00:00An early start for Port Adelaide players.
00:06Training pushed forward to avoid the peak of the Adelaide heat,
00:09which reached over 39 degrees just after midday.
00:13Thousands experienced blackouts as winds down heat-stressed trees and power lines.
00:19Since about 4.30pm yesterday when these gully winds started,
00:22we've had around 38,000 customers across metropolitan Adelaide impacted.
00:27And it's likely more outages are yet to come.
00:30These trees are still under stress and when those winds kick up again tonight
00:35and potentially tomorrow night, we will see probably the impact of that.
00:39On Thursday, heat records were broken in four South Australian towns,
00:42according to the Weather Bureau, including at Andamooka in the states far north,
00:46which hit a scorching 50 degrees.
00:49I think we could be up to around 30, maybe even 40 records,
00:52both January records and all-time records this week.
00:55So it's a record-breaking heat way through large parts of the country.
00:58Further north at Dulcan Inner Station,
01:00pastoralists are trying to get as much as they can done in the early morning or evening
01:05to escape the worst of the weather.
01:07It's amazing what the difference is between say 48 and say 43 or something like that,
01:11you know what I mean?
01:12So I know it doesn't seem like much,
01:14but it makes a massive difference out here because it's such a dry heat.
01:17Most of the state should be feeling much more comfortable by Sunday
01:20with temperatures set to dip down into the 20s for most districts
01:24before climbing back up into the 30s again by next week.
