00:36Kevin O'Connell was not familiar with Grant Udinski at all and it was actually former Buffalo Bills
00:42defensive coordinator Mike Pettin who said to Kevin O'Connell's kind of his uh mentor Kevin O'Connell's
00:49mentor when he first got the job Pettin said you're I think you want to interview this kid for
00:55this uh you know assistant job that you have and O'Connell's like well you know I kind of got
00:59somebody else for it but okay let me you know let me get on a phone call with him and see and then
01:04hired him after talking with him which kind of just gives you an idea of the impression that Grant
01:10Udinski leaves on people when they sit down with him uh remember when Tom Brenneman said that if you
01:17spent five minutes with Tim Tebow it would change your life it feels like that yeah kind of feels like
01:22that when anybody talks about uh Grant Udinski so then you know he came in and they made him you
01:28know the assistant to the assistant regional manager and something like that and uh Kevin O'Connell
01:33compared that to like giving a kid a car wash job who could actually build the car and you know the
01:40it was not very long before he was basically you know in the liaison to you know J.J. McCarthy who was
01:48behind the scenes learning to play NFL quarterback while he was injured um and Grant Udinski was the
01:55guy that he was calling at 11 o'clock at night with questions and things like that uh and he was
02:00kind of the do-it-all everything like right-hand man for Kevin O'Connell and they were attached at the
02:06hip and O'Connell would you know constantly mention Grant Udinski to the point where it almost kind of
02:12became a little bit of a joke for us like man like every single time he talks about anything with Sam
02:18Darnold and the offense and quarterback development he's bringing up you know Grant over and over again
02:23and I mean my thought was that he would sort of develop into someone that they move slowly up the
02:29ranks like a Kevin Stefanski and then five years later we would eventually see him you know getting
02:35some attention and then Liam Cullen who has the connection to Sean McVay as well he had an interview
02:41with him with the Jaguars and he decides to make him his offensive coordinator so you know I think
02:47that it says a lot about Grant Udinski and just you know that type of person I think Sean McVay it's
02:53like a real recognizes real type of thing
