00:06Then you went to the Wyndham Championship.
00:08You have a great playoff run.
00:10Where you end up getting really close to the Tour Championship, I believe finishing fourth place.
00:15And still, you never really know.
00:17So I'll.
00:20How tough was it, you know, waiting to get that call from Keegan, knowing how important it was for you?
00:25To play for that Ryder Cup team.
00:26And then also, of course, I mean, it's Beth Page in New York.
00:30Where you won the New York State Open as an amateur.
00:32So you just I imagine just.
00:35The anxiety waiting on that phone call was at an all time high.
00:38Yeah, I mean, it.
00:40It is it's truly a once in a lifetime opportunity in particular.
00:45For me being from that area, you know, I'm never going to get that again, you know.
00:50I don't know when the next Ryder Cup could even possibly be in New York, but my guess is I.
00:55I will barely still be standing.
00:56So you're going to be captain.
00:57Yeah.
00:58I don't know about that.
01:00But yeah, I mean, it definitely was on my mind and we kind.
01:05Kind of re-evaluated after Augusta.
01:08I've played some awful golf.
01:10In the beginning of the year.
01:11And, you know, we just said, OK, where are we going?
01:15And my answer was the first tee at the Ryder Cup on Friday.
01:20And which I was God knows we're in the points.
01:23I was like 80th in.
01:25The FedEx Cup probably by the end of April.
01:27Long way to go.
01:28Yeah.
01:29So.
01:30And I mean, genuinely felt like, why am I even thinking about that?
01:34Um.
01:35And but yeah, I mean, things things started looking up kind of.
01:40Beginning of May.
01:41Um.
01:42It really started then.
01:43I played well at the Truist.
01:45And then I actually played well at the PGA Championship as well.
01:47I just happened to be deathly ill.
01:50So kind of turned like a week that I felt like I was playing good into a 50th just because.
01:55I could hardly keep my head off the ground.
01:57Um.
01:58But yeah, from from there, I mean.
02:00I had had a lot of a lot of good golf that I played and then obviously kind of culminates in.
02:05Winning at Sedgefield in the winning championship and you know.
02:10I I had spoken with Keegan about the Ryder Cup about a year prior.
02:15To that kind of as soon as as soon as he knew he was the captain.

02:20I sat with him for a while one day and just.

02:25I was expressed my desire to be on the team and there was with no no real pre-demo.
02:30And I didn't have any sense of anything.

02:33Said you know, obviously this is a dream for me.
02:34It's New York and I want to make that team.

02:57And, um, yeah, finished, finished fifth.
03:00That's St. Jude, uh, and literally said the exact same thing.
03:05Um, which was, I was fine with it.
03:06It's like, okay, I'm playing good.
03:07At least I know I have the opportunity.
03:09It's right here in front of.
03:10I mean, yeah, it's just up to me to play some big golf and then, you know, then.
03:15I shot, I made like a, I made an eight or something.
03:17The, the last hole of the first.
03:20First round of the BMW championship and I was like, okay, maybe that was it there.
03:24And.
03:25Found my way back to 11th and then played great at Eastlake.
03:30And, um, like you said, I mean, there is some anxiety involved waiting for that call, but at that.
03:35Time off of that little four week run that I just had.
03:40I, I, I was pretty at peace with whatever happened, you know, obviously I, I.
03:45I desperately wanted to be on the team, but I couldn't have asked much more.
03:50More of myself for those four weeks, um, you know, I would have loved to play a little bit better here and there, but.
03:55All in all, if you had said that I was going to even have a chance to be in the question.
04:00In April or in May, I would have told you, you were nuts.
04:03So I was just.
04:05Grateful to be in that position where my name was even in, in that, you know.
04:10Um, so obviously it, it worked out great and I'm extremely grateful to Keegan for good.
04:15For me that opportunity, I know it's a difficult situation for him.
04:18He, you know, had.
04:20By every means, uh, a good enough couple of years to be on that team.
04:25And, um, I understand in some ways, I don't know.
04:30Exactly how everything was, but to some extent it feels like it could have been either me or him and.
04:35For him to give me that opportunity, you know, in my home state, um, is, is really.
04:40Especially to me and I'm extremely grateful to him for that.
