00:00My name is Ade Okojebe. I am the founder of Keep Me Young, and we have the Keep Me Young and Keep Me Young Community Run Club, Chapel Allerton Run Club.
00:10Over the last year and so, we've had so many people join, new faces and the original faces as well from day one, which has been fantastic.
00:19And it's been great to get people out and running on a Monday.
00:22I think choosing a Monday was something we was unsure about, but now we've confirmed that Mondays are a great way to start your week.
00:30It just helps everybody flow into the week, whether you've got pressures of your job or life or whatever it is.
00:35We're just finding that Mondays are really helping people and building a community in Chapel Allerton and welcoming a safe space where all people can come together.
00:45It's just been great.
00:45How I was introduced to Ade was through a different run club, and then he was like, I'm going to set this up.
00:50Came to support, only meant to come to support for like one day, because I don't live locally and have been turning up every day, every week ever since.
00:58This year, we've added a second route, so we decided to add in a 3K as well as the 5K.
01:04What that's meant is that we've been able to expand the group that comes, so lots of different levels and abilities, because completely recognised a 5K is actually quite far.
01:13And I think people forget that, especially on social media, when there's marathons running all the time.
01:18It's also opened it up to being able to bring family along, so I personally bring my own son, who runs, so that's why I do the 3K route.
01:26With things like this community, it's given me a space to really encourage other people to get out and get moving and get running and share my passion for running as well.
01:35So something that started, as you know, just me by myself, just running, has turned into a community.
01:42We do have a community chat, so in a community chat, we can encourage each other as well, motivate each other.
01:48If somebody's sitting on the couch and they're questioning, should I go, should I not, if you just see somebody's message say, you know, I'm going tonight, then it can just push that person to do it as well.
01:58Having a regular base to come to on a weekly basis, even if it's just kind of once a week, it just helps you get out the door.
02:06It's rainy and miserable, dark and cold, so actually being able to get out the door and being able to know that people are going to be there, have the same group of people around you.
02:14They know what you're capable of, and people will push you, or just, you know, have a nice chat.
02:19So you've got a little bit of the best of both worlds.
02:21You can do kind of go out just for a little casual 5K, you can do a casual 3, or you can really push yourself.
02:26And you've got such a range of people in the group who will help you to do a lot of different things, so I find that really motivating.
02:33A lot of us signed up to do races, so I've got a couple of races booked in.
02:38The conversations I've already had as soon as I got here were like, oh, how's training going? Do you need to help with that?
02:43I always say is like, if you're questioning running, you might think it's too cold, just start putting your gear on.
02:51You know, start putting your shoes on, your top on, and I guarantee when you've got all your running gear on, you will get yourself out of the room.
