00:00The Obi-Wan Kenobi series has been put on hold at Disney+, Taylor Swift takes over Sundance,
00:05and a Bambi live-action remake is in the works.
00:08I'm Tiffany Taylor, and right now I've got the top stories you need to know today from The Hollywood Reporter News.
00:13First, the Obi-Wan Kenobi series starring Ewan McGregor has been put on hold at Disney+.
00:18The show in which McGregor is set to reprise his role as the famed Jedi Knight was in the midst of pre-production.
00:23Sources say that the show was even screen-testing actors opposite McGregor.
00:27The actor last played Obi-Wan in 2005's Star Wars Episode III, Revenge of the Sith.
00:32Anakin, Chancellor Palpatine is evil! From my point of view, the Jedi are evil. Well, then you are lost!
00:39Sources also tell The Hollywood Reporter that the two scripts that were written for the series and story became an issue,
00:45and that the entire package has been abandoned. Lucasfilm is now on the hunt for a new writer to pen the series.
00:50At the same time, sources say the project is being reconfigured from six episodes to four.
00:55Disney had no comment. Hours after the news broke, IGN caught McGregor at an event,
01:00and he told the outlet he did not expect the release of the series would be delayed,
01:04but noted that filming would shift from this summer to January 2021.
01:08Star Wars has found acclaim with its first Disney Plus series, The Mandalorian,
01:12which introduced a breakout character in The Child, aka Baby Yoda.
01:16Everything's fine.
01:17What is that? I don't know. It's a pet or something.
01:20A pet?
01:21Meanwhile, Queen Taylor Swift has taken over Sundance. The Lover Singer shined bright at the film fest for the premiere of her Netflix documentary,
01:28Miss Americana, that gives viewers a never-before-seen look behind the curtain of her life and her road to political activism.
01:34She told the audience during a Q&A session,
01:37We started the process not really knowing if we were going to end up with a documentary.
01:41Nobody physically saw me for a year, and that was what I thought they wanted.
01:46I had to deconstruct an entire belief system.
01:49Toss it out and reject it.
01:52To create the doc, tail out cameras in the studio as she worked on her albums Reputation and Lover,
01:57which is something she said she had never permitted before.
01:59The You Need to Calm Down singer also praised director Lana Wilson's vision for the documentary, saying,
02:04But I think one of the things about you, Lana, is that for so much of my life in the public eye,
02:09when I get sad or upset or humiliated or angry or go through a really horrible time,
02:13I feel people lean in with this hunger, and you never did that to me.
02:17And that was what made me feel okay about feeling sadness, anger, humiliation around you.
02:22Because I felt like when I got sad, you did too. And so it made all of that alright.
02:26Just gonna go have fun. No one out there that I know of in the audience actively hates me.
02:31Not get dead-faced.
02:32Ready to do this?
02:33Ready. Totally ready.
02:35Miss Americana premieres on Netflix on January 31st, and honestly, I can't wait.
02:40And finally, Bambi could be the next Disney classic to get the live-action treatment.
02:44Get up! Get up! Try again!
02:50A Bambi live-action remake is in the works from the writers behind Captain Marvel and Chaos Walking.
02:55The original movie, released in 1942, told the story of a young fawn named Bambi as he learns his place in the forest.
03:01With his two best friends, a rabbit, thumper, and a skunk, flower, Bambi comes of age as he faces the joys and heartaches of growing up.
03:08He doesn't walk very good, does he?
03:11Insiders say the studio views Bambi as a type of companion piece to its remakes of The Jungle Book and The Lion King,
03:17which were not live-action per se, but certainly made to look that way.
03:20A true king searches for what he can give.
03:24The live-action remake continues to pay off for Disney as the last two outings, The Lion King and Aladdin, were both billion-dollar grocers.
03:31I could just make you a prince.
03:33Oh, no.
03:34Y'all see my palace?
