Disney+ and Lucasfilm’s 'Star Wars' series centered on Obi-Wan Kenobi has been put on hold as the companies attempt a retooling, multiple sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.

00:27that the two scripts that were written for the series
00:29and story became an issue,
00:31and that the entire package has been abandoned.
00:34Lucasfilm is now on the hunt for a new writer
00:36to pin the series.
00:37At the same time, sources say the project
00:39is being reconfigured from six episodes to four.
00:42Disney had no comment.
00:43The development follows social media rumors
00:45a week ago that the series was canceled.
00:48Those posts proved premature,
00:49but did expose the project was facing problems.
00:52Hours after the news broke,
00:53IGN caught McGregor at an event,
00:55and he told the outlet he did not expect
00:57the release of the series would be delayed.
00:59But noted that filming would shift
01:01from this summer to January 2021.
01:03McGregor said,
01:04It's just slid to next year, that's all.
01:06The scripts were really good.
01:08Now that Episode IX came out
01:09and everyone at Lucasfilm has got more time
01:11to spend on the writing,
01:12they felt they wanted more time to write the episodes.
01:15Star Wars has found acclaim with its first Disney Plus series,
01:17The Mandalorian,
01:19which introduced a breakout character in The Child,
01:21AKA Baby Yoda.
