00:00Michael Moore's new Trump documentary, Fahrenheit 11-9, bombed at the box office this weekend,
00:09but it wasn't the only one. Two other high-profile fall festival films opened nationwide only to
00:14get iced. Edgy teen comedy Assassination Nation and Life Itself from the creator of This Is Us
00:20also brought in equally disappointing numbers. Fahrenheit 11-9 came in eighth place in North
00:25America with $3.1 million. Back in 2004, Moore's doc, Fahrenheit 9-11, debuted to a record-breaking
00:32$23.9 million. Moore worked hard to publicize the opening of the new movie, making all kinds
00:38of press appearances, including covering The Hollywood Reporter. But in the years between
00:42the two Fahrenheit films, social media and the 24-7 news cycle have exploded. As a result,
00:48Moore's new critique of Trump is competing with the daily jokes and attacks lodged by cable news
00:53pundits and late-night comedians, making it feel like old news. Meanwhile, Life Itself,
00:58directed by This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman, came in at just $2.1 million after getting ravaged
01:04by critics. The multi-generational film featuring a star-studded cast came in at number 10.
01:09All I ever wanted was for Will to marry a woman with dead parents, so I wouldn't have to share
01:13the grandchildren. It's okay, she knows when. And Sam Levinson's satirical revenge thriller
01:20featuring a posse of gun-toting teen girls called Assassination Nation fared even worse,
01:25earning an estimated $1 million.
01:27There's two types of people in this world. People that have come to terms with privacy
01:31as just dead. Then there's the old people that are still trying to fight it.
01:35The only new movie to do impressive business this weekend was the big-screen adaptation
01:39of the beloved kids' book, The House with the Clock in Its Walls. The family-friendly movie
01:43starring Jack Black and Cate Blanchett debuted to a better-than-expected $26.9 million,
01:49easily topping the chart. For the latest box office numbers, head to THR.com,
01:53and be sure to let me know what you saw in theaters this weekend in the comments.
