00:00 How does it feel to be here this morning and surrounded by so many powerful women?
00:03 Oh, it's a great honor, a great privilege and very exciting.
00:07 You know, I'm huge fans of the people who are being honored, especially Adele and Carrie.
00:13 And it's always fun to be around, you know, fellow women who are doing really well in
00:18 Hollywood.
00:19 I'm happy to be asked.
00:22 Adele is receiving a huge honor here this morning.
00:24 What's one thing you love about Adele?
00:26 Oh gosh, everything.
00:27 I find her very authentic.
00:29 I love her voice, I love her songs.
00:32 I love the way that she packaged it into, you know, when she was 19, 20, 25, all of
00:39 that.
00:40 I think she's always reinventing herself and growing.
00:44 You know, she's not stuck in anything.
00:47 She's on a journey and I love that.
00:49 It's been a huge year for female artists like Adele, Beyonce, Taylor Swift.
00:53 What's your take on the way women have dominated entertainment in 2023?
00:58 I think women are the people that actually want to see the entertainment.
01:02 So finally we're getting what we actually really want.
01:05 And I think, you know, a lot of people are asking themselves who are they and what, you
01:11 know, do they matter and what's their purpose in life and how do you navigate, you know,
01:17 love and career and becoming your own person.
01:21 And I think all of those performers address that.
01:27 What advice would you give to a young woman who's aspiring to be in the entertainment
01:31 industry?
01:32 Don't expect to make a living.
01:35 Do it because you love it, love it, love it, love it, love it and you cannot live without
01:38 it.
01:39 Now, you've been in Hollywood so many years, but this was a really tough year for Hollywood
01:43 with the dual strikes.
01:45 What's a personal reason you still love Hollywood?
01:48 You know, I've been doing this professionally for 60 years, 60 years.
01:53 So I've been through strikes and things before and I do a lot of other things.
02:01 I'm also a painter, a designer, I write books, I produce.
02:05 So you know, during the strike for me, I was busy doing all the other things that I love
02:11 to do.
02:12 But I really, I love that I can tell a story and create a character that makes people laugh
02:19 and cry and think.
02:21 And that's basically when it comes down to it, that's it.
02:23 It's not about anything else.
