00:00There he is!
00:03Oh boy, that's been a big hit!
00:16There we go!
00:177.54
00:23Oh gosh!
00:25Come to papa!
00:27Come to papa!
00:28Yeah!
00:30That's what I'm talking about!
00:55Put your hands together for your 2025 Viva Rita Grand Champion Mark Robinson!
01:00Hey folks, I'm Pat Malone, host and tournament director of the Elite Fishing Series.
01:09After last week's exciting Kima Clash event, the tour made the short drive up the coast to the official Cajun capital of Texas, Port Arthur.
01:19Sitting on the Louisiana-Texas border, this area is known for producing big fish.
01:267.54, I will take him all day!
01:30And breathtaking scenery.
01:31But Port Arthur is more than just a fishing destination, with great food, family activities, and plenty to explore along the Gulf Coast.
01:43It's summertime in Southeast Texas, and time for another exciting stop on the Viva Rita Tequila Top 10 Trail, where the sport's top pros compete head-to-head on the Frog Togs Elite Solo Tour.
01:58No teammates, no draw partners.
02:01Where every cast counts...
02:03Come here, you little son of a gun!
02:06...and every ounce matters.
02:082.30.
02:11Got to start somewhere.
02:12This week, West Division anglers are looking to post their heaviest two-day total weight, with the top four advancing to fish on day three.
02:23Days one and two saw some great weights come across the stage. Strike King pro Mike Furnette gets it started with a bag that included a 7.74.
02:328.35. David Owens follows up with a biggie of his own, an 8.35. During the angler's practice period and throughout this three-day competition, the weather brought rain, wind, and tough conditions.
02:48Jason Geigenmiller had a good day one, 1991, but by day two, had had his fill of the storms.
02:56It was a grind for me today, totally opposite from yesterday. Yesterday I caught a lot of fish.
03:01I sat through that storm, about an hour, hour and a half is worth of storm.
03:06It gets in your head when you're out there and you've got an hour and a half sitting next to the console getting soaked and lightning striking all around you.
03:13So, it just wasn't a good day for me. It wasn't my time.
03:16In spite of the challenges, there were some good bags to finish out day two.
03:20Jeremy Reeves took fourth and will fish on day three, while Michael Furnette landed in third, Mark Robinson secured second,
03:28and the monster bag of the week, 25.15, went to Recy Tisdale for his 25.15 pounds.
03:40Tomorrow's going to be totally different. There was one day of practice where I found a bunch of fish.
03:45I actually checked it today and spent about two hours there and only caught two, two small ones.
03:50They weren't even keepers.
03:51I had a really good day today. I caught a lot of fish and I saw a lot of fish. I didn't cast all of them.
03:58I caught a lot of overs and hopefully if I make it tomorrow, those overs are going to be under 10 pounds and I can weigh all those in tomorrow.
04:04I made a stop this morning, caught a couple of fish and then they just quit biting.
04:08So I had to run around, move different areas and at 1.45 I didn't have a single fish in the live whale.
04:15Now we have to be back at 3.30. At 3 o'clock I had zero fish, zero.
04:20And I caught two giants in about a 10 minute span. That gave me breath to even wake up today and go compete.
04:27Tisdale, Robinson, Furnette and Reeves will move on to fishing a one day shootout for the title
04:33in the exciting catch, weigh and release format of the Yamaha Elite Fishing League's championship round.
04:42Next up, the Final Four hit the water for Day 3 as the chase for the Viva Rita Tequila Championship continues.
04:51Welcome back to the Elite Fishing Series in Port Arthur, Texas.
04:56The Final Four, along with their officials and cameraman, load up and head out for Day 3's launch.
05:02Locked in, focused and ready to chase the Frog Togs Elite Solo Tour Championship at the Bolton Bash.
05:09Presented by Visit Port Arthur, Texas.
05:13Start using crank baits and spinner baits and maybe some corks and catch as many fish as we can in the time we've got.
05:23And the truth is I don't know if we could hide from it man. I'm going straight east into that rainstorm if I decide to go where my fish are.
05:31So that's a good start anyway. If they're under 10 pounds I'd be good. I'd be 100 pounds right there.
05:39These are my home waters so you know it's a blessing and a curse.
05:43A lot of the time when you fish your home waters it's where do I go and what time do I need to be there type of thing.
05:50Yeah so the plan for the morning is we're going to run here out of the river and head towards Sabine Lake and just start fishing.
06:12Jump in different areas and put the trolling motor down and just grind out on these fish.
06:17Elite Fishing Series Television is brought to you by Tidewater Boats, Yamaha Outboards, Frog Togs Rain Gear, McLean Trailers, Southerly Fishing, Viva Rita Tequila, Check It Stick Measuring Systems, Brecknell Scales and our community partners.
07:0310, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
07:19Line's in.
07:24Man, this had another pop.
07:30Three bites so far and ain't a single one's grabbed it.
07:35Bad weather scares me.
07:36I mean, it really does.
07:37It's one thing to have bad weather at home or in your truck when you're driving.
07:40But when you're out here and you're the tallest thing, amongst nothing but prairie grass,
07:47you can't help but think you're going to be the one that gets that lightning strike.
07:51I mean, it just gets in your brain and scares you the whole time.
07:55And you just pray that as God gets you out of here, you never come back.
08:04Looks like it's moving off still, huh?
08:06Yeah.
08:07Kinda doing some weird stuff.
08:14Come here.
08:19Pretty good fish.
08:23Probably six and a half, seven pounds, I would imagine.
08:29Come here, buddy.
08:31Trying to be real easy with him.
08:32His spoons are real finicky.
08:37If you get a good hook set or not, I got him barely hooked on the top of the lip.
08:41So if I don't play him just right, he'll come off.
08:47Come on.
08:48Come on.
08:49Come on.
08:50Come in the net.
08:51There he goes.
08:52Alright.
08:53Call that a 5.5.
08:565.5 confirmed.
08:59Thank you, Mr. Corey.
09:01Ooh.
09:02He's still got a lot of fight left in him.
09:04Look how fat that fish is.
09:06That fish is probably 23 inches long.
09:08He's five and a half pounds.
09:09So we'll take him all day.
09:26There he is.
09:29Good fish.
09:34And a giant little dick.
09:36Little guy.
09:37Why did I think he was so much bigger?
09:38I'm excited.
09:39All right.
09:40We'll take that little maybe girl.
09:41That's a redfish magic spinnerbait.
09:43And what I'm telling you about ripped it out of my hand, I thought it was an eight, nine pounder.
09:59And I don't think he'll go two and a half.
10:022.86.
10:03Perfect.
10:04Thank you, sir.
10:05Okay.
10:06He ain't much, guys.
10:08But what a beautiful morning.
10:12I mean, a lot of emotions here, guys.
10:15I love this stuff.
10:16And when I'm being silent, my head's really loud.
10:19And I'm out here thinking about why I'm here and what both of my parents have done for me to give me an opportunity to fish for a whiff.
10:35You kidding me?
10:36Let's get the next one.
10:39Welcome back to the Elite Fishing Series in Port Arthur, Texas.
10:46As we return to the water, Reece Tisdale is hooked up with his first fish of the day.
10:51If he can land it, that'll mean all four anglers have a fish on the board, and it's just getting started.
10:58There we go.
11:13We're on the board.
11:162.88.
11:17Yes, sir.
11:19He ain't big, but he's a fish.
11:27Oh, gosh.
11:32Robinson loses one right at the boat and then tries to embellish its size, but his official was on top of it.
11:42He was about at least 12 pounds.
11:45Oh, so he wouldn't have counted.
11:48He was a good two-pounder.
11:50I needed the two pounds, though.
11:52Way to go, Jesse.
11:54That's keeping them straight on the water.
11:57Fishing is trying to heat up, but the big ones are still hiding.
12:02Jeremy Reeves hooks up with what would normally be a non-keeper.
12:07But today, a four-and-a-half pounder is almost a trophy.
12:12It's in the net and headed for the brick nail scales.
12:16But not before Reeves can play guess the weight.
12:19Four-point-two.
12:20Four-point-two-six.
12:22That was a death.
12:25Let me get a picture.
12:26Sure.
12:27I think there might have been a bigger one with him, but he went deeper and I couldn't see him,
12:30because there was a heck of a push coming down the bank.
12:34Oh, God.
12:35Mother .
12:36Sorry.
12:37Pardon my language.
12:38You just got to really pay attention, and this is the time of the year where storms will work one way,
12:53and you'll get nice and comfortable thinking it's coming from the south moving to the north or whatever,
12:57and midway through that day, it'll bounce back and come right back at you,
13:00and that's when it gets dangerous.
13:03Just making sure that path of that storm is consistent is pretty important.
13:14Fish out.
13:27Reece Tisdale was the leader after two days with 47.18 pounds.
13:32That's a seven pound lead over the next closest angler.
13:36Day two, his three fish limit weighed over 25 pounds, but the weights start over for day three when the focus shifts to quantity,
13:45and Reecey has struggled to find his numbers.
13:49He gets his fish in the net and places it on the Brecknell scales, but weights like 2.90 pounds won't help him move up the leaderboard.
14:02But it's a fish, and there's still time.
14:05Once again, weather moves into the area, becoming yet another obstacle the anglers have to deal with.
14:11Wind and current factor in, forcing anglers to adjust on the fly and fight more than just the fish.
14:18Michael Frenette hooks up, and he's battling it all at once.
14:22The fish, heavy current, and gusting winds, doing everything he can to keep pressure on the fish and stay in control of his rig.
14:30And he gets it done.
14:32Frenette lands the fish and adds another one to his total, building his weight on the leaderboard.
14:38It may not be a giant, but at this point in the day, every ounce matters.
14:432.98.
14:45Even this 2.98 pounder.
14:48With time still on the clock and the field tightly bunched, there's plenty of room to make a move, and it's still anybody's tournament to win.
14:55Well, almost anybody's.
14:57First penalty of the year, and this is my third time to qualify for the day three so far out of three tournaments.
15:06So, not too bad.
15:08Two-minute penalty.
15:09I had a small little probably two-pound redfish on, and I guess my knot either come untied or my line was frayed.
15:18I didn't realize it.
15:20So, if you're the crime, you've got to do the time.
15:24Jeremy Reeves serving his penalty while Mark Robinson decides to load up and make a move.
15:30And he's got company, but not the kind he was expecting.
15:35This could turn out to be a unique challenge.
15:38A real tough one.
15:40Come on.
15:45Come on.
15:46I'm going around a gator.
15:48It's in his mouth.
15:49This is going to be tough.
15:51Real neat deal.
16:00Oh, God, there's a big one right there.
16:05Holy .
16:18Don't get off now.
16:20Mother .
16:229.10.
16:239-1-0.
16:24We're moving up in the world.
16:25Let's get a picture.
16:26Welcome back to Port Arthur, Texas and the Elite Fishing Series.
16:43Thank you, fish.
16:45Jeremy coming off of his two-minute penalty for breaking off a fish has this happen.
16:51You're just working your lure back and forth and then all of a sudden, this is what happens.
16:58This could not have come at a worse time.
17:00Locked in a tight battle that he leads for now by just over a pound, every cast counts.
17:06And Jeremy needs to be casting.
17:08On the other side of the river, Mark has found a great spot and is hooked up again.
17:13If he can land this fish, he'll take over the lead and Jeremy will fall to second.
17:20Oh, he went to culvert.
17:25He went to culvert.
17:26Yeah, that'll be a two-minute penalty for breaking off.
17:32What a fortunate break for Jeremy, but Mark picked a bad time for a break off.
17:39Michael Frenette hooks into a good one that could move him up a spot or two.
17:44Oh, yes, sir!
17:47But now it's a race against the clock, and he's feeling the pressure.
17:52He ain't enough to take first, but we get one more, maybe.
17:56This thing ain't over.
17:58If he can get this fish in, get it weighed, and get back out and catch one more, then Michael would take the lead.
18:0510 minutes and 20 seconds.
18:0720 times.
18:08Get ready to weigh this thing.
18:10That'll get you sucking red.
18:11Good job!
18:16Quick as we can, okay?
18:21You have three minutes left.
18:244.06.
18:30We're close.
18:31We are close.
18:33The leader still isn't casting.
18:35We're stuck on bottom.
18:36A barge comes by and throws a big old wave at us.
18:38And thank goodness we didn't, nothing happened.
18:41And with time running out, he may be watching his chances for a win slip away,
18:46as Robinson's last fish of the day is a real good one, if he can land it.
19:039.80.
19:04I felt it.
19:059.80.
19:06They're in trouble now.
19:07Wow.
19:08Mark boats his best fish of the week on his last cast.
19:09But on the other side of the boundaries and against the odds, Jeremy Reeves got stuck,
19:24got unstuck, took a chance on a last minute move, and he's hooked up.
19:28That was a hell of a move.
19:30That's a really, really good fish.
19:31Really good fish.
19:32Man, we need this guy.
19:33We need him.
19:34Oh.
19:35Come here.
19:36Come here.
19:37Come here.
19:385.1.
19:39Super happy to have him.
19:40Last minute fish.
19:41Five, four, three, two, one.
19:55Finds out.
19:56Alright, that's a wrap.
19:58As the anglers wrapped up day three and made their way back to Bolton Dodge for the final
20:04time this week, Jeremy Reeves held on for the win.
20:10Edging out Mark Robinson by less than two pounds.
20:14Michael Frenette finished strong in third, while Reece Tisdale rounded out the field,
20:19finishing fourth.
20:20Congratulations to all the anglers and thank you, Port Arthur, Texas, for hosting another
20:25outstanding Elite Fishing Series event.
20:28This is your host, Pat Malone, thanking you for watching this week's episode.
20:32Official Lodging Partner was the Holiday Inn Park Central of Port Arthur.
20:36And closed captioning provided by McLean Trailers.
20:39Yes!
20:40Can I have some love?
20:42No?
20:43Since when they can't give me any love?
20:45It has some plenty love.
