00:00All right, let's have some fun on this Friday.
00:02We're going to do a little over-under on some numbers or stats
00:05for who we've identified as the five Mets players
00:08who are under the microscope the most this season.
00:11James Sciano of Mets Stuff enters the chat.
00:14And my man, I got to put him in the hot seat right now, I guess,
00:18since this is Zoom hot box.
00:20James, what's up, my man?
00:21Appreciate you hopping on.
00:23Here's how we're going to do it.
00:24I'll tell you the player.
00:26I'll give you the stat.
00:27Then I want you to give me if he's going to go over or under this season
00:31and why.
00:32We'll start with the man that a lot of people call the captain,
00:36Francisco Lindor, 29 home runs.
00:40He was a 31-31 guy last year, pretty much a 30-30 guy the last couple of years.
00:45Over-under Francisco Lindor, 29 home runs.
00:49The funny thing about Francisco is that he's basically exactly a 30-30 guy
00:53every year.
00:53So I'm going to go over.
00:54I think he's going to keep doing it.
00:55Francisco is one of the few guys in the league right now who's still this,
00:59at least trying to be this 162-game warrior.
01:01If he's gotten cuts, if he's got bruises, if he's got sprains,
01:04like he's putting himself in the lineup basically if he can walk and swing a bat.
01:08So based on him getting as close as possible to that 162, I'm going over,
01:12but probably, you know, slightly, 31-32 homers again.
01:15All right.
01:15Let's talk about the man that no one's been talking about this offseason.
01:19I don't know why, other than that little picture with him and me at Khalifa.
01:23Juan Soto, on-base percentage of 400, over, under, and why?
01:29Juan Soto, way over 400 on-base.
01:31Last year, I think it was the first or second time in his career he was under a 400 on-base,
01:35and that came with one of the worst six-week stretches we've ever seen him have.
01:38Second half, Juan Soto is the real Juan Soto.
01:41I think the batting average is going up.
01:42I think the on-base percentage is going way up.
01:44I don't know if the seals are going up.
01:45Those are probably going down, but I think Juan Soto is going to be looking more like a 415,
01:48420 on-base percentage this year.
01:50Let's talk about the new guys that are in now.
01:53Freddie Peralta, 3.3 ERA, 3.3 ERA over, under, why?
02:00He's coming off a career year.
02:01He's coming off a career year.
02:02I think the lowest or second lowest ERA in his career at about 2.7.
02:05I think this one's going over.
02:07That 2.7 ERA was probably a bit of an aberration for Freddie.
02:10I've been saying I messed up this week.
02:12Amazing.
02:12So pumped that we have him on this team.
02:14But he's definitely more of like a top 20, 25 pitcher in the game than some kind of all-worldly type of ace.
02:20So I think that ERA going over is not the worst thing in the world,
02:23but he has struggled a bit in his career to get pitches in the zone consistently.
02:28Not exactly a walker problem, but just, you know, keeping those innings short,
02:31being this kind of seven-inning workhorse.
02:33I think that ERA is going to be a bit over.
02:35Something more like 3-4, but still going to be a great season from Freddie.
02:38Happy his year.
02:39All right.
02:40Next up, the guy that's coming down from the 6, Bo Bichette.
02:43He's coming in, enters the group chat from Toronto.
02:46Had himself a pretty big year last year.
02:49180 hits is the over-under.
02:52What say of you?
02:53This is a good line you said here because Bo Bichette's career.
02:56Last year, 181.
02:57The year before that, when he played nearly a full season, 175.
03:00So we're close with that with Bo.
03:01But the thing with Bo over the last three years is that he's going to spend probably a little bit of time on the injured list.
03:07I know it's likely a one-year deal, so he's going to be trying his best to play every day to get back on the market next year,
03:13make as much money as possible.
03:14But this is probably one that just goes slightly under.
03:17I say he misses two weeks at some point with an ankle, a groin, a hamstring, a knee.
03:20Something like these lower-body injuries that have been nagging him a few years.
03:23And again, winds up slightly under that 180 hits.
03:27Last but not least, the man who fought so hard for guys like us to be able to rock our beards if we were Yankees.
03:35Devin Williams, 30 saves over-under or why?
03:40Way under for Devin Williams.
03:41I'm big time on the Devin Williams resurgence bandwagon this year.
03:44I know last year the ERA was ugly.
03:46The start of the season for the Yankees were horrible.
03:48And those fans will still let you know how bad this guy was through April and May.
03:51But the stuff still looked good.
03:53The strikeouts still looked good.
03:54Guys weren't hitting the ball hard off him still.
03:57A couple meltdowns here and there.
03:59Came back and showed the best version of himself in the playoffs.
04:03I think Devin Williams pitches like a top-five closer in league this season again.
04:06I think he's going to be a lot more confidence pitching in Queens.
04:09I think Mendoza is going to have a lot of confidence in him.
04:11I think his team is going to really build him up.
04:12I think he's going to go way over that in saves.
04:1437, 38, 40 saves.
04:16Could possibly contend for the league lead, honestly.
04:19Last but not least, I ask all the beat writers and content creators to grade David Stearns' offseason.
04:26What grade would you give David Stearns and why?
04:29I think I'd be somewhere between an A- and a B+.
04:31Of course, it was like a precipitous route to get us here.
04:34I think the way this team looks right now, it's a really, really good baseball team.
04:38Again, maybe not the familiar faces a lot of the fans wanted to go into this season with.
04:41And the only thing I could really chastise him for at this point is probably the way the Edwin Diaz situation was handled.
04:47I know at the end of the day, I think he just wanted to be a Dodger more than he wanted to be a Met.
04:51But that's the one area where I could say, like, I really wish we had one of the guys we lost rather than the guys we got back.
04:56But the way this whole thing's come together, it's a very solid grade for David Stearns.
05:01A-B+, somewhere around there.
05:02Yeah, man.
05:03The alien should study his bounce back because earlier in the offseason, people wanted this man's head on the stake.
05:09But now he's the man again.
05:11I guess that's just how it happens here in New York.
05:14James, appreciate you hopping on, man, with spring training right around the corner.
05:18We will for sure be coming back to you.
05:21Appreciate you too, Brandon.
05:22Thank you so much for the time.
