At The Hollywood Reporter‘s annual Women in Entertainment breakfast gala, Alexandra Shipp tells THR on the red carpet about fan response to ‘Barbie’ was inspiring, being obsessed with Adele, her new movie, and more.

00:00You had a huge year with the Barbie movie. What is the fan response to that film meant to you?
00:04I think what's most important about Barbie is what she represents, and I think that she represents possibilities,
00:11and I think that seeing how the world has embraced the idea of all the multifaceted ways that we can be human has just really inspired me.
00:22From Barbie to Beyonce, it's been a huge year for women in entertainment.
00:26What's your take on the way that women have just dominated the industry this year?
00:30It's about damn time. It's about damn time. It makes sense.
00:34I mean, we always have. We just haven't gotten the credit, and to now see women stepping into their power and embracing that, it's time.
00:42Adele is receiving a huge honor here this morning. What's one thing you love about Adele?
00:46Oh my god, Adele is like the realest woman ever.
00:49Every interview I see of her, she's just like shooting it straight, and I'm just obsessed with her. I want to be Adele.
00:56And you have a new movie coming out, right? Anyone but you.
01:00What can you tell us about your role in that movie?
01:02It's a really fabulous rom-com, and I get to get married in the movie, so check it out if you want to see me in a wedding dress.
