Mike Vrabel is showing WHAT for preparation Sunday?
Vrabel seems to be focused on getting this team ready for every scenario. ...Crowd noise? How about some Peyton Manning film?
Coco: "Perfect guy for the job"
Transcript
00:00They had an exclusive with Vrabel yesterday.
00:01I love this part of Vrabel talking about, this is before they left and got on the flight,
00:05what he's showing the team in the film room.
00:11We'll keep swinging.
00:13We'll keep figuring something out.
00:14They've embraced the road warriors.
00:17I guess just trying to explain to all these guys what it takes to win on the road
00:21and how hard it is during the regular season with all these new guys and young players.
00:26And they've understood what it is and what it takes
00:30and how you have to be able to take the crowd out of it and take care of the football
00:33and all these things that we've done along the way to help us win on the road.
00:38And we've tried to adopt that this week.
00:41And we'll continue to try to focus on the things that are going to help us show them
00:45the Peyton Manning play from when Seattle played the Broncos and the crowd noise
00:51and Peyton walking up behind the center and him snapping the ball
00:55because they weren't on the same page to start the game.
00:58And I'm just trying to show them all these things that could potentially occur
01:01so that they're prepared for them.
01:03I think that's really smart.
01:04And obviously, you know, that didn't go well for Peyton, who is not Shimes guy, Curtis.
01:09I think he had him 15th on the all-time quarterback list.
01:11What are you talking about?
01:11I had Peyton two.
01:12Oh, okay.
01:13That was the 43-8 loss or whatever safety on the first play.
01:17So I just feel confident if you're a Pats fan, Vrabel has all the details taken care of.
01:22You don't want to overload them with too many things, but he's so good at getting the focus
01:28on the right places.
01:30I just think he's the perfect guy for the job.
01:31I think that he has put this team together perfectly.
01:34I think he knows how to make them fired up, get them to tick.
01:39And I just think that's where my confidence lies.
01:41You can put your confidence in the defense.
01:43They've been performing great.
01:45Is your confidence in Drake May right now with the shoulder and how we've seen him perform
01:48in the postseason?
01:49I don't know.
01:49My confidence lies with Mike Vrabel.
01:51Yeah, and I feel like there has never been a team that has benefited more from the details
01:55of a head coach in this Patriots team, where all the mistakes they made last year with,
02:00you know, and then the mistakes with Belichick and Patricia and how many times, remember
02:04there was like a, Sean, you'll remember this, goal line stand, I think it was against the
02:09Raiders, and they're at the like one yard line.
02:12They had like six plays.
02:13They kept having to call timeout.
02:15This is in Belichick's final year with the Patriots.
02:17Mack Jones is gyrating towards the sideline.
02:19Was that the same game as the Jacoby Myers backwards pass?
02:22The pick six, but yes.
02:26Mack Jones got stiff-armed into the earth.
02:28The lunatic lateral.
02:29But with Vrabel, it's like things that I wasn't even calling for in real time.
02:35I go back to the Saints game where the receiver landed in bounds before the two-minute warning
02:40and they said that he was out of bounds.
02:42They challenge it and then they just take a knee.
02:43There is never a time in a game where I'm like, is he aware of what's going on?
02:48That Drake may scramble before halftime.
02:50He is calling timeout as soon as Drake may goes down so that they have one second left
02:54on the clock to at least attempt a field goal.
02:56And that was exactly great.
02:58That's the best representation they had.
03:00He's running.
03:00He sees his coach.
03:01And he did that.
03:02Like, I remember last year when the Patriots went to Tennessee, they score on the final play
03:06of the game and it's like, there's not a thought at all.
03:09Like, in my opinion, Vrabel would have gone for two.
03:11A hundred percent he would have.
03:12You know you had momentum.
03:14The defense on the other side is gassed.
03:16Right.
03:16You have the opportunity to just win the game on the road.
03:18You go for two.
03:19And obviously they prepared for the weather somehow better than the Broncos in their own
03:22stadium.
03:23I mean, they just played the second half perfectly to the style of the game.
03:27Whereas Sean Payton's blowing it in the first half and going for it.
03:30Sean Payton lost the game on fourth down.
03:31Yeah.
03:31Going up 10-0.
03:34Because you had a better coach than them, you won the game.
03:37Let's go to Mike Florio next from Radio Row, who gave you his vote for the MVP.
03:43So the Pats are 0-2 this week.
03:44No bill in.
03:45No craft in the Hall of Fame.
03:46Does Drake win the most valuable player?
03:48Here's who Florio said he voted for.
03:50Was Drake the MVP of the league this season?
03:53I'm not allowed to say.
03:54Well, look, I don't want to get fired from my unpaid job with the Associated Press to
03:59spend hours of time and thought and expertise for no compensation whatsoever.
04:03So they don't like us to say who we voted for.
04:06Yeah.
04:06Until after the awards are announced.
04:09So I voted for Drake May.
04:11Oh, excellent.
04:13And the latest person to come out in support of craft, Gary Myers from New York Giants.
04:20Full transparency.
04:21I voted for Robert Kraft.
04:23As I mentioned, I also voted for Bill Belichick.
04:25Yeah.
04:25That was 35 minutes ago.
04:27Do you think, what's your hunch?
04:28Drake going to finish first or second?
04:30I think he's going to win.
04:31Really?
04:31Shine?
04:31I don't.
04:32No?
04:33Stafford wins it?
04:34It's a career achievement award for Stafford, which is stupid and not the way you should
04:38be voting on the MVP.
04:39Well, actually, it fits the theme of the week.
04:41So maybe like that is the trifecta of the weekend.
04:43Just it's Patriots against the world again.
04:46That's the theme of the Super Bowl, right?
04:47Yeah.
04:47It's I mean, it's worked thus far.
04:49By the way, before we get to some more Radio Row audio, here's Edwards in Texas.
04:54Do you like these conspiracies or no?
04:55They make no sense.
04:57But they have your name in it.
04:58Edwards.
04:59Hey, gang.
04:59Thanks for taking the call.
05:01Appreciate it, gang.
05:02Kurt, I got a Kurt Spiracy for you.
05:05It's not so much for Kraft because he's been trying to get in for 20 years.
05:09But I have a feeling they're holding Belichick back so they can induct Tom and Bill and now
05:14Kraft along for the ride all together.
05:16Wait, wait, wait, wait.
05:17Don't hit.
05:17Wait, wait.
05:18Ed, we've heard this.
05:19I don't know where there's like online meetings for this.
05:21Why would a group of people that are dead set against the Patriots be working together
05:26to get them to celebrate them all at the same time?
05:29I think it's so then they can throw it in everybody's face that we didn't hate them all
05:33along and now we're going to have a Patriots love fest.
05:36What?
05:36So you think that they hate the organization, they despise the people they're voting out,
05:41and then they want to put them all together for a reunion?
05:45Hey, isn't it a great script, Kurt?
05:47I love a good Kurt Spearcy like a second gunman on the grassy knell because there was a second
05:52gunman on the grassy knell.
05:52If I said there was a second gunman at the, you know, the department store.
05:57You said there's another, you posted a story or sent one, another video.
06:02Hasn't been seen publicly since 1978, which I guess captures the evidence of another gunman.
06:06Curtis, I'm just saying it is like, you know, classic literary trope, pretend to be the
06:10villain only to become the hero.
06:11Yeah, with all due respect to Ben Bolin, I don't think he's capable of literary tropes.
06:14Maybe some of these voters will retire by then, so they want to push it off until 2028.
06:18All three pats get in after they're out of the business.
06:21It just sucks, though, because whenever, if they get in eventually, it's tainted.
06:26You know what I mean?
06:27Well, it already is, because here's Matt Light yesterday with the guys, and he was asked about
06:31Bill not getting in.
06:32And this is the growing sentiment of who these Hall of Fame voters are from players and other
06:36people.
06:37You know, it's wild to me, man.
06:39And I've had a lot of thoughts about this, right?
06:41And I think that it's been fun, actually, to listen to some of the people that absolutely,
06:46you know, do not like Bill Belichick, whether it's a former player that was a little disgruntled
06:52or somebody that, you know, I don't know, just can't get over a moment in time, right?
06:56The thing that blows my mind is that we're talking about all this, and nobody is saying
07:02a word about the people who are actually going, or at least eligible to go in.
07:07That's the part that really bothers me.
07:10And look, Bill's going to be in the Hall, and all this stuff is, the fact that we're
07:14even talking about it's crazy.
07:15It just speaks to the breakdown, the breakdown in the process, and the fact that, you know,
07:21look, it's the number one honor for an individual's importance to the National Football League,
07:27right?
07:27And their contributions.
07:29You would think that that would be a sacred process, and you'd have intelligent people
07:34making important decisions, and what we know now is that that is not the case.
07:42So, don't you think that's the sentiment?
07:43It's like, these people voting for the Hall of Fame are idiots.
07:46It probably will change the process going forward.
07:49Maybe it will be televised.
07:50Wiggy might be onto this.
07:51I mean, Wiggy has been on that, but I think, yeah, they're all a joke now.
07:55Nobody's talking about the fact that, oh, yeah, they made a strong decision.
07:57I mean, there are a few people that are like, wow, what a brave decision to leave Bill and
08:01Kraft off.
08:01But, for the most part, everybody's just going through the list and making fun of the
08:04people on it.
08:05Every person on that list is now considered a boob.
08:08Every single one of them.
08:09Whether you voted for Bill at this point or not, you're now considered a boob because
08:12he's not it.
08:12I don't know about you, Oscar.
08:13Some people like boobs.
08:14It's true.
08:15They're fine.
08:15Greg Hill Show Twitter poll.
08:16Bigger snub.
08:18Belichick or Kraft.
08:19Bill leading the way.
08:2169%.
08:21Which is nice.
