00:00I've come so far. I mean, I started 10 years ago. This December will be 10 years I've been
00:14signed to Interscope. A lot of my fans wanted heartbreak songs, so to speak, and so I feel
00:23like woman to woman, I kind of delivered that, and I want to make sure that I just keep in tune
00:28with my fans and make sure that they understand that I 100% know where they're coming from.
00:33This is the first time that I've written with a bunch of different writers. I've never been
00:40able to because I've always felt like I can channel my own emotion and my own feeling and
00:45express that. I don't need anybody to help me with that, but now that I'm married and
00:50I haven't experienced that pain and that frustration and all of those emotions that I experienced
00:57before, I decided to bring some writers on board that, of course, are still experienced
01:03and are able to pull from that place. And we just teamed up and partnered up, and I kind
01:10of gave my input on the direction of sometimes what I would or wouldn't say. Everybody is
01:16releasing singles, and really, I mean, when you release a single and you sell 3 million copies,
01:22and then you sell 70,000, 80,000 albums, it's like, why even put out an album? I want to
01:30make every song on the album single potential so that, you know, we can sell more records
01:36that way. There's so many girls in every hood across the world that kind of look up to me,
01:43and I want to show them. That was my whole point of doing the reality show, and I didn't
01:47want to lose focus of that. And so here we are today doing Family First, and I have my
01:53son, and my husband is here, and, you know, he's on his thing with his NBA thing. I'm in
02:00my last album for this record label, and hopefully I'll resign with Interscope. But, you know,
02:07I mean, we're just in this crucial time in our careers, both of us, and it's being well documented.
02:14Yeah, I mean, it was worth it, you know. I mean, I think that for our kids, and for our
02:20kids' futures, and the people that follow me, only the people that follow me, because
02:24I can't, you know, contribute to the other people out there, but I think that they're
02:28going to learn a lot, and they're going to be able to see a lot coming from what I come
02:32from up until now. My thing is, is that when I was that little girl, and I looked up to
02:37Mary and said, oh my God, I know what that can do to somebody. Just like when I reach out
02:42to my fans, and I DM my fans on Twitter, or if I allow a couple of my fans to come, for
02:48them to be in my circle, for them to get that, you know what I'm saying, for them to be able
02:51to see that, I think it's just uplifts. If I had that when I was a young girl, and I could
02:57get a DM from Mary that said, yo, no matter what, keep your head up, or, you know, don't
03:03take that from that dude, like, stop tweeting about that, you know what I'm saying, I would,
03:06I mean, that would give me strength and motivation, you know what I'm saying, so, I mean,
03:10but I think just to be able to show them that is amazing.
