00:00This is so spoilery, but yeah, but it's hopefully this comes out after the movie.
00:10Did you ever consider the full chaos idea of calling this movie I know what you
00:15did last summer 28 days later 28 years later 27 years
00:20No, we didn't but maybe we should call Sony
00:25We did was were there any other considerations for the title? No
00:30Because it's its own story and because it is its own accident that has
00:35Nothing to do with the original accident. That's what it is. You know what I mean? Like because we've kind of like
00:40Yes, we bring in the the you know Freddie and Jen, but it is its own
00:45Kind of contained entry and they did something last summer. So there's kind of no other
00:50Title for me. How long do you actually think that each of you would survive if you were being hunted?
00:55By a serial killer no time zero amount of time
01:00It's like he has a crazy hook. Oh is that the serial killer there?
01:05Sure, yeah, if you want. Yeah, yeah, he has
01:08the fisherman
01:10Millions of weapons
01:12Millions and millions of weapons
01:15Disposal I think my panic would would get the best of me
01:20And I think the first couple moves I think I would make the right
01:25choices and then I would start to think about it too much and I would panic and I would make a wrong move
01:30And then listen, I think we've all picked up some tricks of the trade after
01:35Filming this movie. Yeah, if the fights with the serial killer could be like choreographed dances. I'd say that
01:40That would be pretty good. And at half speed
01:42And at half speed
01:43Yeah, half speed, too fast
01:44Yeah, and if you
01:45You could say time out if it goes wrong
01:47They come in through the door and say okay, let's just block it
01:49Yeah, yeah, yeah
01:50Nice little cushion on the ground
01:51Uh-huh
01:52Big bud
01:53Yeah
01:55Oh my god
01:56Oh my god
01:57I'm calling out M1
01:58Everyone chill out
01:59We don't tell anybody
02:00What happened tonight?
02:01We should go
02:04Having made
02:05This film after the experience of making the studio
02:07Did it color like the idea of making a franchise?
02:10Film at all?
02:11That's a good question
02:12I think
02:13I was
02:14I
02:15I was a lot of IP floating around right now as we all know and I actually
02:20received a couple other IP sort of projects
02:24Um
02:25From my agents
02:26But this one stood out to me as something that was very exciting
02:30And actually I mean the whole cast of the studio they were kind of the age of like when
02:35This original movie came out so they're excited they're excited they're fans but it don't it did
02:40I did color it in the sense that I feel like I got a lot of comedic
02:45It was a comedic master class and bringing that into this helped a lot in terms of
02:50Just uh bringing some levity to this
02:55You need to handle this
02:57This isn't the first time there's been violence like this in South
03:00It's not going to stop
03:02It's not going to stop
03:03It's not going to stop
03:05It's not going to stop
03:06It's not going to stop
03:10It's not going to stop
03:11It's not going to stop
03:12It's not going to stop
03:13It's not going to stop
03:14It's not going to stop
03:15When did you get the idea to have Raby the killer?
03:15What was your first reaction to getting that news?
03:17Yeah you start with her because the big swing is her
03:20Instantly like when Sony came to me and said would you want to do this
03:25I kind of had two things that I said yes but I want to kill basically
03:30everyone I don't want to make a movie where we're setting up a franchise with you know you have seven
03:35characters in six survive I was like we're killing a lot of people body counts higher
03:40And then I knew that when I really sat down and thought about where would these people be and how
03:45How could this change a person especially knowing that they each have kind of their tether
03:50In the movie in the young cast what would that look like and so
03:55So I said and I think Ray would be the killer I want Ray to be the killer and
04:00Sony said yes and then I was very nervous I brought it to Freddie and Freddie said yes
04:04Yes
04:05She like I said she took a big swing and you know there's a lot of pressure
04:10In that comes along with that I know that it's gonna make some die-hard fans up
04:15I'm upset because it should break their hearts that was kind of my goal in the performance
04:20It's why I tried to play him so vulnerable and broken in the hopes for that that's
04:25That's all deliberate but at the same time as as scary as that is it's just as exciting
04:30I've never gotten to do that ever I've never gotten to be the man in the mask
04:35I've never gotten to be the monster and Hollywood is not going to allow that ever
04:40Um and when she was like yo you get to you get to do this you get to be this I just
04:45Had to know why and how and once those questions were answered I said yes and it was before this
04:50The script was even written it was just based off the idea and heard her thought and effort
04:55And energy that she put into to Ray and where he would be now at this point in his life
04:59Well they even kind of dig down
05:00I mean how did you kind of think about his marriage to Julie and kind of
05:05What they went through and then obviously the events in the town to kind of cover up the events?
05:09Yeah I mean look I have a
05:10A lot of friends whose relationships didn't work out for a plethora of reasons
05:14And uh
05:15Sometimes it's trauma and not dealing with that trauma and and that that sort of
05:20Shortens your fuse over years and little things start setting you off and it's not really connected
05:25To what just happened it's connected to something that happened years ago
05:28So there's a lot of bringing that to work
05:30To work with you um which isn't fun but in between the words action and cut it's a blast
05:35Because you get to kind of demonstrate it and execute it and show people what you've prepared and then hope
05:40Hopefully you're able to kind of let all that go and see what happens in the moment you know what I mean it all
05:45Depends on kind of how the days how the days flow in it depends dictates on on how
05:50Far you go in a scene but but once I knew the reason why and I knew how I could play a
05:55Broken man because that's what ray is at this point he's not this this blue-collar hero anymore he has
06:00Been broken by this he didn't deal with it and trauma either makes you or breaks you
06:05I know people that it's made stronger and I know people that it's broken into and uh this is
06:10So spoilery but uh yeah, but it's it's hopefully this comes out after the movie
06:15And uh, and yeah, he's a he's a broken man and this is the result you're seen with Sarah Michelle Gellar
06:20Which is it's so I mean she's a genre legend. What was it like having that moment with her? Oh
06:25That was awesome. Um god I mean awesome doesn't even cover it was iconic. It was amazing. It was so
06:30Like I called my parents at the end of the day and I was like, oh my god, I just think
06:35I did something really cool
06:37Even just to have all the OGs
06:40Come back and just be on set and be a part of it or and to give their blessing is
06:45Is one thing but then to be in a scene with B
06:50Sarah Michelle Gellar who's Helen is my danish blueprint
06:55You know, it is is really really special and um
07:00I don't know it's it's really indescribable and it's probably one of the most iconic days
07:05of my life
07:09We are not
