CTP: Rollercoasters - The Life Kind NotThe Amusement Park Kind - BTS/SP Video
Transcript
00:00Everybody, I'm kind of sitting here chuckling a little.
00:09I'm watching TV and I don't remember for the product.
00:15It wasn't really paying much attention.
00:19And it's only like maybe the third or fourth time I've seen it.
00:24Again, each time not really paying attention to the ad.
00:28But there's a couple.
00:30And asked, what's the one word that describes your relationship?
00:37And the guy, I think it's the guy in the commercial, says roller coaster.
00:43Well, hey, that could be a very good term.
00:49Is it like the little wildcat ride you could find at any traveling carnival
00:57that pops up in the mall's parking lot?
01:02You know, very mild.
01:04Like Longfellow in my, oh, let me grab.
01:09I'm grabbing.
01:10My latest book came out January 1226, complicated life and living, fourth in the life and living theories of both.
01:22Longfellow's quote, every life a little rain figurative and literal will fall.
01:30Well, a roller coaster.
01:32Is it mild?
01:35Like Cedar Point, if you've ever been there in Sandusky, Ohio, that's near me in Michigan.
01:43I've been a longtime visitor to Cedar Point.
01:49Oh, pardon the background.
01:51Some lights coming in from the door and causing a little glare there.
01:56But anyway, back to the point.
01:58Cedar Point, I can't think of the coaster.
02:00You walk in the front gates over to the left.
02:04There's like a picnic area in around the back of the picnic area.
02:10Old, white, wooden coaster.
02:13Very mild.
02:15You only have the seat belt.
02:17No harness because it's not a massive structure.
02:21Wild and crazy.
02:24Just a few hills.
02:26And if you lift your hands up off the rail, you get a little air time.
02:32Yeah, every relationship should be like that kind of roller coaster.
02:38There's bound to be some ups and downs.
02:40There could, there should be some minor discrepancies and discussions and even minor arguments.
02:48That means you're alive.
02:50It means you're working because relationships are work.
02:56You need to work at them.
02:58It means you're doing well.
03:01Now, if by roller coaster you mean the beast at Kings Island in Cincinnati, Ohio, well, then you got issues.
03:15Then it's a rough marriage.
03:18It's a rough go.
03:19The beast, world-renowned wooden coaster, Kings Island.
03:25I've been there many times, too.
03:27I used to be a member of ACE, American Coaster Enthusiast Club.
03:33And back when I was married, we were part of the group.
03:37And we'd go to various parks around wherever.
03:43And as part of the club, we'd get access into the park before it opened to get in line for a coaster before it officially opens.
03:52So we're right there.
03:53We'd get a jump like Kings Island, go to the beast, be able to ride that.
03:59And then, you know, while people are still piling in the park, you're done with your ride already and off to another coaster getting in line for that before that line gets very long.
04:13At any rate, that's a side thing.
04:16But, yeah, roller coaster, what kind?
04:18A mile one?
04:19That's great.
04:20That's wonderful.
04:21You're doing good.
04:22The Beast?
04:23That's a whole lot.
04:24Or America's Six Flags America and California.
04:31I can't think of the big Fire and Ice, I think they have, dual steel track ones.
04:41That's a bit, you know, or is it like the Maverick Top Gun one?
04:51That's like Iron Dragon at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio.
04:58It's really just a dangling, mild coaster.
05:01They call it a coaster.
05:03It isn't even a coaster.
05:04It's more like a cable car ride, you know, where you're in the gondola and you go over the ground and you land at the other.
05:12Those are pretty mild.
05:14You dangle a bit.
05:15You sway a bit.
05:17But you're in a car.
05:18Those are mild.
05:21So, at any rate, I just wanted to come and laugh with you about that commercial and put it in perspective and reality.
05:32Indeed, life is complicated at times, you know.
05:36Things aren't always going to go perfect.
05:39If you never argue, chances are one of you is a sheeple in that relationship because it's not normal for two people.
05:48Even identical twins have their own minds, their own personality.
05:55They don't agree all the time.
05:56A spouse doesn't normally agree all the time.
06:00Brothers and sisters don't always agree all the time.
06:04Aunts and uncles, grandmas and grandpas, kids and adults.
06:10It's not normal to be supposedly in sync with another human 100%.
06:18You're not a thinker then.
06:21You're a sheeple.
06:23You're just adopting and assuming someone else's persona if you never have any disagreement.
06:32Anyway, that's all I wanted to mention.
06:34And I laughed again because that commercial came on and I thought about their roller coaster.
06:40Yeah, well, what kind, right?
06:44It's like the difference between a surface street out front of your house 25 miles an hour or the Autobahn trying to go along with traffic zooming past at 150 miles an hour.
06:59One is far more complicated than the other.
07:04Thank you all.
07:05Take care.
07:06God bless.
07:08Love you all.
