00:00Kate Bosworth's latest fashion collaboration may be her most personal.
00:03To promote her new feature film about sex trafficking, Nona, the actress has teamed up with J Brand
00:08to shine a light on human trafficking. With photos she shot of the film's star, Sulem Calderon,
00:13featuring the denim maker's spring collection and a special t-shirt.
00:16Nona, co-produced by Bosworth and husband Michael Polish's Make Picture Productions,
00:21puts a face on Central America's sex trafficking industry. It follows the path of a single
00:26Honduran girl from her home in San Pedro Sula, across four countries and into the world of
00:30modern-day sex slavery. The fictional film is written and directed by Polish, featuring
00:35Bosworth in the role of a detective. It's also been making the festival rounds most recently
00:39at the Richmond Film Festival. The title is an acronym for No Name, a nod to the often faceless victims.
00:45The couple's interest in the subject started when they heard a story about sex trafficking on NPR.
00:50Bosworth told The Hollywood Reporter,
00:56Their research into the topic led them to the LA-based Organization for Sex Trafficking Survivors
01:06called CAST, the Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Human Trafficking, which will receive 100%
01:12of proceeds from a t-shirt featured in the photo shoot. Bosworth shot the photos for the editorial
01:16feature at her home. And for one image, she took a sharpie pin to the brand's basic white
01:21Carolina tea, personalizing it by writing the word love on the collar. Jay Brand liked the look so much,
01:27the design team decided to stitch love onto the collar of the shirt for the production run.
01:31And proceeds from the sales of that design will go to CAST.
01:34The actress also told THR,
01:36Our hope with the film and this project is to impart knowledge," she added.
01:40They are all victims of violence who are in danger in their countries.
01:43And if they don't have any way to get into the country legally, they will try to get into the country illegally.
01:48And that opens the door to sex trafficking.
