Storm chaser Reed Timmer describes the winter storm over Mississippi to be an "ice storm apocalypse" on Jan. 25. In Oxford, he witnessed trees and power lines downed under the weight of the ice.

00:00Good morning from an ice storm apocalypse here in northern Mississippi.
00:04We had power out all night. It has come back on a little bit. Over 120,000 without power.
00:10Heavy freezing rain. Thunder freezing rain continues with thunder and lightning.
00:14Very heavy. Ice accretion rates possibly exceeding a tenth of an inch an hour even out here.
00:20And this is very heavy convective rain. The ice accretion is accumulating on
00:26the power lines. Elevated surfaces that's knocked power out. I've seen trees that have fallen on
00:31vehicles. I've seen trees come down as well. A very dangerous ice storm is unfolding here
00:37in northern Mississippi. It's a long duration event. It's going to continue into the afternoon.
