The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) is gearing up for the upcoming National Arts Month (NAM) this February. During the press conference on Jan. 20, 2026 in Intramuros, Manila, Dr. Lordinio Vergara, Commissioner of NCCA’s Subcommission on the Arts, said that this year’s NAM theme, 'Ani ng Sining: Katotoohan at Giting' (Harvest of the Arts: Truth and Courage), is anchored in the United Nations’ sustainable development goals. The NCCA promises that this year’s celebration will be citizen-centered. Throughout the month, programs will take place across different parts of the country, through partnerships with five local governments. The kick-off event will be on Feb. 1 at Luneta Park, where a ceremonial passing of the symbol of NAM—the lampara, or light—will be held, featuring traces of the Philippine art’s journey to the next generation of artists.
