00:13Hey There Delilah, is being adapted into a scripted TV series.
00:17The Grammy- and Tony-nominated band is teaming up with Lively McCabe Entertainment
00:21and Primary Wave to develop a scripted romantic dramedy based on the iconic track
00:26about a long-distance relationship.
00:28The show's described as a contemporary fairy tale that expands the story within the song.
00:33Now, as any 90s kid-turned-2000s teen knows, the chart-topping single tells the tale of an LDR,
00:38aka long-distance relationship, between a struggling musician and a New York University student.
00:44The songwriter pledges to write a song for the young woman on the night they meet,
00:47which promises to change their lives in unexpected ways.
00:50The track spent 35 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, including multiple weeks at No. 1.
00:56The band's frontman, Tom Higginson, came up with the concept for the TV project,
01:03alongside writer Jeremy Desmond of Pump Up The Volume,
01:06and Lively McCabe Entertainment co-president Michael Barra.
01:10Producers, including Higginson, will be in L.A. pitching the potential series
01:13to multiple networks and studios this month.
