:13Doing this movie meant so much to me, and everything else has been more than I could have asked for. It started from Jump.
01:28And I'm just so happy that this movie is resonating with people, and that it is the gift that we set out to give to the world.
01:36All right.
01:37Thank you, everyone.
